How has your life changed since the Chiefs won the Super Bowl?

Poll coming in 6:15. Or you can write in an answer below.

F150 02-07-2020 11:55 PM

I stay up till damn near 1AM watching YouTube video replays every damn night. I need reaffirmation its real.

suzzer99 02-07-2020 11:55 PM

Has anyone else noticed you're being extra nice/funny to anyone you interact with? It's like all the usual neuroses are taking a break for a while. Somebody starts to bother me in a situation where I would usually get annoyed and go down some road, and I'm like nahhhhhh.

I wonder what life is like in KC right now. Is everyone just constantly smiling at each other everywhere?

Same. I might need an intervention at some point.

This

Azide22 02-08-2020 02:10 AM

My Chiefs friend and I have had hours of talk, way into the night to discuss every play of the Super Bowl, and then go on and on and on about all Chiefs minutiae. Then we watch every show made about SB54.

Oh, and I decided to stop lurking on this site and join the brotherhood. I'm ashamed of my cowardice and bandwagoning (only in this forum- I'm not a recent Chief convert by any means)

ROFL - the ol' stop at the hat rack on the way out the door is DEAD EASY.

Used to be 'where'm I goin'? . . . Jayhawks? Chiefs? Neutral? Nike? Blues? . . . God forbid run a comb through this mess?

Now it's walk by and YOINK, brightest red Chiefs cap with nary a thought.

New World Order 02-08-2020 02:37 AM

I want the second one worse than the first.

Every night and I’m up at 5 am to watch more in case I might have missed something overnight. This could go on for weeks.

TwistedChief 02-08-2020 06:19 AM

I dated a girl in college for a brief period before transferring schools. We ended up splitting up shortly thereafter as the distance didn't work and cut of all contact. For whatever reason, it bothered me for years afterward. And six years later, we finally reconnected and went out for dinner. And I remember being so on edge on the way to meet her. And when the innocuous dinner was over, I was at deep peace because I finally had...closure.

It's the same thing with the Chiefs right now. My wife is due in 3 weeks and I'm so happy I have this closure right before my life takes this big jump forward. Now, I really don't care so much about my own life's happiness with sports because last Sunday was the absolute pinnacle for me. And my only sports goal going forward is that my unborn son can experience what I just did.

I feel like I mentally just took a huge leap forward in my life, and that's not an exaggeration or some feeling that's ephemeral. I'm more complete as a person.

KurtCobain 02-08-2020 06:21 AM

My dick seems to have grown several inches.

stonedstooge 02-08-2020 06:23 AM

I can die in peace now that my Royals and Chiefs have repeated their ultimate quests as they did when I was a kid and young man

I told my 1yr old and 4 yr old, you have no idea how lucky you are to have just witnessed that. Although neither one really knew what just happened. Haha

Naptown Chief 02-08-2020 07:14 AM

You left out the "my 12" cock hasn't had 5 minutes to itself because of all the 20 year old hotties throwing themselves at me" option.

I am disappoint..

A million times THIS! Congrats on being a Dad! Fortunately for the newly born Chiefs fan, he should be able to witness and have a good solid memory of the Chiefs winning at least 1 Super Bowl by the time he graduates grade school Because Mahomes. (I’m really being modest - he’s going to have a good solid memory of Chiefs winning a lot more than 1 Super Bowl)

AJKCFAN 02-08-2020 07:46 AM

Definitely the takeaway from the Chiefs winning the Super Bowl will be no longer watching Chiefs games completely on edge. Don’t get me wrong. This is a potential Dynasty we have before us and there should be/better be (barring injury or tragedy) quite a few more Super Bowl victories for the Chiefs in the next 10+ years as Mahomes builds his case as being the best football player ever. Nevertheless, I’m going to be at peace as a fan. If ever they come up short in the future and don’t win, I will have this past year to comfort me and it will be plenty.

Sure beats the alternative of never being alive to see the Chiefs ever winning a single Super Bowl that’s for damn sure...

493rd 02-08-2020 07:54 AM

I know now that the Because Chiefs bullshit we used to swear by is a thing of the past and gone forever. We have Patrick Mahomes and anything is possible...BECAUSE CHIEFS

Yep. One at a time.

I am done celebrating this one, it’s all about next season.

Beef Supreme 02-08-2020 08:12 AM

All of the above.

Wallcrawler 02-08-2020 08:18 AM

For the first time in 27 years, I will simply be able to watch football on Sundays without worrying about what each game could mean/cost down the road.

No more 3 day funk should they lose.

I'll finally be able to just enjoy the games for the spectacle they are, instead of scrutinizing every single play and listening/contributing to a narrative about will Andy ever get it done.

Hoover 02-08-2020 08:41 AM

I seriously didn't do shit at the office last week. Basically watched sports show all week, and felt with some of the Iowa Caucus BS.

BigRedChief 02-08-2020 08:42 AM

My son reminded me this week that I made him promise that if I didn't make it to see the Chiefs in the Super Bowl, he had to cheer in my place for them with as much passion and excitement as I would have. I told him he's off the hook now.

Maybe others think that's stupid to care so much about a football team. **** them, a life event for me definitely occurred this week.

007 02-08-2020 08:53 AM

Not one bit. I'm happy they won, but nothing really changed for me in my day to day like I was hoping it would. Just too many things to work out right now.

DJay23 02-08-2020 09:09 AM

Living as I do out of the region, and given that I make it very clear where my allegiance lies, I have gained some measure of celebrity in the last week. People I haven't seen or spoken to in years who know I'm a Chiefs fan have contacted me congratulating me and hoping that their team can be as exciting and fun to watch as mine. I think it's fun and almost tongue in cheek to accept congratulations for this thing I had no direct hand in accomplishing. It's almost as fun watching all of the salty Steelers fans try to avoid congratulating me.

On a personal level, when any of my teams do well I very rarely "enjoy the ride" until afterward. When I was a kid I would get nervous or scared of losing
and less excited at the prospect of a win. As I've gotten older and learned more about how football actually works, I find my mind occupied more on the specific match ups that could control the outcome of the game. I don't really get nervous until the morning of the game. But I do spend way too much time thinking about it in an analytical way.

Since the game the past Sunday I feel at peace with sports. Like most have said, I've watched every highlight a hundred times, every talk show that covered the game and parade.

I'm excited for the future of the Chiefs and of course want to win the next one and the next one and on and on and I think we have a reasonable chance to add more than just LIV. My best friend is an Eagles fan and he was more devastated after they lost in the playoffs to the Saints in the divisional round following their Super Bowl than he had been for any pre Super Bowl LII playoff loss. He really thought they would do it again. I hope that I can be more at peace with losses because they will most likely happen more often than the wins. I think having seen my 3 favorite teams win their championship in the last 12 years will help with that. (By the way KU fans, how about the Chiefs and Royals have both now won titles since the last KU championship? It's about time for another!)

stevieray 02-08-2020 09:26 AM

I feel a sense of accomplishment, as odd as that sounds.

That said, still trying to process it all.

jerryaldini 02-08-2020 09:48 AM

Sorry to get all philosophical but I think we've all experienced the suffering that comes when we strive with potential negative outcomes in mind. Our thoughts determine the quality of our experience. Entire football seasons have been spent striving. Letting go of that striving will make a real difference in the lives of passionate Chiefs fans. They will be more content with things being as they are, which is key to mitigating suffering, especially when we lack the ability to change those things. The Stoics called it ataraxia, the Buddhists Shanti.

I would chastise myself for allowing football to disturb my peace. Now I'm experiencing some serious levels of ataraxia! We might even see CP becoming a less stressed out place.

TomBarndtsTwin 02-08-2020 09:51 AM

I’m poorer.

Hahaha, which PB calls Asterisk. Forgot to mention, Rain Man, hilarious options! My favorites

Fans of other teams lower their heads and show deference to me.
