What's The Last Thing You Treated Yourself To?

I got posed this question at work a couple weeks ago and it threw me for a loop.

So what's yours? What's the last thing you treated yourself to? Something you acquired just for you that falls outside of your normal purchases.

Bowser 08-25-2019 03:32 PM

Citizen Eco-Drive watch. I like it and it's brought in some compliments.

LoneWolf 08-25-2019 03:34 PM

A pair of Royal Retro 1 Jordan’s. Most I’ve ever spent on a pair of sneakers.

A framed reproduction of antique beer art, a lady sitting on a crescent moon toasting the stars for Miller Beer

Ran across it somewhere online years ago and absolutely fell in love, then a couple weeks ago see it sitting in an antique store window and pulled the trigger for $50 without hesitation... it looks SO dope on my living room wall

Nice. I observe and appreciate watches on other people and wish I could get into them, but ultimately I hate having any kind of accessories on my person. I once went on vacation with my wife without my wedding ring. We were on the flight out and she was like WTF mother****er?!

Got promoted at work a few weeks ago, bought myself my present last night~

https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/...Res/4215_1.jpg

Plus a whole bunch of accessories.. ammo.. mags.. etc~

Rain Man 08-25-2019 03:47 PM

I just ate a cookie if that counts.

Other than that, I'm at a life stage where my needs are few, so I have a few things that I like that I do regularly. I go to barbecue restaurants, I buy tennis shoes, I buy an occasional nice shirt or nice pair of jeans, and I travel to races. But I do all of those things somewhat regularly. If you set those things aside, I seldom buy things that are outside my normal purchases, so it's hard to answer. Maybe bigger vacations, or I'll sometimes stay an extra day when I'm on a race trip.

Is it the lady with the red hat, skirt, boots? Either way, this is great as I have several critical concert posters, rolled up, sitting in a closet that I would consider a treat if I ever had them framed.

Did you turn to the woman in the next seat and say, "I have no idea what this woman is talking about"?

There are a few slightly different variations I’ve seen, my girls hat is yellow with blue and white stripes for instance... but yeah, you know what I’m talking about

The last "nice" thing I bought for myself was a Tudor Black Bay Wristwatch. That was about 1.5 years ago.

Everything since then has been some sort of necessity.

We typically try and secure the 2 seat row just in front of the exit row seats on Southwest flights just for these types of moments, so maybe that counts?

Galaxy Note 10+ and it came with a free pair of Galaxy Buds. I'm more excited about the buds than the phone, I cant believe I went this long without true wireless earbuds. Before that it was my Chiefs Nike Air Zoom Pegasus shoes.

I'm not really an accessory guy myself, either. But I do admit to being a fan of a decent watch. This is me trying to appear cultured, I guess. Lol

Nothing much, I did "treat" myself to a french press. Never used one before and the coffee tastes good, but I will probably mostly use it when I run out of coffee filters because it takes a little extra effort to clean it.

I've been on a spree this year of buying stupid shit I don't need. It's addicting. Been becoming somewhat of a hat collector but that doesn't set me back to bad. I bought a Rolex Milgauss, two Yeezys and one pair Pharrell Williams human race shoes.

He got bear hugs from Kelce and Mahomes, who both lifted him off the ground.

It was magical.

Gotta use up the rest of my youth some how.

I don't really buy a lot of stuff for myself anymore. If I treat myself, it is generally with delicious food. Tonight will be ribeyes with some sweet corn, loaded baked potatoes and some homemade cheesecake for dessert.

Get to sleep around midnight to get ready for the week the right way.

Went to Price Chopper a few weeks ago when they were doing a sale on them and saw probably the saddest looking ribeyes I had ever seen in the meat case. Patio steaks looked more appetizing.

One thing I'm glad to of learned over the years was to be very picky about the cut of beef that I buy.

I generally try to live fairly cheap (as cheap as you can with a mortgage and 2 kids) and keep some disposable income around, mainly because I’m too lazy to budget tightly. So the thing I typically “treat” myself on is I don’t eat cheap crap anymore. It’s just not worth it if you aren’t financially forced to do so.

Other things I’ve maybe frivolously dropped cash on that you can say isn’t necessarily mission critical:

A RAM mount for my phone in my pickup and the sprayer
Wireless earbuds. They’re cheap but they are better than wired ones
Duluth Trading company underwear. They are expensive as **** but it’s been my experience that they are worth it.

Actually, I have splurged on a few things lately. Today I bought this:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It's a tabletop propane griddle. Going to put it out on the screened in porch on a table next to my Weber Gas Grill for doing breakfast like scrambled eggs and bacon and hash browns on Sunday morning. I can also use it to do burgers at Arrowehead tailgate. It's portable, has three burners and you can use it with a small propane bottle, or (I bought the adapter) a quick connect setup to a normal sized propane tank like you'd use with a Weber grill.

Ms. Blowfish and I finished our restore of our 1997 Cougar. We've been restoring it for about five years and just got it done. New V8 engine (less than 10,00 miles on it), all body and paint, all new interior from floor to ceiling, new Goodyear tires, all new suspension and exhaust, and final touch was a new Pioneer Sound System with all new speakers a couple weeks ago. Going to take it for detailing next month, and it's done. Here's a picture from back around May after the body and paint work, and before the interior work. The inside cloth and leather is just like when it rolled off the showroom floor. There's a few blemishes from 23 years of ownership, but it looks pretty choice. And it runs like a bat out of Hell.
