So is Shady a $3 Million Man?
So, since we're now three weeks into the season, and we like to play "Overreaction Planet," around here, I thought I'd start one myself.
Lesean "Shady" McCoy has played in three games for the Chiefs in the Year of Our Lord 2019, and his stats break down thusly: Week 1: 10 rush 81yds 8.1yds/carry 0 TD 1 tgts 1 rec 12yds/rec 0 TD Week 2: 11 rush 23yds 2.1yds/carry 0 TD 3 tgts 3 rec 0yds/rec 0 TD Week 3: 8 rush 54yds 6.75yds/carry 1 TD 3 tgts 3 rec 26yds 8.67yds/rec 1 TD In summary, that's 29 rushes for 158 yds, or 5.54yds/carry with 1 rushing TD. He also was targeted 7 times and caught all seven for 38 yards and another receiving TD. If we extrapolate his season (assuming he stays healthy), and he averages just 10 carries and 3 receptions a week, his numbers would be about 880 yds rushing, approximately 380 yds receiving, and a possible 10 TDs by the end of the regular season. So, my fellow CPers: Is Shady "Shady" enough to be a real $3,000,000 man? |
I have no problem with signing McCoy for a year at that price. I would be open to another year as well.
|
i think he's going to get better as the season goes on. You can see him starting to get comfortable with the team, its not like he was here all preseason.
|
Dude must be having the most fun he's ever had in his career.
|
I wouldn't mind seeing them getting an extension worked out now rather than later.
|
He’s not even in the top 16 in salary, and dude can still play.

I'll be honest; if he nets 10 TDs I wouldn't give a rat's patootie how many yards/rush or receptions he ended the season with.
I don't think it's likely, as most WRs and full-time RBs don't end a season with 10 TDs nowadays. A more realistic number would probably be around 7-8. But I'd throw a party if he did. |
He’s still a playmaker. I like having him in the mix with this team.
|
Nah he's washed - CP probably

I would like for us to feature a headed monster in MDD! McCoy Damien and Darrell. Thompson can sit his scrawny ass on the bench until he figures out to stay in bounds
|
Great signing. Kudos to Andy & the FO.
|
He is one of the most intuitive, natural runners I’ve ever watched
Now that he isn’t greasy fast any more, I see a lot of Priest in him... that kind of patience and vision is keeping him potent |
he's been doing fine for us so sure? I'm glad we have him, he had 2 TDs yesterday and did a little juke that put a defender on his knees!
|
Worth it absolutely

Great signing. I hope his ankle's okay.

Incomplete. Ask again in January.
|
Great burst and vision, quicks in space. A valued asset.
I would let the others do the thumping however. Get him out in space. |

Just for fun, if we bumped his rushes and receptions a bit, say 13 rushes a game and 5 catches, his numbers become very respectable:
1,154 yds rushing and 434 yds receiving. There are full-time RBs that would envy those numbers. |
I don't feel comfortable with any of our other backs being a lead RUNNER in December of January. Already worth it. But if he's healthy in December this is an absolute steal.
|
He clearly has some left in the tank, plus he said football is fun again which makes him want to give it his all. These players know how special they can be and it shows.

This is such a dumb thread... A) we have plenty of cap space... and B) if A is true, why the **** do you care what the man makes?
Jesus... |

If he keeps up the good work he'll be good enough for O.City to trade.
|
We have so much space and it was a 1 year deal so even if he was giving nothing it wouldn’t be a big deal money wise.
