Chiefs Trivia Question
I didn't know the answer to this one.
Q: Who were the captains for the Green Bay Packers and KC Chiefs for the Coin Flip in Super Bowl 1? Do you know without Googling??? |
I'm completely guessing without looking.
Len Dawson and Jerry Mays Bart Starr and Henry Jordan |

Max McGee and Bart Starr |
Nope.
Hint: Each team sent out two captains, one for offense, one for defense. |
Interesting facts:
In the 55 Super Bowls just 25 teams have won the coin flip and the game. The winners of the last seven Super Bowl coin tosses have gone on to lose. Overall, Heads has won 26 times, while Tails has won 29 times. The Packers won the coin toss in Super Bowl I calling "Heads" |
Ubeja where ya at bruh?

After I submitted my answer I did a Google search. I must be bad at Google because I couldn't find the answer. Lots of stuff about SB coin tosses, but nothing as specific as this trivia question.
|
I was thinking maybe Lenny and Sherrill Headrick for the Chiefs. I would be totally guessing for the Packers.
|
Lenny and Buck?

The answer:
Green Bay Packers Co-Captains Left Tackle Bob Skoronski(No.76)& Left Defensive Tackle Willie Davis(No.87)shake hands with Kansas City Chiefs Co-Captains Center Jon Gilliam(No.65) & Left Defensive End Jerry Mays(No.75) |
Man, I never would've guessed Gilliam, and Bob Skoronski would've been my 10th or 11th guess on offense.
|
Now that's a trivia question I bet 0.01% of sports fans would get. Good one!
|
I don't believe I've ever heard of Bob Skoronski. Or if I did, it was many many moons ago, and I've forgotten.
|
I would have guessed that both QBs would have been captains. I do remember they played with different footballs. I believe the Packers's ball was a Wilson and I know the Chiefs used a Spalding. The game was broadcast on both CBS and NBC. We watched the game on NBC since it was "our (AFL) network".
