I think it’s appropriate for him. Hopefully Saunders continues to develop and alleviates the need for him beyond 2020.

The DL is well above average even if we trade Jones now.

Don’t lose sight of this:

The last time the Chiefs lost a game was against the Titans where for some reason Steve Spagnuolo chose to make Mike Pennel a healthy scratch. After a miserable run defense performance, Pennel was inserted back into the lineup, and the Chiefs never lost another game.

Great news. The one year deal works for us because we’ll have more money next year or we possibly find his replacement and there’s a chance at a compensatory pick. I like Pennel on the team another year. Veach is getting it done, slowly but surely.

They wanted that other DT (Ivey iirc) to play because of his pass rush potential in a game against a mostly running attack.
