yeah brother - he's like a George Michael that likes women - NTTAWW liking men (if that's your religion) - but yeah he was a great pop star. I'm not sure CP fully understands that - I wanted to bring it up!

He went "doctor, doctor - gimme the news!"

Doctor said he had a bad case of loving her, and he was in danger of heart failure, and that's what happens...when you're addicted to love.

tooge 02-08-2020 09:10 PM

He was nice it seemed

Delano 02-08-2020 09:14 PM

I wanted more than anything for Robert Palmer and Ziggy Marley to produce a pure reggae album but alas..

Got it. In my day it was Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir in the back seat of the Eldorado.

that's fine brother, I'm not one bit mad at that - but Robert was one hell of a pop artist. Constantly surrounded by hot ladies. His tracks weren't annoying, def not classic rock or Heavy Metal (by no means) - but sat on the palate just fine, by most.

CarlosCarson27 02-09-2020 01:10 AM

Oh, I Was thinking Robert Plant.
Sure he was ok. Part of the 80s and all.
But he was as short as Prince and a second hand poor man's Bryan Ferry. The true seducer

"Robert, What do you want to do for your next video?"

"Can we get a 50 models and a mic stand?"

Rinse. Repeat. Success.

lcarus 02-09-2020 08:28 AM

I'm trying to listen to the new Robert Palmer tape, but Evelyn, my supposed fiance, keeps buzzing in my ear.

Nobody was cooler than Palmer in those classic 80s videos. Nobody.

Here's a couple of deeper (and funkier) cuts-

Here he is backed by Lowell George and The Meters:

And here he is doing a reggae version of Randy Travis' hit "On the Other Hand":

Mennonite 02-09-2020 12:42 PM

Mr. Palmer may no longer be here to help you score with chicks from Norfolk, but Weird Al is still here to get you some of that sweet Boise Idaho pussy:

I bought Robert Palmer's first album back in 1974 at Tiger Records. I was attracted to the album because Lowell George of Little Feat produced and played guitar on many tracks. Also the legendary band The Meters backed up on the album which influenced the New Orleans jazz funk fusion sound. If you havent heard the Meters look them up on you tube the are great with Art Neville and awesome drummer Zigaboo Modeliste. My favorite song of Palmers was the Allen Toussaint penned Sneakin Sally through the Alley a great album by the way.
