I got a few months to worry about it and I'm sure i'll find a place. I'm back at my old job and working about 90 hours a week now so I'll be able get a place if i decide but right now i want to save money. I'm looking to get a portable generator to beat this heat. Hasn't been too bad so far with all this rain it hasn't been in the 100s like usual this year so i've lucked out!

yes the hours are brutal but it should all pay off plus i got to go to a game this year i want to witness our Super Bowl run!

If i can get shit paid off and get out of debt then i won't have to work all these hours but yet the State mandates me so most of it's forced labor even when i come in early to work a 12 hour shift they make me stay for 16 hours.

It sucks cuz it cuts into my fishing time but without money it's hard to go fishing anyways so that is the clutch.

Would you classify yourself as completely feral?

If so, how many acres of land do you require to accomplish that?

If not, what goods or services are you importing into your domain, and do you have a plan in place to begin making them yourself?

I'm still doing research to answer this question: https://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/show...ighlight=feral

Held over as an employee, or....?

I didn't know that state psychiatric hospitals still existed. I thought they'd all been shut down in favor of some other model that clearly isn't working. Are your folks voluntarily there, or does Missouri allow involuntary admissions?

We get "mandated " that means if we don't have relief we are required to stay up to 16 hours. I've seen nurses get held over for 22 hours. You can refuse a mandate but then you get wrote up and eventually that can cost your job but mandates get old.

Maintenance thing, or being an orderly thing?

Knowing a few stories myself, owing to living in a town with with a huge, old, but recently closed down asylum... not sure if I could handle the strain of dealing with the latter

Rasputin 07-07-2019 03:38 PM

And yes in Kansas they are typically involuntary admitted to our hospital and we get guys from jail all the time because they tried to hang themselves in the jail cell.

That seems kind of weird, but I guess it's a public safety issue (or patient safety). I wonder if people like police and firemen and jail guards and air traffic controllers have a similar system.

An orderly thing. Getting vitals and what ever needs done keep patients from harming themselves or others but mostly can sit around and color or hang out but also do location checks.

We are just understaffed and part of the problem with that is location not much people are willing to work out here and its desolate area. The amount of turnover is crazy. Larned state hospital has been I'm the news because of lack of staffing

Oh man, that sounds stressful both mentally and physically

I’ve been in the one I described earlier many times as a kid to see an old relative, and know people who worked there in various capacities over the years... it would probably crush me into a permanent depression

Good on you for being willing to step up, they’re still people who need care and there you are

I actually like my unit other units we get pulled too not so much but I've survived this field by looking at the entertainment value patients (and staff) give. It's like watching True TV live. Most of the patients are characters and you get to know them.

Like when a patient says "The green beans are cooked in gasoline " I'm like don't eat the green beans

I've seen that youtube video about the correlation between attractiveness and craziness in women, so I'm assuming that your hospital is full of really attractive women patients who occasionally wrestle each other or the cute female orderlies. Don't spoil my vision of this by telling me otherwise.

They wrastle in slow motion and sometimes their hospital gowns slip open and fall to the ground and we have to go over and put their garments back on them wrapping them up and carrying them back to their rooms. it's a donting task.

I call it Cookoo for Coaco Puffs but I call S.P..T.P. Peewee's Playhouse. That's a different program.

There are three different programs at LSH and also DOT

PSP or ATC adult treatment center. That's where I work the most

SSP. State Security Patients for criminally insane

And

S.P.T.P. Sexual Predator Treatment Program that a bullet is the only cure for them.

Mr. Wizard 07-08-2019 04:50 AM

Actually there are some of us farther S.W. in Kansas than you currently are! :( Welcome to the constant breeze! However it's dry here and nights are always nice and cool, even in the dead heat of summer.

Have you visited;

- old Fort Larned? It's cool if your into history.
- the Mexican restaurant in Larned? not bad.
- Pawnee rock? another historical site.
- You are living right on the Santa Fe trail, have you been to that museum?
- Have you fished Larned city lake?

So much to do, so little... "hey look, a rabbit!"

Oh yea, have you thought about one getting a pop up canopy to put right behind your van? I have camped out of my pickup shell and it makes a huge difference. Portable, cheap and lots of shade. I used 5 gallon buckets for weights. One for each leg, fill with water, short bungee cord from leg to bucket handle, when ready to leave dump the water, fold up the canopy, stack buckets and go.

just a thought.......

Well I just used my brothers address that lives here in town but I did have to jump through a bunch of hoops. you can't just transfer back nope they make it unreasonable and difficult as possible even though everyone was wanting me back.
