Does a win on Sunday hurt the Chiefs?

With a Chiefs win of a noon game on Sunday, the Texans will likely pull their starters for their 3:25 game against the Titans. The Titans likely win in this scenario and would play the Chiefs in the first round of the playoffs. The Chiefs never and will never beat the Titans, as Andy usually find the stupidest ways to lose to this abysmal franchise. BUT, if the Chiefs tank and lose to the Chargers... the Bills, Steelers, or Raiders become a more likely Wild Card opponent-- regardless of Texans/Titans outcome.

Pats obviously not losing, so answer the question with that in mind.

**** the NFL scheduling this week. All start times should be the same.

MMXcalibur 12-25-2019 11:24 AM

If you're afraid of the Tennessee Titans, then you're not Super Bowl worthy anyways.

IowaHawkeyeChief 12-25-2019 11:25 AM

You are a stupid mother ****ing moron to think the Titans will beat us in our house... We are way healthier than the game we played in Nashville and they had to win the ****ing Powerball to beat us... You should lose your thread starting privileges for this stupidity...

Why Not? 12-25-2019 11:26 AM

Nope. Chiefs lose and Texans win, Texans are the 3. Means we would probably get Baltimore first and the slight chance of hosting the CCG pretty much is reduced to no chance. Plus playing to lose to try to manipulate your next opponent is a loser’s mentality. If the Chiefs are the contenders we think they are, they destroy the Tits next week.

Also needed a powerball with:

Succop's frozen ball FG
Mariota's TD pass/reception

KCUnited 12-25-2019 11:30 AM

Nah. These guys having fun and peaking going into the playoffs is more critical than trying to dictate matchups.

tyecopeland 12-25-2019 11:41 AM

We could lose to any of the teams we will face in the wild card round. But we won't. I'd rather face the Steelers but not by much. I think we are much better prepared for a Derrick Henry now than we were, although we should have never let him do that to us in the first place.

loochy 12-25-2019 11:45 AM

No..LMAO. A legit contender shouldn't be afraid of anyone...let alone a scrub team like the Titans

BossChief 12-25-2019 11:49 AM

I can’t believe anyone is worried about the possibility of playing the Titans.

We would beat them by multiple scores.

comochiefsfan 12-25-2019 11:51 AM

If we can’t beat the Titans at home with this team then just disband the whole ****ing franchise.

It’s a win-win, because if we win the game then we move on in the playoffs. If we lose I’ll finally be able to give up hope on this franchise and spend my falls more productively.

But it won’t matter because we’re going to kill them.

Reerun_KC 12-25-2019 11:51 AM

The only, ONLY thing that scares me in the playoffs is Andy Reid.

No team, players other coaching staff, etc.

Andy Reid is the biggest threat to us failing than any other possible scenario.

Nobody is afraid of anybody. It is just that Tennessee is playing like a team much better than their record. Ever since they started Tannehill they've been one of the best teams in the NFL. Playing the weaker of the two wildcard teams gives us the best chance of victory.

We already lost to them at home. They COULD definitely beat us. There is no destiny in football. You always have a chance to lose even if you are the better team due to luck and happenstance.

The Chiefs will beat the mother****ing shit out of the Tennessee Titans or anyone else they have to play in the first round of the playoffs.

Or the second round.

Or the third round.

Rain Man 12-25-2019 11:58 AM

The Chiefs won't worry who the opponents are. The opponents will worry about who the Chiefs are right now. This team is hulking out.

Good post. The Titans are beating the texans no matter what the chiefs do though. Vrabel was smart to rest henry and a few others against the saints, knowing that game had no bearing on the seeding. We needed pitt to lose one more afc game and they did.

The tacks are not going to be an easy out

Tannehill has a great story this season. The man has been balling out. If you guys have a good pass rush though, he tends to take a few sacks in the first half of games.

One of the best teams in the league? They're going to be on a 3 game losing streak after the Texans beat them again on Sunday. They're an 8-8 team in a league full of teams just like them, that end up somewhere between 6-10 and 10-6 depending on which way the bounces go.

As far as playing the weaker of the wildcard teams goes, we should blow either of them off the field now that we're healthy and close to full strength. We're the team everyone is afraid to play now, not the other way around.

I mean if we lose to TEN again, and at home, then what were we really doing this year anyway?

I'll be happy with any win but I feel like playing BUF is gonna be a tough, physical, grinding game. I think we actually have a chance to do to TEN what we did to IND last year.

**** no. We’re gonna beat whoever we play in the first round. I think the team prob hopes it’s Tenn just to get a little redemption. We were down to only 5 OL available by the second quarter (I think). We weren’t healthy at all and we’re still finding our oats on defense. We dominated them except for the scoreboard. I think we roll them in the playoffs. Andy being 1-9 against them is the only thing that is a concern for me. But I think he finally beats the only team he doesn’t have 2 wins or more against. The team is playing well in all 3 phases, and we’re streaking and peaking at the right time.

Wilson8 12-25-2019 05:46 PM

I have been a Kansas City Chiefs fan from when they moved to Kansas City. I very much want them to win a Super Bowl again. I welcome the challenge of beating teams like a Tannehill lead Titans team, a Brady led Patriots team, and a Jackson led Ravens team. No challenge or team will be easy, but this year’s Kansas City Chiefs with all of its parts, can and will win.

Before a game begins, it is like a great book with its storyline yet to be revealed. The heroics of our team and individual players, is why we watch.

Let the games begin.

I’m super excited about the playoffs and this team but will always be some what reserved when it comes to Reid’s abilit to close out games.

What even worse, is he lost both of those games the exact same way. He just flat out hates running the football. I don't care how many running backs were injured against Indy, all we had to do was run a few extra minutes of game time and we win.

Same thing against the Titans. I think we rushed the ball 11 times in that game, not counting Smith scrambles.

There have only ever been 4 instances where a team lost after having at least an 18 point second half lead in the playoffs, IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL, and Reid's Chiefs have 2 of those losses.

Take that fact, add in the 95 & 97 playoff losses, add the no punt game, and add last year, with the neutral zone infraction and Romo calling out the Patriots offensive plays that we couldn't stop, and it all equals why the Chiefs will never get the benefit of the doubt from me, until we win a Lombardi Trophy.

I have been all-in with the Chiefs too many times just to get crushed. I love Mahomes, and can't believe we finally have a real, first round franchise QB, who is the best QB in the league, but even he couldn't overcome "because Chiefs" last year.

The Chiefs have always been, and always will be my team, I just watch every playoff game now waiting for the other shoe to drop.

It’s a fair point. I think many of us are seeing Ravens as almost bulletproof, but they still have to beat a legit team in the divisional round. Watson is capable of taking the Texans on his back and making that game go down to the wire.

May not have been worth it, but gotta play the hand you’re dealt. Do you think a player like Suggs, who hates Tom Brady and the Pats wont be a nice peace to have when we play them again? He’s played against him in high stakes situations before. He’s the only person on this roster with a SB ring. You don’t think that leadership and determination will help out? Would I rather have a bye than Suggs? **** yes I would. But we played that game against Tenn as beat up as we’ve been. We were down to no O line backups. Mahomes was hurt. Shit happens sometimes. This team can overcome that regular season loss, they can overcome playing on the road. If you don’t believe that, then you haven’t been watching the games close enough. This team is peaking, and the defense is playing at a championship level.
