Has there ever been a more insecure QB than Baker Mayfield?

Can’t believe this guy is still being looked at as a “future star”. If anybody should be compared to Jay Cutler, it’s him.

Actually..he’s worse

He talked shit on the Texas QB while he’s in the NFL, he took shots at his old coach who wasn’t even with the team anymore and continued doing it in the offseason, he talked shit on Rex Ryan and now he’s talking shit on Instagram comments.

Good God you dumb mother****er. You would think he spends as much time doing this petty bullshit as he does studying for a game.

He has shown talent, but man this guy is not someone you want on your team when things aren’t going well.

pugsnotdrugs19 09-27-2019 03:45 PM

He’s soft as charmin. Embarrassingly sensitive.

Just take some blame and move forward.

smithandrew051 09-27-2019 03:46 PM

Ryan Leaf might have been more insecure

DaFace 09-27-2019 03:48 PM

I was really hoping the Browns would be decent this year. Their fans deserve it.

But after hearing Mayfield run his mouth all offseason and seeing all the pundits crown them as contenders, I can't say it breaks my heart to see them looking like shit as usual.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he had a tirade like Leaf did. It’s like something is building up and is a ticking time bomb.

I really think he could start doing that type of shit if they keep losing.

Drama king and dumb. Awesome combination.

Here is a guy who walked on at Texas Tech, walked on at Oklahoma, only to win the Heisman. Who does that?

He wins the starters job at Cleveland.

All I'm seeing is a guy I'd love to have in my foxhole , it doesn't take any shit off anyone. Rex Ryan ran his mouth, all Baker did was response. Same with Cowherd. Be cool with him and it will be cool, be an asshole and he'll treat you like one.

What I don't like is young guys who haven't done anything doing TV commercials, that should be for the very elite.

Have you noticed that no other QB in the NFL does this?

The only guy I remember who was more sensitive about what was written/said about him was Ryan Leaf.

Yes, all he did was respond. To people he should not give two flying shits about.

There's a thin line between arrogance and confidence. Confidence is required. Arrogance is a mask to hide insecurity, and arrogance will bury you in a league full of grown ass men looking to make you humble.

His confidence is looking more and more like arrogance as his insecurity pops up in adversity.

Gravedigger 09-27-2019 03:58 PM

When they talk about QB's that have the Sophomore Slump, Baker's picture should flash on the screen.

Ryan Leaf, Jamarcus Russell. Actually I can remember, though not their names, at least a couple dozen QBs that were worse than Baker.

I don't remember Russell snapping at every little criticism. He just sucked ass. BADLY.

Leaf was the most insecure QB I've ever seen. He came across like a douchebag. I think Baker's team likes him and I think he's got leadership qualities. So they're entirely different.

That said... I'd be a bit embarrassed if Mahomes got all sandy in his vagina every time that nitwit skip bayless talked some shit.

He wanted to play for Texas. They didn't want him.
He then tried to play for TCU. Patterson said no, and has publicly stated that he wanted nothing to do with him or his family.
Walks onto Tech and starts 5 games, I think. Was a turnover machine, gets injured.
Comes back from injury, and then the dude quit on Tech right before their bowl game when he wasn't named the starter.
Got the media to buy into his "Poor little Baker" story and it took off from there.
Attitude hasn't changed since he has arrived in the NFL
Guy consistently trashes anyone and anything who says anything about him. So yes, I agree to is extremely insecure.

Actually played 8 games at TT, had a 64.1 comp % a 12/9 TD/INT.

His three seasons at Oklahoma were outstanding, left the college game...

comp%...68.5
TD/INT..131/30....that is fantastic
passer rating....175.4.....amazing!

The guy is young, he'll mature past a lot of what we are seeing now. I do know if I'm heading to the bad side of the tracks and can grab an NFL QB to have my back....Baker Mayfield.

let's just say he wasn't amazing at Tech. In the UT game alone, he lost 4 or 5 fumbles during the game. His nickname became Mayfumble.

BTW, stats don't tell the whole story. He was outplayed by Davis Webb

Rk Player Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate

I’ve always felt pity for the Browns and every year think, I hope they win a few games this year. But after the Hunt situation and the offseason crowning of them, I hate them as much as anyone in AFC. A very accurate FB meme comment I seen this week was, “Baker Mayfield is a sober Johnny Manzel”. Couldn’t be a better comment!
I had OBJ on my fantasy team and just traded him

Megatron96 09-27-2019 05:13 PM

Baker's been in the league for one year. He's played just 16 or 17 games.

He's had a rough start this year, and a lot of that has been his fault. He's pressing. But he's a gamer and a winner, and he has all the skills necessary to win in the NFL. IF Kitchens doesn't eff him up too bad, he'll be sort it out and he'll be fine. Kitchens needs to take control of his locker room. Not sure he is capable of doing that.

Also he needs to decide if he wants to call plays or be a HC. He's not experienced enough to do both. Solve that issue and the Browns will right the ship enough to win some games, maybe even compete for the AFC North, such as it is.

Fix the OL disaster and they have the talent on both sides of the ball to be trouble for most of the league.

Bump 09-27-2019 05:14 PM

I'm actually entertained just for the fact that there is one QB that goes off-script.

chiefzilla1501 09-27-2019 05:16 PM

Baker has talent. But the worst possible thing he could have gotten was an enabler. Freddie kitchens is his enabler... That is, until baker inevitably throws him under the bus.

I still kinda like Baker. I think he has game, but he needs structure, and Dorsey didn't give him anything. Single worse thing Dorsey has ever done is hire Freddy Kitchens as the HC.

DRM08 09-27-2019 05:27 PM

Hope the Ravens sack him about 8 times with some fumbles and INT’s thrown in for good measure.

Stop. Comparing Tebow to Baker in terms of QB skills is ridiculous.

Tebow couldn't throw the ball accurately ever.

Tebow couldn't learn to read a defense, ever.

Tebow never had the arm strength or the arm talent that Baker has.

Baker in his first game in the NFL proved he was a far better QB than Tebow was in his last.

Tebow was a nice guy, but as a NFL QB he was a nice fullback.

Nobody is saying he sucks because he's cocky. He may have thin skin which is not what I want out of a qb. It's not like he's going out there and proving his haters wrong. He looks distracted and frustrated. Think it was Phil simms who said you'll really know who the browns are once they go on a losing streak. With players like obj and baker, do they have the locker room to positively pump that locker room to bounce back? Now I still wonder if baker can turn it around with better coaching. But I think the coaching is failing him baker because baker is high maintenance and has to be handled just right to be successful.

The guy is how old? He has how much NFL experience?

Baker may be playing like shit this season, but at least he is in tons of commercials airing constantly. Priorities.

The guy is how old and he already has this much drama when he isn't even playing well at all?

He wins the starters job at Cleveland.

All I'm seeing is a guy I'd love to have in my foxhole , it doesn't take any shit off anyone. Rex Ryan ran his mouth, all Baker did was response. Same with Cowherd. Be cool with him and it will be cool, be an asshole and he'll treat you like one.

What I don't like is young guys who haven't done anything doing TV commercials, that should be for the very elite.

You can curl up next to him in the fox hole, tell him how he's your hero and all that, give him a kiss on the cheek and tell him sweet nothings in his ear.

A regular love story.
