DeNiro, Pacino, Pesci, Scorsese.....The Irishman trailer
Holy shit. Probably the last hurrah for these guys. Looks great

Scorsese. De Niro. Pacino. Pesci. THE IRISHMAN. This one I am really looking forward to after being hyped for Once upon a time then letdown. Hopefully Scorsese wont make the same mistake.
|
Definitely looks really good. And with a reportedly / estimated $200 million dollar budget Netflix has a ton riding on this. Really liked the trailer and I hope the de aging special effects won't be too distracting.
Oh and welcome back Mr Pesci! |
I've loved these guys in just about everything but some look completely miscast.
DeNiro comes across so unbelievable as an Irishman and looks just like a "Italian Gangster" Pacino not even close to being like Hoffa despite the heavy makeover |
Quote:
FWIW, he was also Irish in Goodfellas (Jimmy Burke). |
DeNiro is 75, Pesci is 76, and Pacino is 79. A geriatric mobster movie.
I want it to be good, but I am not optimistic; none of these guys are what they used to be. |

Scorsese still has it. I trust him. |
Pass. Not putting any more money in DeNiro's pocket.

Will watch, dont have a Netflix sub anymore though, but ill sub for this! Plus i need to finish off a few other of their shows!
Also, he's probably always been the way he is, just didnt feel the need to speak up until recently for good reason! Dont really need to get into all that, no point really! Anyways, like i said, once it hits Netflix, will watch! |
I'd watch it if I had Netflix.
And when was the last time Joe Pesci was in a movie? |

Stopped reading at DeNiro. Hard pass.

But I doubt that his newfound vocality is all that ideological or actually all that genuine. I believe he's genuinely passionate, but I'd almost put money on it stemming from some incredibly petty interpersonal interaction[s] over a broad history. Maybe one of his sidepieces found Trump rude, or one of his sidepieces used to bang him too, or Trump badmouthed on of his precious TriBeCA/SoHo soirees or a dish at one of his restaurants. Quite possibly, some of Trump's character traits that led to electoral success struck a little close to home to some traits that therapists have been working to eradicate in De Niro himself. Whatever it is, I am confident it's more a matter of clashing egos than a matter of clash of heartfelt philosophies. If nothing else, De Niro doesn't strike me as a philosopher, to say the least. |
I will definitely see it. I mean, it's going to be on Netflix right? Easy enough. The stuff they are doing to make them look younger is also fascinating.

But DeNiro doesn't roll that way. There's a certain amount of gas I'll tolerate from these elitist cockbags, because I understand the bubble they inhabit. But he crossed the line, and I'm done with him and anything he does going forward. Won't stop me from watching a 30 year old masterpiece like Goodfellas, though. Just like Alec Baldwin being a similar blowhard douche now won't stop me from watching Hunt for Red October, or Spacey being a perverted molesting creep won't stop me from watching L.A. Confidential. All that stuff's been in the books for a long time. |

DeNiro playing Frank Sturgis?

Honest question -- why don't you like DeNiro? |

De Niro was on SNL, I can't believed I watched a couple skits before I changed the channel but every line he was saying he had to read on the cue cards it was so obvious.
I have no interest in watching this movie either. |
ROFL:rolleyes:

Ronin was a very underrated De Niro flick, imo. Anybody remember that one? |
I have successfully insulated myself from the stupid. What did DeNiro say?

Release date set:
November 1st in theaters November 27th on Netflix https://birthmoviesdeath.com/2019/08...es-all-of-them |
Sounds like this is clocking in at 3.5 hrs long.
|
looks good
|
Reviews are filtering out
Consensus is: A Masterpiece |
Currently 100% on RT. Sounds like the de aging special effects aren't so distracting. Good to know!
|
Anyone seeing it in the theater?
|
Two weeks from yesterday can't get here soon enough
|
Premieres tomorrow or early this morning is my guess.
|
Watched it last night on Netflix. Watching Pacino and Deniro act together was great to see. Scorsese and mob movies are always entertaining. But 3.5+ hours? Netflix should have made this a limited series.

About an hour in. Will have to watch in pieces Didn’t realize Harvey Keitel was in this too. Scorcese really brought out the all star team lineup. |

Bruce Springsteen did a show last week at the Stone Pony and one of buddys who was there commented on how we are all old and can't outrun Father Time no matter how hard we try. |
This movie was overrated AF. Complete snore fest

It has some Instant classic scenes. “that’s what you wear to a meeting?” “Don’t be late to a meeting “. “More than 10 minutes late, that’s saying something “ Great scene! |
I went ahead and started watching it the other night - got nearly halfway through.
I'm not sure if I'll finish it or not. Just feels like been there, done that, with better material, more than once. I mean, how many retreads of the Scorcese/DeNiro/Pesci Lowlife Greaseball Show do we need? After a while it's just like another Jason Bourne movie, with big meals instead of car chases. |
Deniro was great in the Joker- I really liked the part where his dumb ass got shot dead on camera.

Ultimately it’s pretty sad. The last half hour or so is about aging and dying alone. |

Hour in, I'm having trouble talking myself into finishing it.

I gave up. Big Scorsese fan but this movie sucks.

So hang in there! |

It's the first truly interactive movie. It's so long the audience ages and dies along with the characters. |
Is there anyone familiar with the "Killing Jimmy Hoffa" doc on Amazon who can say if this added anything you might not get from the source material?
I don't mind Scorsese et al dramatizing this stuff, but as the consumer appetite for true crime documentaries has grown, they've gotten good at assembling interviews and file footage to give a pretty good picture of events, and it's often just plain better to get the information straight from the mouth of the wiseguys and skells who were involved. |
Scorcese taking some heat online because AnnA Paquin and Jessie Plemons have about 20 words of dialogue between them.
Although Paquins character ends up being fairly import to the film. |

So obviously the movie is coming from Sheerans point of view. |
The facts of this movie have fallen apart. 99.9% fiction
|
Quote:
The movie is based on a book told by Sheeran. |
It wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be and not as bad as some have said. Soundtrack could have been better which is something Scorsese usually has on point (Goodfellas, Casino, and the Departed come to mind.) Any good links disputing the storyline for my lazy ass?
|
Watched the first hour of this last night. Will probably finish it tonight. The CGI they used to make the characters look younger is distracting as hell.

Haven't seen it yet but can anyone tell me how this Sheeran killed Hoffa theory stacks up? There are so many claims with this and MLK that it's hard for me take any seriously.
|
It was solid. Dragged quite a bit, but a good watch.

It’s still very well made and the cast is beyond Iconic. |
You would watch Expendables 10, Deberg. Tell it true....
|
It's slow. If it had been a theatrical release, there would be an hour of cellulose acetate lying on the floor. It had some good moments. Will watch again to stitch together details.
