I hate Joe Buck
 

I have a feeling the announcers will be 49er leaning during the broadcast. I generally hate listening to Buck. For out of towners, how is it listening to games on the 101.5 app? Is it live or have a slight delay?

The whole bias thing with Buck is overblown. He just likes to suck off the better team/player. In the 2014 WS he kept going down on Bumgarner because he was putting on an all time pitching display. In the 2015 WS he kept gushing about the Royals and afterwards said they were the best team he'd ever seen.

He's going to be relentless in his praise for Mahomes. He's probably practicing just what he'll say when Mahomes rips the 9ers throats out. I highly doubt he's going to be leaning SF.

I think the only one that will have the game is kcfx. Way delayed. About 1 to 1.5 minutes.



OH MY IT HAPPENED

Find a local radio station doing the Westwood broadcast. Kevin Harlan is doing the game. If you listen over the air it's about 3-5 seconds ahead of the tv broadcast.

FOX is in bed with NFC due to their contracts (NFC Championship, NFC Playoffs, ton of regular season NFC games). I would expect them to lean toward the Niners based on this.

Aikman also has the whole "insecure about Mahomes" thing going for him as well. After he ran his mouth about rings, it is not in his interest to see Mahomes start winning rings.

It's odd to me how the hatred really took off.. I mean, I get Royals fans were kind of butthurt about his love for MadBum, but I never really heard about the hatred before then and now it's all the rage to say you hate him. :shrug:

I've never really minded listening to him, even though he's obviously made for baseball.

The guy is great at his job especially in regards to capturing the excitement for the common tshirt fan.

I'd roll with the Westwood One broadcast. Cannot get enough of Kevin Harlan, he's the best in the business.

On a semi-related note:

It felt like Al Michaels really started to fall off a bit this year.

Al's a legend and can choose when he gets to hang it up, but I wouldn't mind seeing NBC transition to Tirico sometime in the near future.

Tirico is a superstar announcer IMO and it's a shame he isn't calling NFL games regularly.

Last game they didn't allow mobile streaming for the team radio call. You could listen from a desktop or laptop though. Apart from that, the only way I know to listen if you don't get the station is Sirius radio or NFL game pass.

Delays tend to depend on how you're watching. Streaming services like Hulu tend to have some slight lag compared to cable. But if you have a DVR you can sync it up no matter how you're watching, it's just you might be watching 5-10 seconds behind what's live.

Joe Buck Pissed In My Shoes

Back when I was 11 and living in St. Louis, my parents decided I was too smart to be wasting my time in public schools and started seeking out private schools. The choice was eventually narrowed to two: John Burroughs and Country Day. I took the admittance test for each, but a kid I really hated from the public school I had attended was also trying to get into Burroughs, so I tanked that test.

Come fall, I was a seventh-grader at St. Louis Country Day School (known as CODASCO for short), whose famous alums include Vincent Price and John Danforth. And so began a year of sheer living hell. Most of the kids at CODASCO came from monied families, while I was this socially inept middle-class kid who wore the same Sears-bought suit every day. I was an immediate target.

One of my classmates was Joe Buck, the son of legendary Cardinals announcer Jack Buck. Joe was kind of a big, fat kid, but he had all the airs of social entitlement. Typical of the kind of stupid crap Buck would pull on me was to ask me if I "knew" my mother or to mock my attire. On more than one occasion, he was one of the ringleaders as five or six kids would decide to simultaneously throttle me.

But the final indignity came on a spring afternoon when we had gym class. We all changed into our standard-issue t-shirts and shorts and trotted out to the baseball field. All, that is, except Joe Buck, who bolted out of the locker room about a minute behind the rest. And when gym period was over, and we returned to the locker room, there were my Docksides-knockoff loafers, filled with the acrid stench of urine. Buck denied it, and the gym teacher didn't really give a shiat.

I had to wear my gym sneakers the rest of the day, then tearfully explain to my parents what had happened. They decided to press the issue, and it culminated in Joe and his mom and my mother and I all meeting with the headmaster. Joe denied it, I couldn't prove it, and the headmaster made us shake hands. I knew the remaining months were only going to be worse. The group beatings and mockery intensified. I barely passed my way through the seventh grade, and the next year I was back in public school. The torment continued -- hey, I was a real dork -- but at least it was free.

Look, kids can do cruel things. Joe was looking to be one of the guys, and I was an easy mark. He couldn't have any idea that my home life was simultaneously crumbling, and that what could have been a respite (time in school, away from home) was instead just compounding my nightmare. I suppose I should forgive the guy. But I can't.

I've managed to slog through a pretty respectable career as a writer. Joe, with his family ties and -- even I have to admit -- considerable talent, is the voice of FOX Sports. And every time I watch a marquee sporting event on FOX, I can't help but pause and reflect that, all those many years ago, that prick pissed in my shoes.

Anyone who hasn't seen it should watch the Joe Buck clip where he gets owned on his own show by Artie Lange. Paul Rudd and Jason Sudeikis were guests as well and theres brief mentions of them being KC fans.

Lol, I don’t think the show lasted past that episode. It was so bad I felt sorry for Buck. Then I listened to him call two royals World Series and that thought never entered my mind again.

Joe is the absolute worst in the business. Why do so many people kiss his ass? He is the absolute worst.

No passion here. He sounds completely bored. This play sealed our SB and 50 year struggle and he barely says anything.

Well he wasn't happy that the chiefs won. And you're right, it was a less enthusiastic call than tessitore gives for a 1st down 3 yard run in a first quarter pre season game

But in his defense after Williams was in, he was letting chiefs fans enjoy the sounds without talking. They did that right at least.

Aikman was especially wanting the Niners to win that game so they weren't thrilled.

Aikman and Buck were biased all night. Troy did not miss a chance to rip on Mahomes and then said Nothing after the comeback. As expected, these guys were awful.
