As a lifelong Chiefs fan and someone who works with media, I support a free press but I do worry when a news director permits a story to run that will destroy a person's professional life (Hill) and hurt the city, the community and the city's prized team all in one swoop without much more careful thought, introspection about ethics, and the willingness to try and balance the story with the other side.

I don't live in the city any more and cannot speak to what KCTV5 has been doing locally, but it sounds like it was a knee-jerk reaction to get ratings at the expense of journalistic integrity.

I'm as excited as anyone to hope that Hill will be back with the team. As for Whitlock, since when do we ban a legitimate voice on the topic, just because we disagree with his latest take? I disagree that Hill needs to serve a suspension. Granted, this is driven, in part, because it has been almost 50 years since I saw our last Super Bowl appearance, as a child. With Hill I think Jason is pandering to interests outside of sports. He has a chip on his shoulder about the Chiefs and has been unduly negative about the team over the years; but, he helped chase Pioli out of the city and he has been a Mahomes homer on his show.
