Mahomes to undergo surgery - Rapoport
Source: #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes will undergo surgery tomorrow to repair a torn plantar plate in his foot, also known as turf toe. The rehab will be several months, but he’s expected to make a full recovery. Noted foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson will perform the procedure.

All we have to do is assemble the best front four in the league! Then we just need his entire offensive line to be injured so he's playing with practice squad players! It was a heck of a run but Mahomes is history!!" |

In his post game presser, you could see he had some baggy eyes and just looked really tired. I'm sure the pain from the foot and the week of Super Bowl BS and interviews and Covid and Britt Reid and his wife being major preggo all weighed on him. Hope he comes back fully healthy, a new daddy and ready to do this again.

Deal is there are many things that go under the turf toe umbrella, so it's treated differently... Mine also involved a tear in the plantar plate, located at the ball joint right before my big toe. When it's there, your whole toe hurts pretty much all the time. Happens when your foot is planted and you go another way. I had the same operation 10 years ago. Took about 3.5 months to fully heal. Toe feels great now. No soreness ever, or loss of motion. It's like night and day better than how it felt before the surgery. For those that have ever dealt with this kind of turf toe, the pain can be excruciating. I honestly don't know how he managed to play on it.

The years run too short and the days too fast The things you lean on are the things that don't last Well it's just now and then my line gets cast into these Time sausages There's something back here that you left behind Oh time sausages Buy me a ticket on the last train home tonight |
Seriously. Even if we needed LB or corners or WR more, you saw what a bad O line did to Luck. If they had drafted O line instead of whatever they picked their franchise QB would still be playing. Mahomes is having surgery! Get some fat guys!

Doesn’t matter what defense you run if the 5 guys up front can’t block 4 defensive linemen. |
I had turf toe and didn't need surgery...guess I'm tougher than Pat.
Actually, mine hurt like ****ing hell for at least a week or more and I could barely walk for a couple weeks. After a month, I was still pretty sore. Most NFL players get it and they're out for 2-4 weeks but don't need surgery. He played though it but did need surgery. Must have been something kind of unusual. |
Seems like he’ll be out for the majority of the off season. Hard to imagine we bring in new WRs with no starting QB to build chemistry with.

“Turf toe sounds harmless right? What’s the big deal? But for many professional athletes, turf toe has been a career ender. Remember PrimeTime Deion Sanders? Maybe the greatest cornerback to have ever played football. It was 1998 and the Dallas Cowboys were dominant in the first half of the season, especially Deion Sanders. Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner, picks up the phone and calls Deion’s agent to negotiate a price that will make Deion Sanders a Cowboy for life. As the story goes, both sides quickly settled on a $20M signing bonus. Jerry wanted to pay a $9M salary, but Deion wanted $10M per year. Jerry wouldn’t acquiesce, so Deion chose to play out the rest of the season without signing the contract in expectation of a larger free-agent contract at the end of next season. But then, in the heat of the Arizona sun while playing the Cardinals, Deion suffered THE injury, Turf Toe. The injury caused him to miss most of the current season and restricted him from ever returning to the player he was, and after the end of the following season, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys released Deion Sanders. PrimeTime was officially over.“

Sounds like we should trade for Deshaun just in case. |

Maybe Robinson will be gone and we sign cheap veteran like Fitz or Green |

Not saying we shouldn't invest in better protection but that's only part of the battle. |

And just because they're talking like that doesn't mean they won't do anything. |

JFC you’re an idiot. Even if they were to keep Sammy, they still will draft a WR. This team is going to be drafting a WR every other year at the very least, as they should. |

The Packers have consistently drafted OL to protect Aaron Rodgers and he still missed almost 2 entire seasons in the last 8. |

Mahomes just landed here in Green Bay to have his surgery tomorrow.
I feel amazing just knowing I am currently in the same city as him. |
Turf toe is no joke. :(
Foot injuries have ruined many careers. iirc Turf Toe ended Deon Sanders' career. |
I will offer my toe if needed

Mahomes is 25, it’s not 25+ years ago, and he plays QB not corner. I can’t believe you idiots think turf toe might ruin Pat’s career. Actually, I can believe you do, but not the others. |

Watkins: I 'd love to be a Chief. Winning Championships is worth more to me than $$$ Veach: **** OFF BROKE DICK. Vet MIN or hit the road! Watkins: WTF? Veach: THAT'S THE F**K! Veach: Chiefs Kingdom, We tried, but were unable to work something out with Sammy Watkins. Both parties mutually agreed to part ways. We are thankful for Sammy's contributions to the team, and wish him well in the future. |
Veach to Watkins: PUT. THAT COFFEE. DOWN. Coffee's for closers only.

I never said Mahomes career was over. I was just worrying because Turf Toe injuries can be severe and linger such a long time. Don't be such a dick. |

But the point still stands. It's not JUST the protection. Guys still get hurt. The Packers have built a line in front of Rodgers the whole time he's been there and he's had 2 season-ending injuries in the last 8 years. Sometimes, it just happens. |

Any word on how the surgery went?

The knife slipped and his toe came off. Thankfully, they replaced it with a bionic one, which Mahomes is going to shove up every team's ass next season. |

Turf toe in 2021 isn't exactly the same career ender as it was in 1998. Remember when Tommy John surgery was an instant career killer for MLB pitchers 20-30 years ago?

Was just listening to Tim Gunhard and Frank Boals show a little while ago and Tims sources said that Patrick tore his toe ligament off the bone during the SB..
Holy Shit!! If this is true...This kid is wrecking himself for this team.. We better fix the oline for his sake... |
