KChiefs1 03-11-2021 08:56 AM

Called it.

notorious 03-11-2021 08:56 AM

Jesus Christ.

TribalElder 03-11-2021 08:56 AM

well, thanks for a few years ago

Hoover 03-11-2021 08:57 AM

That has to mean they are targeting a FA OT

KChiefs1 03-11-2021 08:59 AM

Back surgery & torn Achilles don't equate to being back by training camp.

ChiliConCarnage 03-11-2021 09:00 AM

Guy was great until the injury this year. Back injuries don't **** around. Good luck to Mitch

Spott 03-11-2021 09:04 AM

Had heard from locals in Ohio that his injury last year was likely career ending. Seemed hard to believe back then, but it looks like they were right.

Agreed. They also are likely to leave the Draft with minimum of 2 picks on OL if not 3.

They have to protect Mahomes, at all costs....

digger 03-11-2021 09:06 AM

We have released RT Mitchell Schwartz.

We'll never forget his 7,894 snap-streak. Thank you Mitchell for five incredible seasons.

wheeler08 03-11-2021 09:12 AM

For all the chiefs brain trusts that said we couldn’t cut injured players. Veech sees you

displacedinMN 03-11-2021 09:31 AM

whoa.

displacedinMN 03-11-2021 09:31 AM

will they look at Reilly Reiff?

They're going to be paying them unless the players agree to injury settlements.

You can't JUST cut an injured player, that's been the argument all along and it still holds true.

The Chiefs will have a nominal cap hit for both players and be responsible for paying for their rehab at the very least, absent an injury settlement.

bobhill 03-11-2021 09:40 AM

Thank you Fish and Schwartz

FloridaMan88 03-11-2021 09:49 AM

We'll probably never know, but I think there was an internal disagreement between the Chiefs and Schwartz with how his injury and recovery were handled... similar to Eric Berry.

Rain Man 03-11-2021 09:49 AM

Wait, both of them? I came into this thread expecting bad news about Schwartz and then you blindside me with Fisher too? That's cruel.

I'm sure they have scouted him.

Well at least now we know. Thank you Fish and Schwartz!

The Fisher news came out a bit before the Schwartz news actually...

tatorhog 03-11-2021 10:00 AM

So is Niang a legit contender at RT now?

Yeah, I just noticed the thread. The Schwartz news was on top when I arrived so I clicked it first and was immediately devastated.

:LOL:This. Your brevity in post number and words in general underline the importance of these 2. Nailed it!

Bwana 03-11-2021 10:16 AM

They need to figure this out soon, or RIP Mahomes.

Legit contender?

I think you can go ahead and pencil him in today.

He's had time for the labrum to heal and go through the rehab which works in his favor. I had to do it on my shoulder, and it wasn't fun. Hopefully he's got full flexibility in the joint and still has lateral movement to play on the edge.

Chief Northman 03-11-2021 10:31 AM

Welcome to KC Trent Williams

They've already got it figured out or they wouldn't have cut both tackles. Worry not!

Mecca 03-11-2021 10:46 AM

Ah so now Geoff will trash us for years on his shows, his butthurt over his brother is so weird.

Gary Cooper 03-11-2021 11:50 AM

Never seen a guy go from Cal Ripken Jr to Greg Oden so quickly.

Back problems are like kryptonite for fatties

JakeF 03-11-2021 12:36 PM

What the ****?

Beef Supreme 03-11-2021 12:39 PM

Schwartz pretty much completely shut down some of the best pass rushers in the game. Sucks that this back injury ended him.

ThyKingdomCome15 03-14-2021 08:12 AM

SB Champ, great career. We won't forget. Thanks Mitch!

Dante84 03-14-2021 05:17 PM

Random thought, and maybe I'm just being nostalgic/homerish...

Mitch has made it clear via social media that he is in KC for the long haul and plans to build a life here. He has also made it clear that he plans to continue his rehab and to see what comes of it.

Is there a chance we get to August/September/October, and decide to bring him back (on a team-friendly deal)? Not necessarily to be a stone cold starter, if he's not there physically, but as depth? They obviously have Niang penciled in, and will likely be bringing back Remmers, so my initial thought is no.

It will be interesting to see if that is something that he and Veach work out, or if he is actually going to hang them up.

Entirely possible.

More of a likelihood of a mid-season return than Fish.

Possibly, but I honestly think he may retire. I know he wants to open up a restaurant

Even the players know that the Super Bowl was ****ing bullshit.

The refs were intent on giving Tampa a lead.

Once they got a big lead they backed off the penalties.

The refs were so intent on helping Tampa it should have been investigated.
