Matthews buys stake in women's soccer team.

Seems like the Mahomes family is really putting roots in KC.

That's what I was wondering, did she buy a stake or did Patrick buy it for her.

It's a formality until the Duel between him and George Brett happens. But have no fear George will shit himself.

I believe this is from last year:

The OL Groupe, the parent company of Olympique Lyonnais, has agreed to buy the National Women’s Soccer League’s Reign FC, the parties announced on Thursday. Reign FC and the OL Groupe entered into exclusive negotiations for the takeover last month.

The sale is expected to close in January 2020, pending approval by the league’s board of directors.

The OL Groupe, through a newly formed U.S. registered company, will invest $3.125 million and have an 89.5% stake in Reign FC, valuing the club at $3.51 million.

Wow. That's higher than I would have expected, but then again I don't follow women's professional soccer very closely. I wonder what kind of crowds they draw, or if they get a nice TV deal to produce revenue.

DanT 12-07-2020 04:48 PM

I hadn't realized that KC lost their NWSL team. Our first franchise in that league, FC Kansas City, won NWSL championships in 2014 and 2015, the 2nd and 3rd years of that league's existence.

I watched a couple of their games on TV and enjoyed them.

Thought I heard about this back during the summer. Jeez that picture of Brittany on TMZ is terrible. Makes her look like a methhead. :shake:

TMZ doesn't like Pat with her. They **** up her pics all the time to satisfy the simpleton's who think someone is more deserving of Pat than she is. If they had their way, Pat would be dating a ****ing Kardasian.

**** heads is what they are.

The simpleton for whatever reasons is most likely a jealous chick that thinks she is better looking than Brittany. Jeez.

It's truly amazing to think about how dominant our women's soccer team is on the world stage and how utterly irrelevant professional women's soccer is in this country.

I have nothing against it, but no desire to watch it. I don’t even know how it makes any money?

Women’s pro soccer has to be pretty far down the sports mountain in the U.S.

As are all women's sports. The closest thing is the WNBA and that only survives because it's sugar daddy the NBA subsidizes it. I have zero issue with any women's professional sport, but clearly the US has little interest in watching it outside of the Olympics or World Cup.

Now if this team were smart they would wait till Brittany got married and named their field the Brittany Mahomes field. That is easy marketing.

In thinking about it, I bet owning a women's professional soccer team is like buying an inkjet printer. The entry price is really low, but the operating costs are the rub.
