Ok Gang, Need Your Help With Ideas For a Charity Drive

It turns out that our very own Haywire used to be a semi-pro bullrider, and at his ancient age of 45 he is looking to ride one more monster next spring for charity... and recapture some of the old glory for himself, before he's too old to do it anymore

He has asked me for help, but the truth is I have NO experience with this kinda thing whatsoever... closest I ever got was donating $50 to SOC

Really needing help with this, and in fact would prefer to pass off the heavy lifting due to my inexperience

But the basic idea is to have the board donate whatever they can, and then donate 100% of the proceeds to charity

Haywire will provide training videos as he prepares over the winter, and then live stream the actual bull ride this coming spring

The biggest question is which charity, it could be anything from Wounded Warriors in honor of Randall Flagg, to something like the Make-A-Wish foundation

We want the board to decide that question, but beyond that would ANYONE like to help tackle this project?... because, again, I have no clue at all

Vladimir_Kyrilytch 11-05-2021 03:06 PM

45 is not too old to ride wtf? I've been riding your mother well into my 70's.

IowaHawkeyeChief 11-05-2021 03:17 PM

wounded warriors in honor of Randall Flagg would be my vote and I will donate.

Wasn't there a dude that scammed the board for a pile of money back in the day?

Get him.

Titty Meat 11-05-2021 03:28 PM

Easy 6 11-05-2021 03:31 PM

Whole lotta not helpful going on up in here

stumppy 11-05-2021 04:36 PM

First thing you need to do is enlist Hootie to handle the money.

ToxSocks 11-05-2021 04:44 PM

Will charity drive exceed 100mph?

Easy 6 11-05-2021 04:53 PM

 Haywire this is gonna be a battle

If we can't get some big guns to enlist here soon...

KS Smitty 11-05-2021 04:58 PM

Figure out what charity you're going to donate to
Name your event ie: Haywire's Bullride for (charity)
Set a $ goal: You need something to shoot for
Figure out how to accept donations and who will be the collector/distributor of funds.
Post threads on CP when certain stages of event are happening (conditioning, practice rounds) with links to donate.

HayWire 11-05-2021 05:10 PM

Man,...lotta vaginas.

No BS.

I'm all in

One ride. Real rodeo.

Shut up or **** up.

I'm open to live stream at any point

Nod ya head and thank God

HayWire 11-05-2021 05:12 PM

I'm voting for wounded warriors

I can be useful with 1-3, but am quite frankly not tech savvy enough to be the point man on this regarding which donation mechanism is used, nor do I want to be responsible for the money

Consider me an idea man, not the money guy

We're leaning Wounded Warriors, because who can't get behind that? that said our ears are open to any worthy charity... maybe some mod could help craft a good poll for donaters to choose from

It would be hilarious, and its all for a good cause

Haywire is a total wackjob... the training montage videos alone are gonna be GOLD

We need some real go getter to enlist... the poster formerly known as capone, BRC, AJKCFAN, someone along those lines

Balto 11-05-2021 05:17 PM

X-FACTOR charity of course!

HayWire 11-05-2021 05:28 PM

I'm trying to be serious.

One rodeo, one ride.

I'll document what you need.

We've lost to many.

Pick your charity. I will take pics or stream along the way.

Got 6 months. This is on my dime. Not asking to donate to me.

Wounded Warriors is a good one. Also, given that RF and several others battled cancer (losing a few along the way) you could do something like the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Just another option to mull over.

HayWire’sTesticles 11-05-2021 05:38 PM

Is the Mrs. actually going to let you have us back to do this?

Pablo 11-05-2021 05:48 PM

I like the spirit of this thread and will throw in some cash to Wounded Warriors if it gets coordinated.

Holladay 11-05-2021 06:53 PM

I would ask Haywire if there is any organization that is local to him that could use the funds would be a better choice.

I don't like donating to the Cancer Society, Heart Organizations et. al. because there is too much graft.

A nice local place that could use the funds would be a suggestion.

We have a 300 lb ram sheep with his testicles cut off that free runs the farm. He doesn’t know if he is a pig or a horse or a cow and takes turns with all of them. We call him sheepsquatch. He sometimes will take a full run at you but I hit him in the head with whatever is closest and he stops. Anyways how about we see if bueller can ride him for 8 seconds too. I will take video and you can donate to his new charity.(st. Catherine hospital emergency room)

Just a thought:doh!:

Haywire will ride that sumbitch until its balls tap out and drop off

Also, do you have any internet fundraising experience?

philfree 11-05-2021 08:54 PM

I have an in law who rode PBR. On one ride he tore his abdominal muscles from his pelvic bone. He had it surgically repaired and went back to ride some more and did it again. He had his head stepped on at least once as well. He won Reno one year and made it to the finals a couple times. He's a really nice guy but he is dumber than a box of rocks. God bless.

On point. One easy thing you can do is PM Kyle and see if he'd be good using the Donate link at the top of the page for the fundraiser, then taking care of the donation (or having one of us do it).

And if not that option of digger's link, setting up a PayPal account or a GoFundMe (depending on the fees the latter takes) would be easy enough.

I'm happy to help with the money and/or tech or mod side of things.

I'm definitely not the promoter type... I'll help upload the video and then create a thread and be like, hey guys, looks at this testicleless dummy on a bull.

Also Tunnels to Towers payoff mortgages of military and first responders whose loved ones died in service so their families can keep their homes.

Then there is Hope for the Warriors Gary Lt.Dan Sinise is a spokesperson for. Assistance for US service members and their families that have been affected by injuries or death while serving. It recently received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator which is a great resource for these sorts of things.

Yeah, I forgot about Tunnels to Towers. The Marine Corp Law Enforcement Foundation is another solid one.

It sounds like it's going to be WW though, which is perfectly fine. I just thought I'd throw another option out there. Makes no difference to me one way or the other, I'm watching HayWire's beastality show regardless.

Well, for whatever reason, Easy 6, you seem very hesitant to be the promoter/lead on it. There are several suggestions here, including Smitty's to-do list, the fundraiser link, my suggestion to ping AustinChief about the Donate link, and my offer to do the PayPal/GoFundMe/whatever if needed..... and it seems like that's all been met with nothing more than a continued plea for help.

That's already a lot of help and you'll need to move the needle some to get it going.

To go back to Smitty's suggestions....
- Name a charity.
....well, do that.

- Name the event.
....well, do that, too.

- Set a goal for the fundraiser
....and this, should be pretty simple to pick a number that's easily attainable.

- Figure out how to accept donations
...suggestions already made. I'd personally go the AC route first if you're only targeting CP for donations, or the fundraiser link, and then GoFundMe (only because I don't know the fees involved).

- Post threads at certain stages
...create the content. My suggestion would be to start with a video explaining everything above. Maybe add some humor in it by providing the starting point of conditioning (getting thrown from a mechanical bull after half a second, or trying to balance on an exercise ball, etc.). Provide the donation link and above information for each thread, or use one thread and add videos with previous progress in spoiler tags.

Yeah, guess I don't get it.

If all you're looking for is something completely centered around CP with donations, it doesn't take the effort of renaming a highway or organizing large parties for your own vanity..... and unless the target is something like $10k, then just roll with it and if you get $500, call it good.

Nobody is jumping to be big-time promoter person because that role doesn't need to exist.

No one is going to name a charity for you... do that.
You could take suggestions on naming your gig, but just do that.
There are several suggestions for the money part, pick one.
Create the content.

It's not rocket surgery, no idea why ya'll are throwing in the towel when there's very little to actually do outside of the content.

All is not lost, we will take all of those steps including a message to AC about your idea... the good news is theres plenty of time to get things together, I'm still in

Otter 11-06-2021 06:03 PM

My next step would be making bullet points in the OP of what objectives need to be met and what obstacles need to be tackled so everyone can review them and determine if they can help. Update them as needed to document progress and challenges still being faced. When an objective is met document as appropriate as possible and the same when a new challenge is introduced.

Keep the troops up to date and make them feel like part of the team.

You got this! :thumb:

Keep the troops up to date and make them feel like part of the team.

You got this! :thumb:

Yeah we're gonna make this happen

Would Randall Flagg have quit?

HELL NO!

You know what to do, Haywire... its time to BEAST

That wasn't directed at you, I was using examples from two people here who have organized highway signage and large parties, and I was being snarky about the latter.

Sorry for the confusion, this is a great idea, which is why I was a little vocal about Easy6 mentioning the bowing out... I don't want this to be dropped because anyone thinks it's a ton of work or they have zero help, because it really shouldn't be much work and people are standing by to help (including me).

Trust me, we all want to see you and your testicles fly off a bull one last time.

I don't know how

Just gonna leave CP out of it.

Log off and rest up, your training starts at 2:45 am

5 raw eggs
Sprint 5 miles straight
Bench a picnic table 5 times

Don't be late...

You did your job Easy. Board is aware. Get er done Haywire!

I was going to drop this.

Decided we'll push forward even though bear hurt my feelings.

Just to be clear.

This is 100 percent charity.

We're dropping like flies and I'd love for CP to throw a couple of bucks towards a worthy cause at my expense.

Rocky mountain Flagg foundation?
The mahomes contract coalition
Sorenson buyout fund

Like the gay one said. This isn't hard.

E6 has jumped back in to help out but any other help would be appreciated.

I'm getting us started.

Other than buying new equipment (lost most of my shit in a house fire) I'm donating too

I'm in for $100

Easy 6 11-08-2021 03:18 PM

Step 1 is complete, we're going with Wounded Warriors for the charity, its obviously a very worthy charity that most people can feel good about supporting

Step 2 is coming up with a name for this drive... we would like to mine the rich vein of cutting wit that is CP, and see what you guys can come up with

Step 3, setting a goal... we're not gonna worry about a number, $500 or $5000 its all good either way

Haywire is going to take some practice rides on wednesday if possible, and he will post up the footage in this thread
