Sorry if this is a repost, I couldn't find it anywhere. I believe? this is the Jim Rome show. I think I remember this guy - Kenny Iafrate - calling in after the Royals won it all. Dude should have his own show, he's good.

He nailed it today.

I religiously listened to the Jim Rome show for over a decade, from the mid 90s well into the 2000s and had no idea Iafrate was a Chiefs fan. And yes, he nailed it. Thanks for posting that, it was a blast from the past.

He forgot joe Delaney but otherwise it perfect!

I guess I feel the same. Which is never something I thought I'd say.

I wonder if this is similar to why people who do hard time for a crime they didn't commit usually seem not that mad about it when they get out. It's part of you now - to regret the last X years is to regret yourself.

I also like how he referenced the 3 heartbreaking beatdowns we just put on 3 teams to win this thing. We're doing to other teams what Elway used to do to us. You're left bewildered wondering how in the hell did that just happen?

So, as fans we were wrongly imprisoned for five decades, became judicial experts while incarcerated, finally were released, sought out our wrongful accusers and the crooked DA who put us behind bars, framed them all, and then led the plaintiff's judicial team that put them behind bars for the rest of their lives?

That does seem oddly familiar.

I spent the better part of 2 decades listening to Rome. Tapped out in 2014 due to the interviews becoming so corporate because the athletes were all afraid to say anything that might be construed as edgy. This Iafrate call is a real blast from the past! So spot on it's ridiculous. He absolutely nailed our existence as Chiefs fans.

Anyone over 40-45 will feel this exactly. To be brutally teased for 50 years and to have 3 horrible tragedies on top of it; Derrick Thomas, Joe Delaney and Jovan Belcher it was a like a giant dam burst.......

He missed a few of the horrible moments like the 1971 Christmas Day but overall he nailed it 100%.

Stopped listening about 10 years ago but I remember Iafrate and Silk. Still doing smack down lol. Wonder if Jay Mohr still comes on. What resonated with is how we made ourselves believe good teams were great, especially with those Marty defenses, which were great.

This dude have language to what all of us felt. Brilliant.

Wow! When he said "Kansas City, you can go ahead and hang up. I got this" I thought that is a bold if not arrogant statement. After listening to the entire thing, yes, he definitely got it. :thumb: This guy gets us.

Cubs fans went through some crap
Eagles fans went through some crap
Blues fans went through some crap
Hell, even Royals fans went through 3 decades of crap.

I have respect for those fanbases, as they had to experience excruciating pain to truly appreciate the top of the mountain.

Now, teams like the St Louis Rams, where - BOOM - we built a stadium, brought back a team, and next thing you know, they're champs......nope, sorry. You won't feel the same high as us.

I could list plenty other franchises as well, but you get the point.

A buddy of mine from Brentwood went back to the Lou over Christmas and told me he was SHOCKED at how much St. Louis had already adopted the Chiefs. Mahomes effect probably.

That was amazing. KC has been through a lot of torture. Rome is a huge Mahomes fan too. Nice to see.
