Call your shot: Chris Jones Contract
Call your shot
What happens with Chris Jones? |
Deal before the 15th. I may be wrong, but I trust in Veach. The guy has done very little wrong as our GM to this point.

Call your shot: Chris Jones Contract

No deal.
Jones holds out. |

They'll make a deal at the last minute.
|
It seems really unlikely but something inside tells me they will reach a deal. It probably won't happen but I'm hitting that box anyways.
|
Get picks.
Draft capitol for younger cheaper talent and cap space/flexibility will help this team over the next few years. |

Deal, but Veach knows better than we do that we have some serious deals coming up, so I hope this is a very creative one like PMII's.

Posted this in the other thread, it’s happening y’all.

Yes. It’s written all over Mahomes contract.
Look at the cap hits for Buckner’s deal. Really not that bad if we can backloads this thing: 2020-23.378 2021-17 2022-16 2023-19.75 2024-20.25 If Veach can maneuver a little more and have Chris Jones biggest cap hit this year with Mahomes making only $5.36 million it will make this deal look like highway robbery. Imagine Chris Jones at similar cap hits to Buckners from 2021-2024? Damn |
I vote : Chiefs & Jones reach a deal before the July 15 deadlinehttps://alreskha.xyz/assets/2/o.png
|
If Jones signs a new deal with the Chiefs, I'd expect it to be in the $105-$110 million dollar range in total value, probably something like $63-65 million guaranteed, with the bulk of the payments coming in 2021-2023.
Jones is a such a beast, which was re-affirmed after watching the AFC Championship and Super Bowl late last night. What he brings to the defense isn't easily replaceable and I think that once he gets paid, he'll turn it up another notch because he won't be concerned about an injury ruining his chances at a defining second contract. |

Bort Velch GOAT GM
|
Well, I voted No Deal. Plays on the franchise tag. I hope we get a deal done though. I want this team all happy and stuff.
|
I voted before seeing his tweets. DAMN IT! Just doesn't seem possible with all the big contracts, plus knowing the overall strategy going forward has got to be more towards accumulating draft picks. But maybe they have one last big contract to go all-in the next two years. Would be pretty great to have Jones.
|
He said he's not playing on the tag, so I think SOMETHING gets done by July 15th. Either a trade or a deal.
Probably a deal, given how the Mahomes deal is laid out. |
If Veach gets this deal done when do we start talking about Veach as one of the greatest GMs of all time??

other (explained in comments): Gaz

Im guessing he gets a 5 yr/$110 mil contract ith $50 mil guaranteed. Cap hit will be >$10 mil to give us some flexibility to go out and sign someone.
|
I'll guess Veach is trying to iron out a lower year 1 - I'll give a wild guess of 5/103 with 40 guaranteed
13-21-23-23-25 Base 1 million - Signing Bonus 2 million - Roster Bonus 10 million - Guaranteed 21 million Base 8 million - Signing bonus 2 million - Roster Bonus 11 million - Guaranteed 19 million Base 21 million - Signing bonus 2 million Base 21 million - Signing bonus 2 million Base 23 million - Signing bonus 2 million |
6 Years 106 Million 45 Million guaranteed
Incentives for Defensive Player of the Year AFC Championship wins SB wins |
5 years 250 Million.
Half of Pat. LOL |
Jones has almost identical numbers to Buckner except Buckner has almost 100 more tackles than Jones
|
Howdy Doody Doo, Planeteers ...
Ironically, I've been watching some Frank Clark interviews today. Would someone be so kind as to educate me on the details of Frank's contract? You know ... as a comparison sort of deal. I think he signed for 105MM, but I don't know the guarantee or the years. (And I'm not entirely certain about the 105.) TIA FAX THE FORGETFUL |

I can’t see the Chiefs wanting a distraction. Deal gets done.

It seems to me that is the sort of thing Jones wants ... (I think Jones was a little pissed at the deal they gave Clark.) Depending on the devilish details and the structure, Veachy should be able to make that happen. Something in that ballpark, anyway ... Thanks again, Mr. dlphg9. Appreciated. FAX |
When do we build Veachs statue?
|
In Veach I trust. He'll git er done!

He'll get a slightly better contract than Frank Clark, same years, little better money.
|
Franchise year and Jones holds out until week 10. 3rd round comp pick.
I love Jones as much as anyone, but the numbers just don't work in the next few years. Next year is/was the only one manageable, hence the tag. |
Give him the Bobby Bonilla deal! $5 million guaranteed per year for the next 20 years!
|
Deal by the 15th.
Veach doesn't let a man with the special talent Jones put on display |
I think he plays under the franchise tag this year, hoping to see what 2021 brings. I think he'll realize $16.1M is better than $0.nada.
