I drive for lyft/uber
So the last few months I have been drving for lyft and uber and last night I was given a quest to do 25 rides get 250.00 and 80 ridcs get 181.00 plus 70.00 for 15 more rides after the 80.
I started driving last night at 5 pm and went to 2am. In that time I made over 550.00 in one night and over 1100.00 for the week with less than 36 hours driving. I completed he 80 ride quest and I am 13 rides from completing the 25 ride quest and 12 rides from completing the 15 ride quest for the extra 70.00. When I go out tonight I should be able to come close to what I made last night again. This is allowing me to install new HiD/LED headlights on my car and installing car play stereo system as well. The math comes out to around 32.00 an hour for last night. |
Way to go, Reroka.
Put some of that loot to the side for a rainy day. When you get a chance, tell us some of the horrible and funny things about people that you've driven! |

That's pretty great. How long can someone keep up that pace? Once a month or something?

I tend to drive Monday-Thursday 430 pm to 11 then Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 2 am and Sunday 11 am to 9pm. Over that 2 month time I have made 10 thousand dollars so far. |
IF anyone wants to try it, I have a referral code which will give you over 700.00 dollars for just giving 30 rides when you first sign up.
|
are you taking into account the expenses you are incurring with the vehicle?

Reroka,
Do you provide water and snacks for your guests? I always appreciate the extra amenities some drivers provide. |

Can you tell them to quit sending me their stupid virtue signaling emails? I don't need to get my morality from a taxi service I use to avoid DUIs

I used to make $600 a nite driving a Dumptruck hauling millings and asphalt.. Did that 3 nights a week along with my day job.. Did that for three years… Payed for 2 daughters weddings and a kickass vacation… Almost killed me though because of lack of sleep..

I drive a pristine vehicle but can't drive for uber/lyft.....it's a '92. Only 127k in miles.

I prefer doing food delivery. I started doing door dash a month ago. I love being able to turn down smaller orders or orders that are too far away. Also love being able to drop their food off and have little to no interaction with the customer.

I drove for Uber before covid in Portland.
One of 5 cities that required the use of rigs no older than 5 years so I took out a loan for the rig and covid hit. That financial hit was too much for our already weak marriage leading to the D. |

IT WAS WORTH IT!!! |
It sucks to drive in a major city. You are paid for distance but not time so traffic kills your ability to hit any goals.
It takes like 3.5 hours to do 7 rides. |

Good for you. I always hear uber guys complaining about how small the fees are ... etc etc. Now we know the truth. I like both lyft and uber, just figured out how to contact lyft here. Both are very good services

I drove Uber for three years in Houston and quit driving in April. I live in the Houston area, and after getting in a minor accident while driving Uber, my insurance rates skyrocketed because I had to raise my liability limits and get a Rideshare endorsement (my insurance company didn't know I was driving, and it wasn't clear that I needed to tell them because Uber touts the fact that it insures you while driving). The other reason I quit is that gas/maintenance/and misc. expenses were really eating into my income from driving, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, I began to look more closely at how much my passengers were paying Uber, and what my cut actually was. I had one trip where my passenger paid Uber around $75 and I got paid only $32...and there were multiple cases where Uber was taking anywhere between 25% and 50% of the fares (it was wildly inconsistent but the average was between 40% and 45%).
On the plus side, I had a few cool passengers including former Chiefs backup QB Pete Beathard, Texans OL Max Sharping, and while I can't remember his name, he'd been Neil Armstrong's commander in the Navy during the Korean War. |

I traded in a Nissan Quest a few years before I should have had to trade it in (because I ran up the mileage driving Uber), and got almost nothing for it. I bought a brand new car and drove that for less than a year (because of Covid, and because of quitting driving) and it's value is so much less than it should be because it has more miles on it than it should for the age of the car. |

I was in Dallas this past weekend for a bachelor party. We took Lyft's pretty much everywhere and holy shit, IDK if it is Dallas or what, but every single one was a ****ing nightmare.
One guy was going anywhere from 90-120 showing us "all the best spots in Dallas." A ride that was supposed to take 20-25 minutes, took an hour and a half. The next morning my friend noticed that Lyft was sending him notifications asking him if we were okay because we "appeared to not be headed towards our destination." Another driver was trying to pick up hookers on the way back from dinner. He said he wanted us to see how easy it was and how cheap they are... Another one just refused to really speak with us other than yes or no responses, and was driving like he just learned. Getting on the highway doing 30 miles an hour and shit. Like I said, I don't know if that is just Dallas in general or if we were just unlucky with our drivers, but jesus christ it was an adventure each time. |
It's been increasingly hard to count on getting one in the KC area.

Had a buddy telling me one of the worst things for him was something called a dead route? Basically when you pickup someone from a highly busy area like an airport and take them 25-30 miles out to the suburbs. But then, there is little to no business going back. So you have to use your time, mileage and gas to get back to a profitable area.
