Player and coach opinion are what I'm mostly interested in and would assume you are correct and no one gives a shit... it's no different than taunting your friends while playing video games.

I assume they don't want things to escalate from a finger point to defender pushing CEH out of bounds, then for animosity to spill over later into a dirty hit or something. But, then come down hard on people who have problems with proportional response.

Hockey has the same issue with trying to de-escalating things in the playoffs... they don't call all the BS during play,, but then will call a good hockey hit because helmets touched, but you can put a guy in a headlock and bang his head on the ice after a whistle.

CEH pointing his finger directly at someone is a stupid rule, but we've known it's a rule since before the season started when they specifically targeted Tyreek Hill putting up the deuces at someone when he was making the same play.

When the NFL rules committee/ownership decided to make this a big issue this year, I was hoping the refs would basically ignore it, like a few things in the past.
Seems like there was pass interference challenge to their calls either way that has gone by the wayside because they basically said **** you and wouldn't overturn.

I fail to see what's "woke" about the rule. What the intent of the rule was, as Bearcat stated, was to keep things from escalating to the point a player gets injured. To many of these owners the players are just part of the equipment, some more valuable than others. They have to protect their assets. Let's not forget the monetary end of the NFL.

Then he started just throwing up the peace sign in general on the way to the end zone to save himself the penalty, which was smart. Last year he started that ridiculous shit, back flipping into the end zone, leading to the whole Winfield peace sign in the Super Bowl.

Tyreek took it too far and was the biggest reason they decided to enforce this new policy.

I don't like the new rule, but it actually is pretty simple to follow. Celebrate all you want, just don't aim the celebration at a member of the opposing team.

Smith must have said something to the ref to get his so unless we get some audio from it I'll reserve judgement either way.

Why did the ref, when explaining the flag, say that it was AFTER the touchdown?

Was the real taunting something else said after the TD? Does the penalty change depending on if the taunt is before or after the play?
