Ameristar or Harrah's

A buddy of mine is going to KC for the Ravens game. He's been a long time lurker here and finally signed up but he still can't start threads (lol, noob) so I told him I'd start this for him. He's in his early 40's and is bringing his GF. Any thoughts on the positives and negatives of each place? Any suggestions on which place is better to stay at? TIA.

Bowser 06-23-2019 11:19 AM

Personally, I like Ameristar over Harrah's. Better games, better food selections, movie theaters in the building, and the rooms are nice. Plus, I get my dick kicked in when I play at Harrah's (and Argosy for that matter), but to be fair there are a few people that post here that make a killing at Harrah's properties.

O.city 06-23-2019 11:21 AM

If they’re wanting to go downtown or anything harrahs is a little closer

I think harrahs is a little better set up and ameristar was always a little scattered or something

Titty Meat 06-23-2019 11:42 AM

Ameristar is the best casino in KC

7th Street is where it's at, bro. Haven't you heard the commercials?

No. 7th Street is the ghetto casino. Don't actually go there. I was just trying to make a joke about their constant annoying commercials.

I'll make sure to send him there ROFL

Bellagio. Quadruple your fun over declining KC.

Can confirm about the commercials - both constant AND annoying.

I believe 7th Street is just a slot casino, maybe a sports bar to boot. No hotel, no table games (I think), and nothing around it except for downtown Wyandotte County. Hard pass.

Incorrect. Caesar's or bust.

O.city 06-24-2019 12:33 PM

I second the Bellagio.

srvy 06-24-2019 07:59 PM

Nobody ever mentions Isle of Capri ROFL

George Liquor 06-24-2019 08:06 PM

I like Harrahs but either works, wife and I normally stay at Harrahs cus it's a little cheaper.

Only time I stay at Ameristar is during HPT. **** paying $360 for a room on a Saturday night.

El camino real a couple doors down has excellent al pastor, especially if you can talk them into grilling the pineapple with the meat on the flat top. Holy shit it's good

Best place to stay is Argosy imo. Love those rooms

Correct. No question about it.

Doesn't Ameristar have an Arthur Bryant's in it?

Yes, definitely the best rooms of the casinos.

Used to. The shuttered that place a couple of years ago to build the one out by the race track in Village West.

Demonpenz 06-25-2019 12:26 AM

I love argosy. Ameristar is nice but the carpet has semen all over it.

Demonpenz 06-25-2019 12:26 AM

Isle of Capri has this crab leg day where it is busy with people.

I want to burn argosy down. I've never won a dime at that place. It's amazing how fast that place consistantly took my money when I would go there.

The number one rule of gambling is to always chase your losses. Sounds like you gave up too quickly.

Lmao I'm a degenerate gambler enough without chasing loses at 3 card poker and slot machines

When Argosy first opened as a true riverboat casino I went and won $50 playing blackjack. Went a week later and won $120. Went again after a month and won $585. Got me a new set of golf clubs after that last win.

I'm pretty sure I've given all that back plus a lot more over the years.

I've had good nights of $800+ at every casino in KC but Argosy. I walked out of Argosy up $80 one time because i hit 3 queens playing 3 card poker right as my date wanted to leave.

I wonder if I've played against you. I was quite regular over the winter.

BWillie 06-26-2019 12:19 PM

Ameristar is a little better, but Harrahs is a better location closer to more shit in Kansas City. Seems to be more lively for nightlife too.

But no clue why Hollywood doesn't have a hotel. Perfect place to have one, reasonably close to airport etc. They have to pay the state of Kansas like 1M a year as a penalty each year they dont have one.

Recommendations for best BBQ? I have been to Arthur Bryant's there.

LOL. What a hole that place is. However, I do like that 6 card poker game they have. Did pretty well at that last time I stopped by(late May).

Why Not? 06-26-2019 01:54 PM

I will say this. All the casinos in KC seem to have that blackjack plus 3 card poker variant. That’s so much fun! Doesn’t exist yet in AZ. Hope it’s heading out here.

Me and my buddies used to get roaring drunk there and play $3 blackjack right after we all turned 21.

Sam's Town because that moving sidewalk was cool after drinking to many beers at the sports bar with the crappy whole wall bg screen tv.
