Did last night ruin the offseason for you?

For the first time as a Chiefs fan, I honestly don’t care about free agency or the draft. I’m so ****ing pissed, I honestly want to ignore the NFL for the next few months. No combine or anything only makes that moreso the case.

Maybe I’ll get over it and get excited when we start making moves, but right now I have absolutely no interest in keeping up with everything in the offseason.

smithandrew051 02-08-2021 06:33 PM

No, I still have Kansas Basketball.

Wait...

displacedinMN 02-08-2021 06:33 PM

eDave 02-08-2021 06:33 PM

Just the whiney bitching aftermath.

Nah. I'm interested to see how the team and everyone involved responds. We saw what they did after 2018. Honestly, I wish it were September. Non football season sucks.

Titty Meat 02-08-2021 06:35 PM

No I haven't really enjoyed the off season like I used to for a few years now. It's kind of nice actually and makes waiting for next year not seem as long.

redfan 02-08-2021 06:35 PM

Not at all, the future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades! Looking fwd to the draft then ota then camp!! Yip!!

TribalElder 02-08-2021 06:36 PM

*random flag flies and hits the ground*

Unsportsmanlike conduct, you must watch the NFL at all times to see what the NFL does next for Tom Brady

Deberg_1990 02-08-2021 06:36 PM

No. Britt Reid ruined it for me.

TribalElder 02-08-2021 06:37 PM

The NFL is a huge disappointment

Kinda this.

comochiefsfan 02-08-2021 06:41 PM

No ****ing chance in hell.

We have Patrick Mahomes, still by far the best football player on the planet. And this offseason we're going to go get the man some help.

This loss hurts. It sucks to be humbled. But it's gonna make the revenge tour that much sweeter next season.

Bring on the draft and free agency.

P.S. We're also the AFC Champions and 30 other franchises would kill to have the season we did. I know it's hard to see that now, but it was still a great year.

Hog's Gone Fishin 02-08-2021 06:42 PM

Well, the really bad thing is now all they're talking about is how great Tom Brady is and it's going to last for the next 9 months. I don't dislike Tom but I'm definitely sick of him.

Brady threw for 201
PMII threw for 276

If Brady would have played behind that line what do you think would have happened.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 02-08-2021 06:43 PM

We are gonna need a new RB and OLB coach

It really is man, and it’s by far my favorite form of entertainment. I spend 75% of my free time watching or talking football. Even in the offseason I’m usually watching a ton of tape on prospects in preparation for the NFL draft.

Last night’s first half officiating was so blatantly one-sided that it has made me feel like a ****ing moron for putting so much time and emotion into a joke of a product.

****. The. NFL.

The Franchise 02-08-2021 06:44 PM

It’s a month until the league year starts. I probably won’t give a shit until then. But I need a break after this year.

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 02-08-2021 06:45 PM

We still have the royals!

kc-nd 02-08-2021 06:49 PM

No. Vegas has us #1 for next year.

gold_and_red 02-08-2021 06:51 PM

Hope this loss sparks off a good run in 2021 just like after the AFCCG loss.

Easy 6 02-08-2021 06:53 PM

Nah, just last night and part of this morning... there is a LOT of work to do here, and I'm excited to see how they attack it

Rain Man 02-08-2021 06:58 PM

I'll avoid NFL shows for the next eight months so I don't have to listen to show after show after show after show talking about how amazing it was that Brady produced 201 yards of passing offense with another 120 yards in penalties whenever he needed them. I'll start paying attention again in training camp.

Cosmos 02-08-2021 06:59 PM

Looking forward to the draft and FA to rebuild the team for another run.

Hoping Veatch finds a couple of vets who will sacrifice for a run for a championship....looking at the OL/WR.

KC_Connection 02-08-2021 07:00 PM

I'm not watching anything NFL related until the draft.

kcpasco 02-08-2021 07:01 PM

That Pittsburgh Seattle Super Bowl was also blatantly one sided officiating. All so Bettis and Cowher could ride off with a trophy. Games are definitely influenced.

Bugeater 02-08-2021 07:07 PM

Never had a good feeling about the game. I'm already over it.

kcjayhawks5 02-08-2021 07:08 PM

I mean last night was brutal but no. We just made back to back super bowls. It ****ing sucks we lost last night but bring on the offseason and here’s to signing some dudes to help us out on the line.

In58men 02-08-2021 07:10 PM

Brady lost to Eli twice and Nick Foles.

We lost to Brady, I’m excited about this off-season. We’ll definitely be back.

MahomesMagic 02-08-2021 07:11 PM

No, this team has so many pieces in place.

One great off-season and we're going to terrorize the NFL.

bigjosh 02-08-2021 07:12 PM

I cant wait to see what patrick looks like after an entire offseason of folks on tv talking shit.

That being said, im not paying attention to anything until free agency opens up.

Man, I was ping ponging between a pretty solid win and a total cluster****. It was skitzoid, man. Got the latter part of that shit. It was both a disaster and a tragedy.

But hell, I never thought I'd ever be in position to be mad about losing a Super Bowl.

New World Order 02-08-2021 07:19 PM

We have to look on the bright side here. We have a young quarterback who has played 3 seasons. We have experienced 3 conference championship games (all hosted at home), back-to-back super bowls with 1 SB win

That's a hell of a span. Regroup, get the line structured and we can go back and give it another shot.

Same. The OL being what it was I knew we were in for an absolute dogfight at best, although I didn't expect quite that level of ineptitude from them.

The offensive skill position players get an emphatic "**** you" as well, especially Watkins and Hardman. Watkins would have been just as impactful sitting on the bench like he has been and Hardman had a dud for the ages. Even Hill and Kelce let Mahomes down at times but they still at least fought back and tried. CEH was the only one who doesn't deserve shit and Reid panicked and abandoned him.

We'll be back sooner rather than later. Mahomes is young plenty of time to get another ring for him.

RunKC 02-08-2021 07:35 PM

Last night made me realize how much I need to cherish the 2019 SB.

We played bad but the reason we lost was because we had injuries which are completely out of control.

We’ll be back and we’ll win another ring soon. I’m sure of it

siberian khatru 02-08-2021 07:36 PM

I’ve been at peace with it since the start of the 4th quarter.

I’m also looking forward to the offseason, having my weekends be stress-free again. Need a break.

Gary Cooper 02-08-2021 07:38 PM

Losing a close game would be more devastating. Always five or six plays you wish went differently that could have affected the outcome. Eats you up for the longest time. When it's a blowout, there isn't any play or two that changed the outcome.

This loss is sucks and is embarrassing but I think getting blown out makes it easier to get over.

BlackOp 02-08-2021 07:41 PM

The game was so terrible that I didn't even watch past the middle of third quarter..and this is a team Ive followed for over 40 years...finally in the SB.

Brady only had to pass for 28 yards for the TD before half...the other 42 were provided by 2 PI calls. Set up nicely at the one. Both PIs were bogus...the NFL just handed him a TD and 42 yards out of thin air.

ChiefsCountry 02-08-2021 07:44 PM

I've kind of been in a depressed mood today. Been along time after a Chiefs game that has happened. Shitty weather today also a big factor in this.

Vox Romantic 02-08-2021 07:44 PM

I Never felt good about this game because of the o-line situation, but I still thought Pat would figure some way to get a win! I had know Idea it could be THAT bad....... But I was late to hear the Britt news and now think that was a much bigger thing than I first imagined. You can tell how much Andy loves people and that had to CRUSH him!!!
I thought as the game went on that the whole affair had knock the plans asunder and Andy’s nor the team was right before the game even started.
Add in the home field advantage and the screwy COVID schedule, it should have been obvious to me but it wasn’t till the third quarter......

Bowser 02-08-2021 07:50 PM

I've been a fan since Elway scored 14 on us in two minutes in Denver to win 20-19 in 1990. Think about all the ineptitude that took place with the Chiefs in spite of having championship caliber rosters since then. Hell no I'm not turned off to what this offseason brings. We're living in the freaking golden age of Chiefs football right now, drink it in.

scho63 02-08-2021 07:53 PM

I don't remember once losing it last night during the game. I cursed once or twice at some of screwups and screw overs we did or received but it felt like a slow motion trainwreck from nearly the beginning to end.

I can't remember one time feeling confident we would win. I was very optimistic but most of that relied on unrealistic expectations.

When I saw all the drops, the penalties, the horrid line play, and then the final straw was our punter shanking 25 yard kicks off the side of his foot. I knew we were having no good juju.

****. The. NFL.

I'm the same way. I spend a shitload of time looking at football related content. I watch the shows and read all the news sites. This past year has been really enjoyable since we were the champs. After getting completely hosed by the NFL officials in the first half I remembered that it's not a game it's a performance art. Lots of news folks mentioned "We will be back next year". That might be true but the NFL will likely just **** us over again. Very hard to imagine any other scenario. really disappointed in the NFL

VAGOMO 4 LIFE! 02-08-2021 07:55 PM

I want to believe I really do, but last night taught me that you can't win a rigged game no matter who you are

EPodolak 02-08-2021 07:58 PM

It's going to sting awhile, feel like some crime is going unpunished and the perps are untouchable. Just a crummy feeling. It's good for us we're blessed with the ability to look ahead.

Rasputin 02-08-2021 07:58 PM

I'm still happy about last years Super Bowl win to let anything ruin my life.

YontsRBake 02-08-2021 08:02 PM

No, I'm significantly more interested than I would have been had we won.

Curious to see how Veach manages our cap and how we upgrade our interior OL.

If Veach handles this well and were able to get a vet in the interior (Alex Mack would be great imo) and have a guard like the one from USC fall to us, along with Schwartz and Fisher come back healthy and stay healthy, I think we'd have to be the heavy favorites next year.

We’re already the heavy favorites to win next year according to CBS Sports and Vegas

InChiefsHeaven 02-08-2021 08:29 PM

As for me, it was weird going into a game that confident, nay even cocky, which I have not been with this team in a long time, probably since the AFCCG against Fivehead. It was a surreal and humbling experience. But, my buddy who came over to watch and I just sat on the couch, and after the opening drive of the 3rd that resulted in a FG, I looked over at him and said "Wow dude. We're gonna lose. And lose big." Just matter of factly. It is what it is.

I woke up at like 2:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. Just laid there and went over the game. I was never mad. Just really disapointed. It's not losing. It's losing like THAT to HIM. But again, we've hosted and played in 3 consecutive AFCCGs...won 2 and went to 2 SB's and won 1...in three years. That's so much success it's almost obscene.

Everyone wishes they were us. Except the Bucs, for now. We'll retool, we'll refocus, and we'll be back. I truly feel that.

But, I'm looking forward to the break, as I'm sure the team is.

Re-engage at the draft.

PAChiefsGuy 02-08-2021 08:31 PM

Definitely did. I won't be watching ESPN or paying attention to anything football related for a while. I'll post on here and bs w friends but that is about it.

jerryaldini 02-08-2021 08:39 PM

I liked hearing Mahomes talk today about growing from it. Andy looked bad today, has to be struggling badly. I'm pumped about CEH last night and excited about him becoming a big part of the offense next year. Andy got too out of balance this year.

UChieffyBugger 02-08-2021 08:44 PM

I've not watched a single nfl talking head today...just been listening to chiefs podcasts and checking this forum and chiefs twitter. Last night was hell and I've bought myself some junk food to drown my sorrows...but as time has passed that nagging feeling is fading and I'm ready to see how Veach, Andy and Pat respond. The bucs are basking in glory today but what future do they have? Being able to draft high and having folks like Brady, Gronk, AB and Fournette come in for peanuts is not gonna happen moving forward.

Buehler445 02-08-2021 08:50 PM

RE: OT

Nah. Felt worse after the Indy debacle. After that game I thought we legitimately wouldn't win one in my lifetime.

Reffing was ridiculous but it's not like there haven't been similar reffing outings. If we'd have just got blown out, whatever, we finally found the breaking point for OL trouble: Both tackles being traffic cones. I ****ing hate bullshit reffing. But again, not new.

Coochie liquor 02-08-2021 08:53 PM

Losing ****ing sucks, but we’ve just been to 2 straight SB’s and we’re 1-1 in them. I’m extremely bummed about the whole Britt thing but I’m dealing with it as best as I can. The future is still bright, even through the current situation is heartbreaking. Been a while since we’ve lost an important game, and even longer since we’ve lost one like this. The team will learn from this and believe Patrick will learn from this and make adjustments in his game as well (even though he balled out given the circumstances IMO). Could barely sleep last night, and I can’t imagine who it was for our team having to deal with a beat down like that on top of the Britt incident. But the team will move in. I’m hoping that little girls life does as well her moms too.

TwistedChief 02-08-2021 08:55 PM

rewatched the first half today... Lot of actual holding and illegal contact on our wideouts that went uncalled, based on what was being called on our Dbacks. This changed the game as well with a porous Oline.

Yeah, it was too much. I honestly mentioned to my son tonight, I'm not sure they didn't keep Remmers on the right side (where he did ok) and roll protection that way. Don't know if that would have changed anything but we were piecemeal to say the least. I do love the foosball fans who suggest we devote hell a cash and draft picks to the o-line. We had a sb winning last year under contract. 2 were hurt. 1 was a doctor who went to a higher calling. We had good play sporadically but the truth is, the thing that blessed us early last year (multiple injuries, backups getting time and us getting healthy/hot at the end) is the same thing that killed us this year.

we got hurt late, they got healthy late.

I'm excited too. If we somehow won last night that may have masked the fact that our OL needs to be a priority or Mahomes is going to get Carson Wentz'd next year and we would struggle. I think we will be in a better position because of the loss. Still sucks though.

-King- 02-08-2021 09:27 PM

Not really. They just beat the shit out of us and the refs got a few licks in for good measure. By the end of the first half my optimism was pretty much gone so by the time the game ended I had pretty much processed the loss. It's not like 2018 where I just felt broken. There we had the victory and had it snatched away from us. At no point yesterday did I think we had the victory or deserved victory.

Sure-Oz 02-08-2021 09:35 PM

No I'm ready for this team to get back. Definitely a great season but awful end. They are better than this but this will set them up for a run next season and beyond. They got socked in the mouth. Can't let they happen again.

This loss blows goats, but in the last few years I've found the less I pay attention to all the little details the more I enjoy the Chiefs games and team moves. The NFL has ruined my desire to devote a lot of time into following all the details and it has led to me filtering out most of the clutter and settling back into just enjoying the Chiefs again.

The Royals won the World Series, the Chiefs won the Superbowl, and we get to watch a guy who can bounce a football of a facemark while flying horizontally for years to come. Life is still good.

In Veach I trust.

I’m more pumped for it, probably a coping mechanism leftover from the pre-Mahomes days. Last year I didn’t give a shit because the Super Bowl high was so good. This time there is a revenge tour to enjoy and it starts by getting this offseason right.

Should be an intriguing with the salary cap question, needing to make improvements, and some new coaches. I think there will be some surprising moves along the way.

I’m interested in seeing how it’ll all fit together.

That pic makes me so sad. How the **** did they waste Mahomes doing literally everything a human can possibly do to keep the team afloat.

With all the holding Tampa was getting away with we needed to make adjustments. Probably start doing max protects. No point in sending all wrs out if they were getting held anyway.

What ruined it for me is the combination of one sided officiating and just how bad our plan was and those timeouts. I still can’t get over those. If not for those I believe we could have won and gotten to say we are so much better that even with gifted points we still beat them.
