ALEX SMITH RELEASED
|
Old
|
"yawn"
|
Have we signed this piece of shit yet?
|
No
|
Is this an appropriate time to say...
Alex Smith did, does, and always will suck at football? |
Thanks for doing the best you could for us Alex. Have a good life.
|
Ah, good, I see we won the trade
|
Good luck Alex. You are tough.

Bring him in.
As a coach. |
not familiar with his work, bring in for a look? :D

The guy is reportedly smart AF and personable. With that kind of stash, he can do almost anything in the world that he wants to do. |
I mean he's better than Henne...
|
Smith asked for the release
|
He would probably rival Romo in the booth. Probably better in the booth than on the field...if he wants to stay around the game and collecting checks, that’s the best way.
But first, Jacksonville on line 1. |

Sad that classless organization is able to stay owned by Snyder. |

When he got off the phone with the guy that cut him , he tried to throw his cellphone at the wall really hard but it was short and just kind of slid across the floor and stopped before hitting the baseboard

A Smith > Henne |

Before the injury? Yeah. Now? No. |
Proved to himself he could get back into the league after his injury. He should bow out now and do media work

Not surprising after he trashed the team to the press. And can't say I blame him. He saved that teams otherwise miserable season and I don't think the organization or the fans gave a shit. Considering everything he went through he was treated pretty badly. You'd expect a team that's been constantly terrible to be a little more appreciative.
|
WTF Booth?
I just don't see that. I remember when they interviewed him in his own house ...he sucked. I think in the booth the same thing. Quote:

I mean. When I think about it.. Chad Henne sucks... |

2. I mean, he got FAT paid. He's taken care of for life. He's the Comeback Player of All Time. He needs to go home and **** his hot wife and have an insane Phyllis Rivers amount of kids and enjoy his life. |
You needed pics.

They had to. His contract was like necrotic bacteria eating away at the leg of Washington's salary cap
|
I think he is going to just hang around the house banging his hot wife.
That's what I would do...... |

While the hate may be strong on CP, he and Andy took a 2-14 team to 11-5 in 1 season. Was he a 49ers castoff? Yes, but better than any QB we had since Green, probably better. Did he win the big one? No, but at least we were in the playoffs 4 of the 5 seasons he was here. Most important, he knew he was history as soon as PMII's name was announced in the 2017 draft. But he still took him under his wing. That's class. Have a good life, Alex.

In his prime he was certainly better than Henne. |

He does NOT have the personality for TV
|
Quote:
He was NOT better than Trent Green. No way. He was an adequate game manager that they severely overpaid. |
Quote:
Green threw too many untimely INTs. But arguments could be made either way for each. |
He'd be a great backup!
|
He really needs to go to Jax, he can reunite with one of his biggest fans in Meyer and be the perfect bridge/mentor for Lawrence

If Meyer wants TL to sit a few games to get up to speed, Smiths right there Or if TL starts the year but stumbles outta the gate, they can bench him to cool him off and... Smiths right there Either way, they have a role model for TL and Smitty gets to play a few more games |
Would he agree to be out practice QB?

This place and ****ing Alex Smith. "Oh golly gee willickers! He sure was a swell guy to Pat and groomed him into the QB he is today! All hail Alex, the guy who turned Pat into a pro!"

Wins are not a QB stat. Smith was a better QB for KC if you want your QB to be a chickenshit and protect the ball above all else. Green beats him in all other ways. |
I don’t remember Trent throwing it 3 yds on 3 and 10...

I would love to see him back in KC as back up.

I'm not debating whether Smith or Green was the better QB, I'm just pointing out that maybe Green isn't the 3rd or 4th best QB the Chiefs ever had. |

Damon Huard also played things safe and won us a handful of games.
No, seriously. Basically all of the wins during the Herm Era are thanks to Downfield Damon. Green got one or two and Thigpen got 1. I think he even had a winning record with us in spite of being on a 4-12 and 2-14 team. Are some of you going to argue he's a better QB than Green? |

Happened just after I snapped this picture. All he had to do was not stare down Tony or maybe put some air under it. Nope. Tony R cuts inside, Tony G goes outside and the Houston defender steps right in front of Gonzalez and heads for the end zone. Priest almost caught him, which was impressive as hell. |
I actually remember that play. I was shocked Priest almost ran him down.

I am still amazed he went an entire NFL season without on TD pass to a WR.

I would say that I cannot believe Chiefs fans want to watch Alex Smith play QB again, especially after watching Mahomes.... but here we are.... Chiefs fans wanting Alex Smith back in KC.
I get it that he is a classy dude, but my god watching him play QB was horrific. |

Bring him in as a QB coach if he wants to stay around football. He knows Reid's system better than nearly anyone.

Just to drive this home, all of Alex Smith’s teams tended to have their seasons end by a simple formula in the playoffs. Play Cover 2, zone blitz Alex, and pound the Chiefs D by controlling TOP (with runs with additional blockers and quick passes/play actions) and that incarnation of the Chiefs honestly had no response for it. The fatal flaw of the Sutton defenses were that they were reliant on turnovers (usually through generating pressure) against pass heavy offenses and typically a bit weak against the run. That works in the regular season but always got exposed in the playoffs. The most predictable outcome? Giving that Chiefs offense the ball late in the 4th and/or needing the gassed Chiefs defense to get a critical stop with under 2 minutes left in the game. The story ended the same way for (most) Chiefs playoff teams from 1995-2017. I thought last year’s Super Bowl was basically the 2019 Chiefs against the 2015 Chiefs with a healthy Jamaal Charles & Justin Houston.. and the outcome played out pretty much exactly how the mid-2010’s Chiefs ended up in the playoffs. |
