Here We Go Again CP! / UPDATED 02/06/20 Out of Surgery

Well, it's that time again. It is time to go back under a knife, replacing the left knee spacer and installing a knee joint. It has been a very trying, painful last year getting around with stiff legs from the infections I had.

For those who pray, all the help to the big man upstairs will be appreciated.

Go Chiefs!

All in on that

If Roy hasn’t died from what he’s been through yet, this will be a cakewalk

Bwana 08-27-2019 07:58 PM

Best of luck Roy, you got this!

FAX 08-27-2019 08:07 PM

You'll do fine, Mr. ROYC75. Knee replacements are common as millennial hookers these days. Still, I will gladly consult with The Great Spirit on your behalf.

Pro-tip, though ... before surgery, be sure and make tags for both knees. Make one that says, "FIX THIS ONE" and another tag that says, "NOT THIS ONE" and attach one to each leg using either twine or a rubber band or a long twist tie or whatever you have handy. Write legibly. And use a permanent marker so there's no risk of smearing. Most important point, however ... be sure not to get them mixed up.

Good luck Roy. Double check the spacer. If it's the wrong size you'll be constantly walking in circles.

Another tip, after following the Mighty Fax suggestions, do NOT cross your legs for one second. Some doctors are not very smart.

Be careful! Lots of pain management drugs can..."Dry you out"! I can personally attest that 7 days without a good BM makes one....miserable.

Gone in 60 seconds? Naw, but....

Being at home in 60 hours is awful damn fast!

Yes but getting you out of the hospital where there are so many infections with your history of infections is probably a damn good idea.

Inquiring minds DO want to know!!!

ROYC75 09-24-2019 04:26 PM

I have to admit, seeing Alex Smith thread today with him walking gave me a lot more optimism and hope with my recovery. It has been three years since I've had two knees put in, being 62 years old now and 3 years older, it does make a hell of a difference. I just have to take it one day at a time, slow down , I've been going too fast and too hard and it's over working both knees, especially since I only have 1 knee and not two.

My biggest problem is I have never been lazy and being dormant for the last year-and-a-half has really gotten into my mind and it's driving me nuts I want to get up and go.

Buehler445 09-24-2019 05:01 PM

Best of luck man. It’s a difficult task but it’s the one you’ve got.

Otter 09-24-2019 05:06 PM

Hang in there Roy!

srvy 09-24-2019 05:09 PM

Good luck Roy Prayers for your speedy recovery. Listen to those specialists and particularly those rehab nurses.

ROYC75 09-28-2019 06:00 PM

GOOD GRIEF, NOT AGAIN?

Currently at the E.R., they are treating my left knee for some type of infection! :banghead:

I feel snake bitten!

Good news, white cell count is good, my CRP levels is good.

Hears hoping they can ward this off!

DaFace 09-28-2019 06:03 PM

Tell them to pour some alcohol on it. :)

But seriously, hope they get it figured out quickly and you can get out of there. You've certainly had a run of shit luck.

stumppy 09-28-2019 06:04 PM

Damn Roy, at this point I'd say you definitely are snake bitten. Sounds like they have the antidote though. Good luck.

If your white count is good hopefully it is a localized deal and they can get it.

ROYC75 09-28-2019 06:09 PM

Right now any infection scares the HELL out on me!

Currently getting IV and Antibiotics.

FAX 09-28-2019 06:09 PM

Ask a lot of questions, Mr. ROYC75. Even if it pisses off the doctors and makes the nurses weep and rend their clothing, make sure you understand exactly what they're doing and why they're doing it.

If you don't get cogent, convincing, and respectful answers, ask to see another doctor. By that I mean, demand to see another doctor. And think positively at all times.

Good luck, man.

It is locally around the incision, most likely cellulitis.

Here We Go Again, it's Time for the Right knee!

Today, 20 months after that June 2018 day infection attacked both of my artificial knees, the right knee is going back in at 10:30 am.

That infection just about killed me! It has been a long hard painful recovery . But know this, its the 4th quarter, time to close this one out just like the others.

One day at a time!

Awesome year, let's finish this and have another!
