I know y’all hating Sorenson right now but…..
as a reminder he made a lot of clutch plays for the Chiefs AND I will never forget that ever because he was a contributor for the Chiefs most memorable season.
If it wasn’t for Sorenson Chiefs may not have made or won the SuperBowl? Remember the Texans game? When he made that clutch stop on the fake punt? Also, when he forced a fumble on a kick return that led to a TD? If it wasn’t for him Chiefs may not win that game and no SuperBowl either. He contributed big time turning that game around and that game was a turning point for the Chiefs in the playoffs. I understand the hate playing him as a starting safety. He ain’t that but as a role player that makes clutch here and there, I’ll gladly take that on my team any day of the week. The what have you done for me lately sometimes clouds our perspectives of the overall picture. Daniel Sorenson isn’t a starting safety but is a great role player . Nothing more. He still deserves a spot on this team IMO if used Properly. Role player that’s it. I’m not here to stick up for Sorenson but I do think he deserves less hate. The source of frustration should be directed more to Spags than anything for playing him as a starting safety. |
It's a what have you done for me now league
|
That's his problem. He makes clutch plays in big moments, but that doesn't make up for his awful play 99% of the rest of the time. Currently he is a liability on this defense.

And you are 100% sticking up for him and he is not even a good role player anymore. There is nothing he's doing right and you can't count on him even in a limited role. The amount of great plays has diminished to like 1 in 5 games so far. It's not worth the 99.9% of shit play he gives us. |
THANKS GOOD POINT NOBODY HAS EVER BROUGHT THAT UP BEFORE VERY ORIGINAL POST
|
Dan can go cry into a pillow case stuffed with ****ing money, I don't care
We're waaay beyond sentimentality here, thanks for the good times now get the **** OUT |
I don't hate Sorensen. I don't know Sorensen. Here's what I do know about Sorensen:
1. He's 31 years old. 2. He'll make $2,462,000 this year. 3. He misses too many tackles and gets beat in coverage too often to be a starting safety in the NFL. If that's "hating" on Mr. Sorensen, then so be it. |
Again...
That 2015 Royals World Series team was magical. Do we want Alcides Escobar back? Christian Colon? Butera? Hell, we brought back Wade this year. That sure was memorable, wasn't it? MAYBE players like Mahomes are deserving of that kind of sentimentality from fans later in their careers. Sorensen? He can go **** off. |

Mistackling? Getting torched on big passing plays? |
He's 32 he's basically always been a marginal player that happened to make some big splash plays at times.
Now at 32 he's declined into being a horrendous player that is making no splash plays. |

They should stack him in the box more as the 8th guy if you need to blitz or have that extra defender at the line to help chime in to get you that stop on a running play on like a 3rd and short running play or goalline stance or something like that? Or perhaps line him up on a corner blitz? He could get there and is not afraid to hit to say the least. Perhaps use him on special teams more for your return coverage units both in the kicking and punting game. I don’t think he’d be that bad there? But no way should he play full time and be used in deep coverage plays most of the time like how this current staff is using him. Missed tackles, getting torched on big plays I guess blown coverages yeah I’m with you on that. He sucks in those aspects. |
Eric Berry made a lot of great plays for us too. Maybe we should bring him back. And DJ and Jamaal Charles.

Time moves on…. He is a liability now as a starter.
|
The Chiefs defense needs to get younger, faster and more athletic.

I’d also add toughness; I’d like to see a more physical mean nasty Dline. I’m tired of seeing the Dline getting manhandled. |
One of Andy's BYU buddies...
He's going nowhere |
"He still deserves a spot on this team IMO if used Properly"
**** the other 52 planet.com is your chance to win. |
|
Special Teams and backup/depth player at best.
He should not be a starting player on this team, let alone playing every single snap during a game. I'm baffled how we got to this point. |

Don’t let the memberries blind you. He ****ing sucks. |

Hes not getting outplayed on the ball when he's always 5'-10' away from it.
Mental... |

He's not much of a ball in the air defender. |
26 posts in and nobody has told the OP to drink antifreeze yet? This place is slipping.
Drink Antifreeze and die of AIDS please and thanks! |

His problem is that right now Justin Reid would've been able to get the corner on him and pick up the first down on that fake punt. We can appreciate what he did for this team and also acknowledge that he isn't that player anymore. If I thought this was a rough stretch that he'll come out of, I'd be more sanguine about it - but it isn't. He's a step short of where he once was and he knows it. So he's cheating and getting burnt time and time again. And frankly, the closer to the redline he has to run to stay in plays, the more prone he's going to be to mistakes (and he was always a little mistake prone as it was). The declining skills are snow-balling across the board on him. You've gotta get him out of there. |
I will look back on him fondly for his contributions in 2019 & 2020.
For now, he can get his ass to the bench. |
So we're stuck with Dirty Dan?
LOL |

This organization needs to stop the rah rah good job buddy mentality and get cutthroat. |
Sorenson has always been too slow to cover anyone. He had a few big plays in the playoffs, but let's be real here...the guy isn't athletic enough to cover NFL wideouts. (Or even Tight ends or Running backs for that matter)
|
Quote:
He was always a step or two too slow and now that he's lost another step he's two or three too slow. |
I think they keep him around to prevent other teams from using him to head hunt our players. He really does lead with his head fairly often and his play borders on what I would call 'dirty'.

I’ve been saying for a long time the only reason some fans actually think he is good is
1. People like saying Dirty Dan 2. He has made a handful of plays in his career but they happened in big moments so fans erase the the negatives from their minds. The browns game last year is Dan in a nutshell- He got burnt as usual and when he dives to hit the guy, it’s helmet to helmet and the ball is fumbled out of the end zone. The guy got beat and got lucky he smoked him in the head on the dive but to some fans they just see Dan has being clutch in the play. His negatives outweigh the few positives. Dude needs to go. Unfortunately we have Dan Jr. on the practice squad. I’m sure he will be around to take his place for the next decade. |

Sorensen is 31, HB is 29. The defense needs to be gutted this off-season. 2022 will be a step back. Bye Dirty, bye Honey, bye Frank...
|
Great.
I appreciate everything Sorenson did during the Super Bowl season and last years playoff run. But that was in the past. He sucks now. He should not be starting (or maybe even on the team at all). Time to give someone else a chance. Put Thornhill back in there and see what he can do. Can't be any worse (Sorenson is currently ranked dead last out of all safeties for coverage). Love ya, Daniel, but moving on . . . . . . |

He's always been a decent special teams player, which is exactly what the OP listed as his big plays.
He certainly shouldn't be a starting defender. |

I’ve always seen him as a Special Teams player…Then couple of years ago he’s out there on defense just chasing guys around.. Never really understood why he was out there…

I'll never forget what he did in the playoffs these last few years, but that's zero excuse for his abysmal play this season. He's literally cost us games at this point. |
It's bad when the only player on the defense that will thump opposing players is too slow to do it.
|
Hate Sorensen? Absolutely not. He was a key piece of the amazing run for KC.
Is it time to move on from him? Absolutely. You have to know when it's time to cut bait with a player and it looked like the decline started last year. He could still be of some value on special teams and as a guy that can spell a player for a few plays, but he shouldn't be starting or playing any significant snaps anymore. So you get what we have here now, and that's a lot of anger from everyone just wanting him off the field. It's warranted. |
Don’t worry about your girlfriend sucking off two guys at the bar. Remember the good times! She has a spot in your home forever.

Goddamn you Canucks are a weak breed.

Sorenson Fail Thread #78 since Sunday night......
|
|
I don't hate the guy, just hate the way he plays. Too slow. Needs steroids. Time to move on.
|
I loved the guy until he turned into Kendrick Lewis.
|
I don't hate him. He's a lifelong Chief and has made some crucial plays for us.
Like others have said, it's just very frustrating to see a player constantly get beat like he has this season. It's bad and it is killing this defense. |
Matt Cassel made a great play every once in awhile....
|
Maybe during practice they put him covering Clyde so they don’t notice how slow he is??
|
Having Sorenson on the team is fine. He would be a good special teamer/backup. He just shouldn't be starting. No way should he be playing 100% of the defensive snaps.
