Chiefs tiebreakers - win with Ravens, lose with Texans, Colts

We are set up for a classic Reidian Run.

Jerok 10-28-2019 11:07 AM

I needed this. We still have a shot at the 2 seed.

jjchieffan 10-28-2019 11:13 AM

We're going to go 8-0 from here. That means holding the tiebreaker against the Pats. The Pats are also losing to the Ravens and the Cowboys to finish 13-3. Colts, Titans, and Texans finish with 4 or more losses. Road to the Superbowl goes through KC!!

Hammock Parties 10-28-2019 11:13 AM

Another thing to think about is the Jags are still very much in play for that division.

They could leapfrog both of those teams and we win the tiebreaker there. LMAO

pugsnotdrugs19 10-28-2019 11:23 AM

2 or 3 seed is optimal

ShowtimeSBMVP 10-28-2019 11:26 AM

Three way tie backer for 2nd seed has a real shot of coming into play

There's no three-way tiebreaker.

First they separate the tie in the division.

Then the Chiefs go to tiebreakers with the division winner.

Ah of course

So let's say....

Baltimore beats Houston
Houston beats KC
KC beats Baltimore

All finish 11-5

We go to conference record?

Wtf are you talking about ? There is too

Chiefs ravens and colts or Texans can all end up 12-4 or 11-5

The best chance.

Everyone is basically tied, and we have the easiest schedule.

ShowtimeSBMVP 10-28-2019 11:38 AM

Head-to-head sweep (only if a team has won or lost all games against the teams in tiebreaker)
W-L in conference games
W-L in common games, minimum of four.
Strength of victory
Strength of schedule
Sum of conference rankings in points scored + points against
Sum of league rankings in points scored + points against
Point differential in conference games
Point differential in all games
Best net touchdowns in all games.
Coin toss.

If 3 teams have same record for 2 seed

ShowtimeSBMVP 10-28-2019 11:39 AM

So if Houston beats Baltimore they would get the 2nd seed Cause they beat KC and Baltimore

YontsRBake 10-28-2019 11:42 AM

We definitely want to play Buffalo and not the 2nd place AFC South team. Think the 4 seed is actually ideal if we can't get the bye.

Indy beat them and us so they would get the 2 seed in that scenario.

#2 seed? I'm just hoping to make the playoffs.

Yeah if we run that same offense with a healthy Mahomes and a more aggressive D.....we aren't losing many.

Chiefs didn't have Watkins or Hill against Texans/Colts...Texans just lost Watt for the season..

Ravens have a brutal final 8.....NE, HOU, LAR, SF, BUF.

Colts barely beat Flacco at the buzzer...

Chiefs should/could be 11-5 possibly 12-4.

pugsnotdrugs19 10-28-2019 03:32 PM

This is why playing these NFC games without Mahomes made for perfect timing.

Least possible impact on standings.

Yes non conference losses are the least impactful of all losses.

smithandrew051 10-28-2019 04:01 PM

Posted this in another thread, but it’s more appropriate here:

I think 12-4 is very possible if we win this week.

Vikings-Possible tough game.
@ Titans-Absolutely nothing special
@ LAC (Mexico)-Again, they’re nothing special
Bye
Raiders-They suck and we’re coming off a bye week
@Patriots-Toughest game remaining on the schedule by far
Broncos-Basically a bye. Rest anyone who’s dinged up.
@Bears-Good defense, but atrocious offense. Very winnable.
Chargers-Chargers may not be playing for anything by this point.

I would almost be shocked if 12-4 didn’t get us the 2 seed. The Ravens probably have 2 more losses in them somewhere. Patriots, Rams, 49ers, Bills. Brutal second half for them.

Colts probably lose at Houston and at New Orleans. I would bet they drop at least one more. They really don’t look like a 12 win team to me.

Houston has 3 losses already. They probably lose at the Ravens and to the Patriots.

Yehoodi 10-28-2019 04:04 PM

The Chiefs are in solid shape for the playoffs.

Looks like they will be able to handle the AFCW so long at Oakland does not turn it on, KC however can put a strangle hold if they beat Oakland in a few weeks, going 2-0 against Oakland.

Although Houston is in second place in the AFCS, it has an opportunity to beat Balt to get the three way tiebreaker. Also, Houston only has one conference loss and others have at least two. Colts might win the division to take Houston out of the equation.

As the OP says, the other teams have a tougher road for the second half of the season. so that helps.

Pats are 8-0 but they were 10-0 in 2015 and finished 2-4 in last 6 games to end up 12-4. Be interesting to see where the Pats end up. Pats need to get healthy.

I can see 12-4 in the mix, and if so, you do have a great shot at the #2 seed. Hou has to play Indy one more time so at least one more loss btw the two of them as with hou/balt game.

Given the tough schedule of Hou/Indy/Balt might be tough to see two of them going 12-4, maybe just one of them. Just depends on which one, if at all and the tiebreaker.

I think the Minn game this weekend will be key. Hate to get a 4th loss so soon in the schedule.

Pats game is kind of a wild card atm, both teams are injured and although Pats are 8-0 be nice to see how they do against stronger opponents to see where the Pats stand this year.

Yep, a lot can change. No Hilton, No Watt....this time last week, they were fine.

Kind of amazing that Hill, Watkins and Mahomes have only played one quarter together this season...

JakeF 11-01-2019 12:03 PM

The Patriots are already prepared for us. They have the best defense against the deep pass in the league. They have gearing up to make sure they make another Super bowl since the end of last year.

You're assuming they are going to remain healthy...their offense is hanging by a thread as far as depth is concerned. If they were to lose Edleman or White they would be in trouble.

#2 seed is still up for grabs

Remaining schedules, with winning teams in bold.

Colts: PIT, MIA, JAX, HOU, TEN, TB, NO, CAR, JAX
Texans: JAX, BAL, IND, NE, DEN, TEN, TB, TEN
Ravens: NE, CIN, HOU, LAR, SF, BUF, NYJ, CLE, PIT
Chiefs: MIN, TEN, LAC, OAK, NE, DEN, CHI, LAC

Chiefs tiebreakers - win with Ravens, lose with Texans, Colts

So, the Chiefs have one big advantage here. We only play three winning teams the rest of the way, one of which is the shitty Titans.

The Colts play six, the Texans six, the Ravens five.

We are set up for a classic Reidian Run.

Not sure why you guys are giving up on the 1 seed. If the Chiefs win out, they only need the Patriots to drop 2 games to get the 1 seed. With the Ravens, Cowboys, Eagles, and Texans all coming up, that's not an impossible ask, especially if more injuries occur.

Mind you, I don't think the Chiefs will get the 1 seed, and if the Pat's win this week while the Chiefs lose, sure, expecting the Pat's to go sub 500 the rest of the way is a stretch. But that hasn't happened yet, and the 1 seed is still very much a possibility. So why give up on it so soon?

Yes it is an outside shot but you never know.

The Pats were 10-0 in 2015 going into late Nov. had a few more injuries pile up and went 2-4 and Denver finished with the #1 seed. Pats #2 at 12-4.

So anything can happen. Pats got a tough 2nd half to their schedule.

Even if you loose to Minn you still can go 12-4. Pats could end up 12-4, it is what happened with Denver/Pats in 2015. Pats were rolling to the #1 seed and went 2-4 in the last 6 games.

Either way be nice if you guys get the 2 seed.

Man...I dont trust Cousins. If they heat him up like Rodgers...he'll fold. If you look at their schedule...it's in line with his career. He wins against bad teams...

Vikings may win...but they only put up 6 against the Bears and 19, last week at home, against the Redskins.

He's not going to make miracle throws like Rodgers...which were really the difference in that game.

The only time they’ve been healthy was the very first drive of week 1

Yes health is key. And at times that is more important than the seeding. So agreed.

Be nice if you guys are running on all cylinders come Jan.

Looks like you guys should be able to secure the division so you will at least be the #4 seed, a home playoff game and then likely two road games. As you beat Balt. you have a good shot at the #3 seed if hou/indy end up with the #2 seed and NE at #1.

If this defense continues to play like this and Pat comes back healthy, this team could win out.

Problem is, their heavy advantage with the officials becomes more pronounced at home.

Try to get a holding call in Foxborough. It doesn't happen often.

Actually, I like Buffalo against the Ravens - just not sure if they can score enough. Same with 49ers, except the niners will score on BAL. Can't believe that BAL will lose to PIT, though.

Until they get a quarterback to replace their running back under center, I'm not afraid of the Ravens. His success is going to be short lived. The only reason that they beat the Patriots was because the Patriots haven't played a good team yet and they came in unprepared. That's rare for a BB team, I know. But it happened last night.

Nah, 12-4 would do it for sure I think.

Run the table and I think we may just get HFA.

You can generally feel when these Reid Chiefs teams are about to roll. This one has that feel IMO.

6-1 to finish the year at worst barring drastic injuries.

YES!!!!

THE REIDIAN RUN HAS BEGUN!!!

Clay, why no remaining schedules for the Bills or Pats?

O.city 11-04-2019 10:39 AM

Man, that was a big win yesterday.

Legit look ahead that the Chiefs could/should win out.

Although, winning out puts them at ……...a certain record.

Yeah, and 7-0 is a realistic possibility. If the Chiefs are healthy, they can beat New England.
