Giants are having a covid outbreak
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Saquon Barkley is not alone. Several more Giants players tested positive this morning after the team gave everyone rapid tests following their Tuesday COVID scare. Those players have taken PCR tests and the Giants expect to get those results tonight.</p>— Ralph Vacchiano (@RVacchianoSNY) <a href="https://twitter.com/RVacchianoSNY/status/1455937013543325704?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 3, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

**** **** **** ****
don't test any chiefs players LMAO |
I thought the 2nd test has already come back with only 1 or 2 positives?
As long as they didn't get/give it to us. |
Didn't they have a bunch of false positives this morning? Saw something about 13 testing positive, then all were negative on re-test.
|
rapid tests have high false positive rates.

anecdotal I guess , This is just info I have gathered through work (taking to ER docs etc..) and from my friend who has been a lab tech for 25 years and my wife who is a doctor . If you get a positive rapid test you will need to have a PCR test to confirm that tells me the rate is high enough no to trust it on positives, if your negative you are good though and that is why it is still useful for for places that test a lot of people often. This is just info I have gathered through work (taking to ER docs etc..) and from my friend who has been a lab tech for 25 years and my wife who is a doctor , I think there was a post that the team was using rapid tests. |

So they have one positive case and it's a coach.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-partner="tweetdeck"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Giants had 13 positive results among those tested yesterday; all 13 were retested today and the only positive was RB coach Burton Burns, who turned 69 last week.<br>*<br>Three players missed practice today due to COVID protocol: RB Saquon Barkley, G Matt Skura and S Xavier McKinney.</p>— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) <a href="https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1455992911909240838?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">November 3, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Whole mass runs of tests that come back with that many “false positives” seems fishy.
How, exactly does that happen? I assume these tests are made to detect something specific to COVID-19…how would it detect positive for something that’s not present? |

Nucleocapsid protein (NP) is one of the predominantly expressed structural proteins and has been confirmed as an ideal target for early diagnostic detection in SARS-CoV infection. That is what these tests are designed to detect. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/art...827/#sec1title |
