Dreams, yo.

Here are a few thoughts I have on dreams.

Dreams are weird mother****ers.

I think when someone tells you a dream they make up over half of the dream they are telling you. Whenever I awaken with a vivid dream fresh in my head I only can remember bits and pieces of that dream, but when another person or my baby mama (please ****ing shoot me) tells me about a dream the amount of detail is exponentially higher than what I've ever remembered. Has anyone else noticed this?

My last thing, does anyone have dreams from your childhood that you can still remember even today or have something you remember when you were a kid and can't remember if it was a dream or if it happened?

I have 1 dream that sticks out from when I was pretty young <10. I was walking down a road with trees on both sides swaying and one grabbed me, the next thing I could remember was all my family there with missing limbs and a tree holding a chainsaw and telling me that he was cutting my legs off.

BWillie 05-19-2020 02:13 PM

My dreams are rarely vivid, and I can only remember them for a few minutes.

KCUnited 05-19-2020 02:14 PM

I typically never remember any of my dreams. If I do, it's just fragments for a few minutes after I wake up then they're gone. Until recently...

I was occasionally taking Melatonin that my wife gets from Trader Joes, like for years. Seemed to work okay as I don't really have a problem sleeping. After we ran out she got new ones from some all natural grocer that delivers and holy shit my dreams have been vivid and wild AF. Like I can remember the whole thing like it really happened. Sleep can be some weird shit.

Easy 6 05-19-2020 02:17 PM

I vividly recall my first and only wet dream, Britney Spears had just hit the scene and yeah...

What’s weird to me is that as much as my thoughts constantly revolve around sex, that was the only nocturnal emission I’ve ever had

Ubeja Vontell 05-19-2020 02:18 PM

This happens all the time....

I saw a movie ATOR about 30 years ago, haven't seen it since, so I have this ATOR dream. A few nights later I'm looking for movies on that Fire Stick, and what do I come across....ATOR

Had a dream about a cousin of mine named Gary, hadn't talked to him in about five years (Niner fan) so a few days later the phone rings.....guess who?

Had a dream about Robert Johnson (blues icon) a few days later was my birthday, my son Mason had a gift.....a painting an artist buddy of his did of Robert Johnson.

And it goes on and on....

That means you have strong desires for your mom/Sigmund Freud

I regularly have dreams that I'm in the Navy still.
i'm on the ship, or at my squadron on the NAS, and I'm "me" now circa 2020 in the dream. a little fat, longer hair, facial hair etc. and I'm walking around, panicked because I can't find my uniforms, and can't remember the way to the barbershop on the carrier. Worried my Division Officer or some other superior is going to spot me and send me to the CO.

Then, almost everytime, at some point in the dream I realize "wait a minute...I can go home any time now. I'm done / fulfilled my obligation". as if, my service obligation came and went, and I just 'forgot' / didn't realize it, and simply hung around the last 20 years.

LMAO

such a weird dream; starts in confusion, then full on panic (uniforms, longer hair etc), the sense of elation/relief that I'm not "in" anymore and I can just leave.

weird.

I can relate. I`m a retired firefighter and I still have dreams of getting called for a working structure fire and I can`t find my gear. Total panic time

Salma Hayek usually appears in my dreams and I always wake up with sticky stuff down there. Is that weird???

My dreams have been more vivid for the last 2-3 years. Not every night, but 3-4 nights a week. Don't remember much about them other than a feeling when I wake up.

I have taken Chantix to help stop chewing. Multiple times. It works, but I always get stupid and start again. But one of the side affects - for me at least - is I have extremely weird vivid dreams.

I do remember one dream from when I was little. More of a nightmare - but I had it at least 1 time a week when I was 6/7 years old.

Just last night I was dreaming something bad and was trying to wake myself up. And I did.

Weird seeing this thread as last night was the first dream I have had in quite a long time. Like years.

BWillie 05-19-2020 02:53 PM

One thing cool about when I used to take Modafinil was I would have some crazy, ****ed up vivid dreams. I'd say that is more enjoyable than not having them.

Ancient Persian mystics always said fire dreams were a sure sign of your impending death... but they only said it in my dreams, so who knows?

Same here. I know that I dream but I almost never remember them for more than a minute. If I do remember it it’s only a short snippet of the dream. The only dream I can remember fairly recently was when I was walking around a neighborhood and I decided to go into someone’s backyard to go swimming. When I got to the pool, Bill Cosby was giving a commencement speech to a bunch of high school graduates. Some were standing in the pool and others were standing around it. I went swimming in the deep end while Bill gave his speech and when I was done, I climbed out of pool and left.

You feel a kindred spirit in Bill, and you were in the deep end over your own guilt for roofying and raping unsuspecting women/armchair psychologist :)

Why Not? 05-19-2020 03:57 PM

I almost never remember my dreams. A few months ago, in my dream, I was on a speed boat hauling ass across the ocean and my 11 year old was on a different speed boat as a passenger. At some point I looked over right as he stuck his head in the water and had it bitten off by a shark. I immediately woke up laughing because it was so ridiculous of a scenario, even in my sleep I couldn’t be scared or weirded out by it. I told him about it the next morning. He shrugged and asked for a pancake. That is all.

I think lucid dreaming refers more to when you're in a dream state, and you realize that you're dreaming. You can then take control of your dream instead of feeling like you're watching it play out. I've had a bunch of these myself. In one that I can remember, I told myself I could fly, and started flying around.

Demonpenz 05-19-2020 04:02 PM

I had a dream I finished second in a Golf Major behind Tiger Woods. It took me awhile like an hour or two to shake off the idea that it happened. I also had a dream that I bought a honda s2000 and I forgot I bought it and it was getting repo'd I was pretty scared when I woke up. I have dreams every week about playing football and baseball.

Demonpenz 05-19-2020 04:05 PM

I had dream I came out of the stands at Allen field house to block a Kentucky dunk and Calipari had me banned for life. That one was satisfying.

Well, I can’t remember for sure, but it seems like I may have been swimming naked as well. I really wish I could have dreams about sleeping with Britney Spears, but instead it’s always some silly crap like this or I’m rebuilding a lawnmower engine with some kid I haven’t seen since kindergarten.

Hog's Gone Fishin 05-19-2020 05:09 PM

I had a very vivid dream 3 nights ago that a 747 airplane crashed into my hog farm, it nosedived and turned sideways. Upon impact it didn't explode like normal but all the fuel was on the ground and marching toward me. The fuel started pouring into one of the hog houses and then a worker went over to the house and entered it and turned on the light switch and it exploded.

I have regular nightmares about my hog farming life.

Today I went fishing just to help with my therapy.

A few years back i was constantly turning from stomach to back and wife would ask whats wrong. In my semi-sleep I would tell her I didnt want to overcook and get burnt. I was dreaming I was on a rotisserie. At the time, I was getting daily radiation to my head/neck for throat cancer and these cooking dreams stopped when my radiation treatments stopped. Weird

I had a dream a month or so ago in which my cat hopped on the chair beside me, and did a big normal cat yawn. Except then his head just kept opening up like a Pacman death scene until his head was inside out and he was twitching and dripping all nasty like. It was very clear and graphic in my dream, and I immediately woke up with my heart racing. Don't normally have that disturbing of dreams...

On occasion, I have some pretty vivid dreams. But details fade within moments.
To the point I've sometimes wondered whether, when you're talking about genius level creative people, they might have something that lets them recall their dreams just a little bit longer than others.
It hasn't happened often, and as I said the details regressed so quickly that I can't assess the merit of it, but I remember dreaming something where I knew I was dreaming, but I was also thinking 'if I can remember this, it would be an epic story.'
Other times, I've known I was dreaming something that I realized was important [a problem I was dealing with, or an emotion that was roiling me IRL] and woke with a drive to remember so I could learn something from whatever my unconscious was processing. But it invariably fails to survive so much as getting out of bed, let alone time to get up, get some coffee and think it over soberly.
Ironically, the broad strokes of last night's dream actually stuck with me, although the details reliably fell away. But even now I recall that as I going along I thought was triaging all these emergency injuries for some big tragedy, but somewhere along the line in my dream it occurred to me that I was actually only doing tons and tons of sutures. And I went into a funk, even still in the dream, that even though I was objectively 'helping' I was only doing things any idiot could do. So I trudged along from patient to patient, closing up cuts with a little needle and thread. Make of that what you will. . . .

Have you considered revisiting this dream in real life. Say, going to the top of a very large building and hurling yourself off it?

I'm positive Superman will suddenly appear. Do report back.

Make of that what you will. . . .

The ****, dude?
