Joe Montana has drawn a line in the sand and chosen sides
No mention of KC at all. .
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Congratulations <a href="https://twitter.com/49ers?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@49ers</a> , see you in Miami!</p>— Joseph Montana (@JoeMontana) <a href="https://twitter.com/JoeMontana/status/1219105514337910784?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> See you in Miami Joe https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EOX4BpWX...jpg&name=large |
Hopefully him and Tony G can hang out together. Tony G needs to keep Chiefs out of his mouth. Mr. Atlanta made my career. **** him
|
I hope he gets assaulted with a rusty spoon!
Tony G too. |
I became a Chiefs fan because Joe Montana retired in KC.
Sorry, I can't hate the man. |
He can suck it, long and hard.
|
I don’t blame him, neither should anyone else
|
What do you expect? How long was he there? How long was he here? What did he accomplish there? What did he accomplish here?
Cmon man. |
The guy did adds for Sketchers.
|
Makes sense boys. That town never stopped loving him.
And man, theres a TON of Mahomes envy. He's too good. You boys see Deon Sanders on GMFB? Mahomes makes a lot of greats sick because of not only his huge numbers, but the razzle dazzle (only Mahomes) way of doing it. And he's only 24. |
Who else was he going to pick? Of course he wants the niners. Can't fault him for that.
|
I believe he’s always said that he will root for KC as long as they aren’t playing SF. That’s understandable
|
Quote:
Same here. DT and Neil Smith helped too. I don't blame Montana either - he won 4 SBs with the 49ers. |
Quote:
That's the thing - he doesn't have that asshole attitude like Deon. And they're jealous. |
That’s alright. We got Brad Pitt on our side.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Someone is excited that the <a href="https://twitter.com/Chiefs?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@chiefs</a> are going to <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/SuperBowlLIV?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#SuperBowlLIV</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/sagawards?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#sagawards</a> <a href="https://t.co/ikPV2XM8L4">pic.twitter.com/ikPV2XM8L4</a></p>— SAG Awards® (@SAGawards) <a href="https://twitter.com/SAGawards/status/1219103753216786432?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">January 20, 2020</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Dumb. |
I get it and don't really care but come on dude. How hard would it have been to congratulate the Chiefs too? San Fran was your "first love". Fine. But we were the ones that took you when that whore dumped you for a younger man.
|
Gotta find disrespect somewhere, I guess.
|
There’s no reason to get butthurt over this. Lots of players have Hall of Fame careers with one team and play a year or two with another team at the end.
Should Michael Jordan always make sure he mentions the Washington Wizards whenever the Bulls play for the NBA championship? The thread starter needs to just get over it and enjoy the ride. |
ive worn a 19 joe montana jersey on game days since joes first year in KC. i have no problem with him not mentioning us.
CHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFS!!!! |
Quote:
Yes. If the wizards make the nba finals he should say something nice. |
Pitt being from Springfield, not too much of a surprise.

i will do what i must |
Well, he did predict a Chiefs/Niners Super Bowl... so give him credit for that.
|
Doesn’t matter to me.. Enjoyed watching him when he was here but he won SBs with them.. We have enough fans without him..
|
Yeah, figures. Joe was cool when he came here and I was 11 and 12 years old, playing NFL '94 on Sega and shit, and until Mahomes, no QB had taken us farther in my lifetime...but Patrick is my guy now. I'm riding with Mahomes. Joe can rep SF all he wants. That's the past. Mahomes is the present. And he's the future.
|
He was at the AFC Championship Game last year - that's the only time I've actually seen him with my own eyes. He went to the trouble of traveling to Kansas City for that game. It's not like he doesn't like us. But seriously, how could anybody expect him to root for the Chiefs over the Niners?
|
Quote:
I did read an article that says lynch and shanahan went out of their way to invite the old niners to training camp and make them feel welcome and part of the team so Maybe that helped Joe feel welcome back. Who knows why he still likes that shit franchise. |
this is the moment where i make joe montana emperor palpatine and jimmy G darth vader....right?
right? |
Quote:
So you're saying Mahomes is Luke but I don't see Jimmy G being Mahomes Father . The Force is with Mahomes |
Quote:
otherwise princess clark would literally be kissing andy solo |
I always felt Montana humored us when he was here and just looking for one more chance.
It was close. When he announced he was retiring WHILE in SF. I knew. Still like him. Those were great times. But-We have Mahomes. / |

Well yeah.
How dos he really lose though? He likes both teams....win/win. |
Dont worry, Joe is waiting to congratulate us after we beat the 49ers
|
this is a non-issue. He got 4 rings in San Fran.
Non-story. |
Quote:
I ain't mad at him. We've got MAHOMES. |
Joe is still cool in my book.
Doesn't he own half the commercial property around Levis stadium? Remember back in Nov 97 when he lead the chiefs to a 44-9 victory over the niners? to this day I still call SF the forty four to niners. |
Quote:
No, I don't remember that. Montana retired in March of 1995. I remember being at Arrowhead in Sept 1994 when he led the Chiefs to 24-17 victory over the 49ers. Joe threw the first Chiefs 2 pt conversion since the 2pt was reinstated (to JJ Birden) and DT sacked Steve Young for a safety...I remember THAT. |
Quote:
That was awesome. :$2500: |
You would think the man could stop masturbating long enough to come downstairs and wish the Chiefs well, but whatchya gonna do? He's Joe Montana.
|
Quote:
It was Gannon |
Quote:
That was Rich Gannon not Joe |

23 years, sometimes things are remembered "a bit off". I do remember the score correctly and would be happy to see that same score again |
This is the Super Bowl we should have got back in '94. I remember waking up the morning of the championship games convinced it would be Montana v. Young. What a piece of shit that day turned out to be. :sulk:

2 of the worst SBs ever. |

Has anyone ever mentioned that?? |

Montana is a 49er.
Why wouldn’t he root for them over the Chiefs? |
Quote:
I think that's why Marty resigned. "This asshole keeps sticking me with Grbac and I keep winning with Gannon..." |

I seen Joe once. Only Arrowhead game Ive ever been to.
Joe was shut out 17 to zip by Natron Means and the Chargers or it was the LA Rams with Bettis? So long ago now i just cant remember which team it was |

The day before. The Nubs went to K-st with a 3rd string quarterback and beat Chad May in his house. I remember that part of my weekend a lot better |

What about Marty telling defensive players during Raiders week to not worry about getting personal fouls and he'd pick up the tab on any fines levied by the NFL?? |
If not for Montana i'd never have been a Chiefs fan. I'm not from K.C, and Montana is a huge part of my "How i became a Chiefs fan" story.
And every time ive seen Montana talk Chiefs he's always rooting for us. No doubt he was rooting for us against Tennessee. I don't need a social media post to know he was. |
Quote:
That was the first NFL game i had ever watched. |
How young are some of you? My first jersey was a Bill Kenney jersey. But my love came from Marty and Steve DeBerg.
|
Come on now, we all know is really the "Both teams escaped Alex Smith" Bowl.
|
There is no reason to be upset with Joe, we just got him when he was washed up. I'll always appreciate the joy he gave me, when he smoked Elway on MNF.
That said, if he is cheering for the 9ers in the Superbowl, I hope his bursa acts up in his dick arm elbow. |
No joe picked the chiefs to win it all!

Joe Montana (brand) is going to be all over with publicity and paid features the next 2 weeks.
He would be dumb if he mentioned anything that would cut off either fanbase. |
I remember Joe; he helped make the Chiefs a national draw. I never liked the Chiefs giving up draft picks for other teams (49ers) quarterbacks and wanted them to at least try drafting someone. He wanted to wear 16 however that number was retired and he didn't make a big deal about it.
He was better than anyone the Chiefs put on the field at QB in a long time however he was a shell of his former self. Still mentally smart, just not physically able to cash all of the checks he mentally was writing. Chiefs could have drafted him, I think they took someone named Steve Fuller instead. Now that brings back some bad memories of Kenney/Fuller swapping in and out of games depending on down and distance. |
I've got no issue with Joe. He was with the other team longer. And while he was a very good quarterback in the NFL, it's not like he was Patrick Mahomes II or something.
|
Kewl story. He's a bit of a laughing stock among the media. He asks for money for each interview... I bet times are tough.

The first game I actually watched was 49ers/Bengals Super Bowl when Montana hit Taylor for the win (John Candy game). It wasnt long after that DeBerg became the Chiefs QB and we went to the playoffs, I remember being young enough that I thought the words "wild card" sounded cool. "The Chiefs are the WILD CARD. That's awesome!!" Maybe I even equated it with Uno. I remember losing to Marino in Miami, and feeling like I had been gypped. Didn't realize at the time I needed to get used to that feeling. Kevin Harlan was THE voice of the Chiefs on 101.1 the Fox, and I liked the Chiefs well enough. I started playing Madden football on Super Nintendo, and Tecmo Bowl on the regular Nintendo...and then we got Joe. And Marcus. And I got hit with that fevah. We went to the AFC Championship. And Joe got hit with a helmet-to-helmet that was so brutal it wouldn't just be a penalty, someone would've been ejected and fined. I figured we'd be back the next year, we had JOE!!! And we didn't. And so Bono became the starter...and we didn't. Then came the Gannon/Grbac years...and we didn't. Then Vermeil gave us real hope...but it was such a horrid putrid defense, and no real WRs on offense...so we didn't. And Herm...no duh, we didn't. The Pioli years...and we didn't... So Alex Smith came, and I was conditioned not to get my hopes up for another 49er retread, because I had been seeing that same show my whole life. And now? It's MAHOMES. :) |

Mahomes in 4 playoff games:
1,188 Yards 11 TD 0 INT 115.2 Rating 62.7 Comp% 125 Rushing Yards 2 Rushing TDs 3-1 W/L Joe Montana in 4 SBs: 1,142 Yards 11 TD 0 INT 127.8 Rating 68.0 Comp% 105 Rushing Yards 2 Rushing TDs 4-0 W/L I should have put this here instead of spazzing out and making an entire thread. Anyway I think the resemblance is amazing. |
