Another car question

Truck randomly started making a clicking type noise in the front when the truck is in motion with foot not being on the gas. This is probably a bad wheel bearing right? Theoretically how long would I be able to drive on it? Wont be able to repair for a few weeks.

ToxSocks 11-01-2021 01:35 PM

Drive it till the wheel falls off.

ptlyon 11-01-2021 01:37 PM

Yep, just turn the radio up and ignore the clicking noise.

Is this the old Ranger?

Hard to say. It could be fine for years if you don't drive it to much. Most likely the noise will just get louder. I'm thinking it's fine to drive.

Try searching YouTube.

Cv joint if it's 4wd.

Not knowing the year, 4wd or 2wd, it sounds like a CV joint.

That has something to do with the brakes...nothing important. Anyway, had to do the hubs on a Dodge Dakota one time, it only took me 9 days. Have fun!

Yes it is. Does a 2wd not have a CV joint? I'm pretty sure that's it or something with the wheel bearing

Buehler445 11-01-2021 08:54 PM

Have you checked the tires? You could have a hail in the sidewalk then when you turn it hits the inner fender.

lewdog 11-01-2021 09:00 PM

I thought you were getting a new car in the past few years?

3k in vet bills delayed that

JakeLV 11-01-2021 10:35 PM

What year Ranger?

Does the sound change based on your speed?

I had a U-joint in a Ford Bronco drive line sound like clunking at low speed, and sounded like it was coming from the front of the truck. Was fine at higher speeds.

Put it up on blocks in the street

97. Usually hear the sound while driving with the foot off the gas

It would likely be on the inside.

If the hub is hot after 5 miles wheel bearing is probably out.
