Taunting...Woke NFL Style....
|
If you polled fans, players, and coaches alike if there should be less penalties like this - at least 90% of them would agree you don't need this ticky tack taunting policing. This is entertainment NFL. Shit, I'd like more of this not less. That makes for better TV and more headlines. Give the people what they want No Fun League.

You should have to be an ex NFL player to be a ref. These shriveled up twats are nanny bots.
Pointing is wrong!!! |
Such a disgusting act. It's a shame he did that on live TV. Children everywhere must be traumatized.
|
I want to know what Tre Smith said to get the unsportsmanlike penalty against him.
|
I honestly thought he was playing "Smell my Finger"
|
What's "woke" about this?

We're 11 games into the season. CEH shoulda known better. He did it again later in the game and didn't get called for it.
|
Did anyone see someone on the Lions got a penalty for talking shizz on Clowney's moms?

I assume they don't want things to escalate from a finger point to defender pushing CEH out of bounds, then for animosity to spill over later into a dirty hit or something. But, then come down hard on people who have problems with proportional response. Hockey has the same issue with trying to de-escalating things in the playoffs... they don't call all the BS during play,, but then will call a good hockey hit because helmets touched, but you can put a guy in a headlock and bang his head on the ice after a whistle. The NFL is even more jacked up, it seems... throwing people out of the game for two taunts. |
Love how in England fans started throwing bottles on the field when taunting penalties like this were called.
The NFL really wants to go to London. I'm not sure if they'll be ready for London's fans. |
What was the dance Fenton was doing when he got his taunting penalty?
|

CEH pointing his finger directly at someone is a stupid rule, but we've known it's a rule since before the season started when they specifically targeted Tyreek Hill putting up the deuces at someone when he was making the same play. |

When the NFL rules committee/ownership decided to make this a big issue this year, I was hoping the refs would basically ignore it, like a few things in the past. Seems like there was pass interference challenge to their calls either way that has gone by the wayside because they basically said **** you and wouldn't overturn. |

The cabal of elderly white billionaires choosing to do away with young (mostly) black men celebrating - against the public wants and desires - doesn’t scream “woke” to me.
Something else maybe, but definitely not “woke.” |
they called this really fast, but when the Cowbois are ripping helmets off, way too long to be called...
Maybe we can just go to eye in the sky (NY) calling the games... Don't they have access to the all 22 during the game? |

Those rich assholes just want to put their thumb in. Probably a $1 bet between a couple of them.. |

I say keep taunting. Butker is more accurate from the 40s than he is normal XP distance
|
The NHL has it right.......let the guys drop gloves and fight it out. The players love it.......the fans love it.....
No one tunes OUT of hockey games because of fighting. Like the NHL - if a player takes a helmet off (the universal sign it's go-time).......they have to sit 3 plays out (penalty box). We're on to something here.... 15yd penalty flags are nothing but another subjective way for refs to influence betting lines. |

Players, coaches and fans all hate it. |
I actually think there is a possibility CEH was pointing towards Mahomes direction behind him for throwing the dime - like a thank you for tossing it.

It's like they have tunnel vision for whatever the NFL says that week... why of course guys, we want you to keep an eye out for taunting AND helmet to helmet hits AND blatant face masks, at the same time! |

I will refer you to Chapter 6 of this aforementioned book, entitled "How the Game is Really Played" |
I fail to see what's "woke" about the rule. What the intent of the rule was, as Bearcat stated, was to keep things from escalating to the point a player gets injured. To many of these owners the players are just part of the equipment, some more valuable than others. They have to protect their assets. Let's not forget the monetary end of the NFL.

It’s more of a crotchety old boomer thing. Everyone bring your lunch pail and don’t have any fun.

The taunting penalty is literally the dumbest shit. The league and some coaches like to say it's so we can set a good example for the kids.
Well, you created a rule that everyone complains about. You penalize CEH for pointing a finger in a guys face...so what do we do? In the fourth quarter our guys skirt the rules by dancing and gesturing on the sideline. They've literally created a rule that teaches kids the lesson of how to be a bigger bully than you could've been in the first place while bending the rules. There should be no taunting penalty. With all of its bullshit, the league shouldn't be trying to preach any type of morality. They should be focused on making sure their owners know how to treat others with basic respect and morality before trying to show the rest of us how to live our lives. **** Goodell. |

We can thank Tyreek for this shit with the peace sign and back flipping into the end zone.
Just score the ****ing TD, bro. |

I think it was a fantastic idea for CEH Butker has a higher percentage at 48 than 25 or whatever the hell an XP is these days.

And if the opposing coach is smart he will decline. LMAO |

It's all well and good to be having fun, but, IIRC, he was flagged for taunting early in his career when he threw up the peace sign at a specific player. Then he started just throwing up the peace sign in general on the way to the end zone to save himself the penalty, which was smart. Last year he started that ridiculous shit, back flipping into the end zone, leading to the whole Winfield peace sign in the Super Bowl. Tyreek took it too far and was the biggest reason they decided to enforce this new policy. |
I don't like the new rule, but it actually is pretty simple to follow. Celebrate all you want, just don't aim the celebration at a member of the opposing team.
Clyde is a dipshit for pointing at the defender as he was jogging into the end zone. They're going to call that every time. Rashad was also a dipshit for whatever it was that he was doing. It's OK to be upset that you get your helmet ripped off, but all that extra shit he was doing, shooting into the air, running his mouth right in front of the ref, they're going to call that shit every time. |
Even fans are becoming nanny-ish
Its soccer level wokeism soon, the ball carrier will have to hand the ball to the referee whilst the opponents line up for a mandatory 5 second clap to show support and sportsmanship |
Priest would've been flagged for all of his open arms TD taunts
|
For this rule to be “woke” it would need to somehow claim that taunting encourages racial injustice. It’s not woke. It’s dumb as hell, but not woke.
|
Nothing woke about this. I remember when players weren't allowed to do fun stuff on the field when we were more conservative as a society.

I don't know how players are still allowed to do a Roman salute "1st down" gesture.
I'm pretty sure one time a Dallas player did it, he actually made physical contact with Thornhill. |

But, it’s a geezPete thread. |

I hate how far they went with the rule. But I can complain about both the rule and ceh and his blatant disregard of the rule. Fenton didn't even draw a flag until the fake shooting bit which was dumb on all kinds of levels. No idea what that was about. Smith must have said something to the ref to get his so unless we get some audio from it I'll reserve judgement either way. |
Why did the ref, when explaining the flag, say that it was AFTER the touchdown?
Was the real taunting something else said after the TD? Does the penalty change depending on if the taunt is before or after the play? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
