Let's talk about the Buccaneers
Notable Offensive Players: Brady, Godwin, Rojo, Gronk, Evans, Wirfs, Brown, Fournette
Notable Defensive Players: Suh, JPP, Barrett, Winfield, Davis, Dean + Tom is a statue, so we need to generate pressure through the middle otherwise he has weapons and can hit them in the mid-ranges, similar to Oakland last night. He's infinitely smarter than Carr, but probably less talented than the version of Carr we saw last night - or at least on par. + TB's receiving talent is right up there with the best in the league. For some reason Evans/Brady have been slightly off, and we'll have to hope that continues. Gronk is a shell of himself, but still a large target that might be difficult for, say, HB, to defend if the ball is placed in the right location. + TB's secondary is young, talented and smart, but prone to youthful mistakes. We should be able to confuse them as the game goes on. + TB's run game can be nasty, and we need to shut them down early. Rojo is no joke. |
I want to taste the tears of Tom Brady's sadness.
I want Chris Jones to devour him. Frank Clark says there is blood in the water. |

How’s Antonio Brown looking?
|
The good news for us is that Todd Bowles does some incredibly stupid stuff. I hope he does those blitzes that start way back from the LOS because Mahomes would light that up.

This could be a huge statement game for our defense if Jones and Wharton get nasty up the middle.
I also expect some exotic blitzes from Spags, although they'll need to get home quickly because Brady gets rid of the ball so fast. |
WE WILL ****ING MURDER TOM BRADY TO DEATH AND HE WILL DIE AND BE DEAD LIKE THE OLD DEAD BITCH HE IS!!!!!

So it's more on Brady getting his timing down with his new WR and not on AB from what I saw. |

I am expecting a big bounce back performance from the defense on Sunday.
They are going to hear all week about their struggles, how they are the supposed weak link in the Chiefs’ quest to repeat and they will show up big on Sunday. |
Gonna need the defense to pull their head out. Tampa has some weapons on offense and if they can't get pressure on Brady, we're gonna need another great one from Mahomes.
Don't need the defense to play great, just do their job and get some stops. |
It's time for them to spread the passing around. The old man needs to be paced

They're another offense that runs through the run game. They look their best when they can run the ball. They don't like that great when they get away from the run.
And their defense has never seen Mahomes, Hill and Kelce before. |
The Chiefs route to domination is the same as it always is:
Score fast, score early, put them in a hole to force them out of the run game and then pin your ears back. Offense has to keep scoring. Chiefs have to play defense with their offense otherwise we're in for another nail biter. |
Love the fact that the Chiefs defense gets a crack to prove themselves against a high powered offense. Also love the Chiefs getting back to back games against above average opponents.
Time to start tuning the engine for playoff mode. |
I’d feel a lot better about this game if Schwartz was healthy and Fisher didn’t twist the knee.
We’re going to need to score a lot and their DL can get pressure without blitzing. |
Excited for this one. We’ll learn a lot about both teams.
If we win this, then anything worse than 14-2 will be EXTREMELY disappointing. I don’t care what the Steelers record is, I have to believe that 14-2 gets the 1 seed (as long as we don’t lose to another AFC opponent). |
Tom Bratty can't move for shit. I have a feeling Jones will single-handedly turn this game in our favor on multiple possessions.
Run D looked good last night, too. It's all on Tom. |

Here’s an interesting stat. The Buccaneers allow opposing QBs to complete 68% of their passes. That’s tied with the Giants and Texans for 6th worst in the league.
|
We could **** around and lose this game really easily.
IF we play the way we did against The Raiders we just might. Jones and Clark are going to have to show up. Also-it's not the end of the world if we lose. The Steelers are actually entering a stretch where they play play-off contenders for 4 of the next 6 games. Ravens, Bills, Colts, Browns. So, we'll see who they really are. |
Their defense is much better than the Raiders so, yeah, the defense needs to step up for us big time.
I’m not sure our D can play any worse than last night, though. |

If anyone sees Chris Jones or Frank Clark let somebody with the Chiefs know.
Because they've been missing for several weeks now. |
In a perfect world, Mahomes evens the score against Tom Sunday and then takes him out in the Super Bowl, restoring the balance lost from 2018.

I think this one is going to be a lot like the Rams game last year. |
Since I became a Chiefs fan in 1993-1994, we have not beaten the Buccaneers. Most memorable was that blown 18 point lead at home in 2008 and Alex Smith's rare pick in the red zone that changed the game in 2016.
If we can get Watkins and Hardman back, this offense become a lot more explosive. No more Robinson mistakes to stall drives. Conversely, the defense will give up lots of yards and points. Shutting down Tampa's offense with this group is likely asking for much. All depends on whether they can make key stops and force a turnover or two. Likely another high scoring game that comes down to who gets the ball last. |

Tom brady will get destroyed. Their offensive line not that good.
|
I have no doubt our offense scores into the 30’s. I have some doubt it’ll be enough to win.
|
Something no one has mentioned yet; Spags is Brady's kryptonite.
So we've got that going for us, which is nice. |
I'm curious to see if Bowles dials back on all the blitzes he calls or if he just sticks to what he's been doing
If he blitzes a lot the Chiefs are going to score a shit ton |
Tom Brady, at his 2020 peak, won’t give us what Derek Carr just did.
That’s crazy to say out loud, but Carr made every play and dropped dimes all game. I suspect we’ll get the exact same treatment from Brady. I’d be shocked if the Bucs don’t drop 30 on us, though. The question is can the offense keep pace against a pretty stingy Bucs defense. And, well, never bet against Mahomes. |
Here’s some interesting facts about the Bucs that correlate with us.
Veach was going to sign a FA that the Bucs ended up signing. He was the fall back if Sammy didn’t work out. That was OL Ryan Jensen. Ali Marpet was a guy we were linked to a lot. He was definitely a prototypical Andy Reid OL. Bucs ended up drafting him before we could get a chance in the 2nd rd. Think many thought he’d go in the 3rd. |
Antonio Brown looked like a beast yesterday

The Bucs have incredible weapons, but they're not the nightmare matchup that the Raiders O is for us because their weapons aren't nearly as speedy. Evans is a strider and will cause some issues in the end zone, as will Gronk, but neither Brown or Godwin are very fast.
Their run game is also kinda meh. They'll stick with it regardless but RoJo and Fourney don't scare me. If we can pressure Brady, we should be able to keep them from grinding out long TD drives. Their defense could cause some problems. They can get pressure with the front 4 and their inside LBs are the best, and fastest, in the league. I highly doubt we'll see any of our backs beating Lavonte David to the edge. Their secondary is very young, though, so if Mahomes has some time we should be able to get a fair amount of chunk plays. I honestly have no clue how this one will play out. If both team's A games show up, I believe we will win, but our defense lately has me a bit concerned. I don't expect that we will be as efficient against this capable defense as we were against Vegas' trash heap so if the guys play that uninspired this coming Sunday, we could be in for another nail biter. |
The DBs need to be on point, though. Brady's gotten very good at throwing up the arm punts that linger in the air for 4 seconds. I've seen far too many DBs shit themselves and commit a huge 50+ yard DPI.
We can't allow any of that easy shit, cause you know the refs will be looking to flag us any chance they get. |

Just a gut feeling. Chiefs 35 Bucs 40 |

This is the second game I've watched TB and find myself not terribly impressed on either side of the ball. This can't be the class of the NFC I'm watching here.

Well, they can't run with us, no ****in' way.
Can their d-line bully our patchwork o-line? Maybe. |
Quote:
I'm not saying they're bad, but they aren't shutting down Goff and company either, and the Rams aren't a terribly explosive offense. And their defense is good, sure, but I haven't watched them and thought, "wow, that's a great defense." Not once. |
Bucs have the #4 ranked defense. They are currently tied with LA that just picked off Brady so that is awesome. I think we win and our next scary game is @ the Saints. If we win those games, AFC Championship Game here we come!
Not too worried about Miami or Chargers after the previous 2 games. #runitback |
Suh on Reiter makes me nervous.
Their D-line is really the only concern. They look slow as **** teamwide. |
The word for this game is passrush. We have to find a way to generate one and we have to slow theirs down.

Both these teams suck

Bucs will be angry and desperate. Not good for us.

They lost to the Saints twice already, essentially losing the division, and they were playing another NFC playoff team. Why were they not already pissed/desperate? |

They're shitty.

No idea why Arenas tries to make Brady push the ball downfield. He cant do it anymore.
|
Can’t believe people have Brady as a top 10 QB right now. He’s garbage this year and well on his way to having more picks than any year in his career.
I would easily take Carr and Goff over this dude. It’s debatable that he’s better than average right now. |
Tom brady is playing shitty, Shipley might be out and their LT is shitty. If there was a game for Frank Clark and Chris Jones to get their shit together for the final stretch, this is it.

If they get any pressure on Brady whatsoever, they'll win in a blowout.
