Is anyone doing Dry January?

This is boring but I can feel the weight coming off

Pablo 01-03-2020 08:13 PM

Thought about it for a second, then realized I'd have to watch Chiefs playoff games sober and knew it wasn't for me.

Bearcat 01-03-2020 08:24 PM

Just enough time to lose all the water weight.

ChiTown 01-03-2020 08:28 PM

I’m in the midst of completing a 30-Day dry streak right now. I’m headed to Aruba next week, so I’ll be blowing that out of the water as soon as I get down there

**** no. If you are going to go dry, doing it during the summer when you want to look lean anyway.

The winter is for boozing, eating and adding muscle.

I've thought about it. I go the last hour/hour and a half so I don't have to deal with do a set and then look at my phone crowd.

Same thing we did in the military. pt, shower, eat, work.

Coochie liquor 01-03-2020 09:10 PM

Pat Mahomes is participating in “Going In Dry” January. AFC teams beware!

2112 01-03-2020 09:31 PM

I did it last year. Felt great, it’s kind of like a cleanse/unpickle my liver. This year I started right after Xmas because I was on a rampage in December with a wedding, vacation and the holidays.

Yeah those were a hit every where i took them. And they were also so damn convenient, right on the way home. The OK Joe's is over in midtown Pigsknuckle so a bit out of the way.

BWillie 01-03-2020 10:53 PM

No absolutely not.

I drink about 20 times a year. And those days are almost always the best days of the year.

Someday we'll get alcosynth to the market and then ill drink almost daily

Damn. That sucks man.

kjwood75nro 01-04-2020 02:00 AM

The 2-month window between the end of Sober October and the beginning of Dry January is too short for me to do neither one.

Mahomes_Is_God 01-04-2020 02:08 AM

Aw shit, I didn't even know this was a thing. Better luck next year I guess.

Buehler445 01-04-2020 02:46 AM

Man I barely drink anymore. I’ve had like 2 beers this year.

I work too much to be boozing. Besides that the last thing my fat ass needs is empty calories.

saphojunkie 01-04-2020 03:11 AM

I did a 30 day healthy living challenge last year that included not drinking. Lost 27 pounds in 30 days. It taught me a bunch of easy choices to make with diet and I got down 40 pounds. Starting the same program on January 6th.

Like last year, I imagine there will be some whiskeys on playoff days, but overall it's the best decision I ever made. Haven't been under 200 lbs since high school... until this year. :)

Tribal Warfare 01-04-2020 03:38 AM

That's malicious peekaboo you're suggesting especially in stealth :D

scho63 01-04-2020 03:43 AM

Does a DRY martini count?

Miles 01-04-2020 04:32 AM

Not until KC is done for the year.

InChiefsHeaven 01-04-2020 07:16 AM

Probably not the whole month, but I'm definitely cutting back after the over indulgence of December. What's weird is, I've cut back on my drinking considerably the last 2 years, so this December's "overindulgence" would have been par for the course a couple of years ago.

Growth I guess.

I always have my best workouts when in a fasting state. Usually around noon after a 14-16 hour fast. I never would have believed that when young either.

crayzkirk 01-04-2020 09:16 AM

My woman and I are doing one week a month, no alcohol, eating healthy, exercise, etc. So, being good this week means we can drink some beer and eat badly next weekend for the Chiefs game.

I like to take a month each year and go no alcohol. The week a month sounds like a good way to make a change.

The cardio aspect of my lifts seems much better when I'm fasted, but I find I run out of gas pretty quickly on heavy lifting days on a fast.

I'm sure its somehwat different for different people but your natural HGH levels peak about 14hrs into a fast. Ive set all my bench PR's when fasted and have always felt stronger.

Any run I do thats 13 or so miles or less I do fasted as well unless I am doing tempo work or running a race. I always eat before races or hard long runs and do short hard runs fasted.

Key is to get protein and carbs quickly after the workouts.

Abba-Dabba 01-04-2020 09:36 AM

pfft, dry january rofl

SAUTO 01-04-2020 09:36 AM

I haven’t drank since I saw you last...

Abba-Dabba 01-04-2020 09:38 AM

I would think January would be one of the worst months to pick as a dry month. Couldn't you pick a month where you can go out and be active? Who wants to be stuck inside in the cold months while sober? **** that nonsense.

oldman 01-04-2020 09:40 AM

Define "dry". Does that mean no drinking or no sex? My answer would be no to option 1 and HELL NO!! to option 2.

Seriously, the older I get, the less I drink. I'd guess I had less than a 6 pack over the last month and maybe 3 or 4 straight Jameson's in the same period. That may change starting next weekend.

No reason to stay inside just because its "cold" outside.

bdj23 01-04-2020 09:45 AM

I'm not an alcoholic, I usually drink 1 day a week. But I binge on that one day. I've been sick off of 2020 so I haven't had any yet.

That's true.

But at the same time people tend to stay in more when it is colder.

Black History Month
Equality Month

This may not be the place to put this, but I've noticed something kind of funny. It's been a little fad in the past year for some people to put signs in their yards that say, "Hate doesn't happen in this house, and we welcome immigrants to our community." (And some other stuff - I'm sure I've got the wording wrong.) But the funny thing is that I tend to see them in wealthy neighborhoods where immigrants are never going to live.

What about it don't you like? To each their own, but is it due to how you feel the next day or the taste? I'd drink everyday if it didn't make me feel like shit the next day or was unhealthy.

The mornings after suck ass. I was told hangovers suck once you hit 30. It took me a few years after 30 to feel like complete shit. I could have 5-6 which isnt alot, get barely drunk, hydrate and eat properly I'd still feel tired the next day.
