Patriots at #2? With a rookie QB? ROFL

Hammock Parties 12-22-2021 09:08 AM

We have taken a significant lead over anyone not using Mac Jones at QB

Fun fact: no team with a rookie QB has reached the SB.

And that can be directly blamed on Andy Reid /Alex Smith

Surprised to see the Packers that low. Although their defense does seem to suck lately.

Hammock Parties 12-22-2021 09:48 AM

I love the fact the Titans have dropped off the face of the earth.

27-3 will go down in history as a footnote on our greatness.

Their chances will go back up when/if Henry gets back.

We weren’t gonna make the SB in 2017 regardless.

NFC is top heavy.

Man he's done. That foot isn't going to hold up.

They're going out like the 06 Chiefs.

EPodolak 12-22-2021 11:07 AM

List is goofy.

Yes, I knew that. And I don't see NE being the first.

This idea that he’s going to quickly return and be his usual self with his usual workload is rather unlikely.

That's Football Outsiders - it's pure statistics and doesn't factor in injuries and "eye" test stuff. Vegas odds are quite a bit different, but still have the Chiefs as the favorite, but tied.

MGM has us at even odds with the Packers to win the Super Bowl at +475. Tampa Bay is third at +550.

We're at +190 to win the AFC Championship, followed by New England at +400 and Buffalo at +450.

Yeah unless the Patriots are able to play every single game in 35 mph wind. I don't know how on earth they can be favored. They are like the 10th best team in football.

Just like that 44 minute time of possession game Houston put on us at Arrowhead ended up being in our championship year.

I'm hard pressed to find a worse loss than that one, including the Bills and Titans losses this year.

A lot of money and false hope rests in Pats fan’s hands.

Vegas will rape them like they have so many others in the past.

DaFace 12-22-2021 12:54 PM

538's list has us on top as well (tied with the Packers), and their rankings pass the sniff test a little more easily.

Have they watched Prescott play? NO WAY will the Cowboys make the SB with his inept passing!

One where the coach almost refuses to let that Rookie Qb throw a pass!

Tough to do but probably becoming easier nowadays than it was in pre salary cap era.

Many QB's entering NFL are more prepared than ever before so sooner or later a rookie QB will lead his team to the SB and may even win it. Not many rookie QB's on good teams that went .500 or above the previous year even get a chance to start.

As a pick later in the first round, Dan Marino was one of them and he lost in first round of the playoffs but just looking at box score and video of a little bit of the game, he probably outplayed David Kreig, the opposing QB. Marino had 2 TD's and 2 INTS which wasn't bad at all for that era but Dolphins lost by 27-20 thanks to 5 turnovers in total and a missed extra point. 3 fumbles including 2 on special teams/kick off returns doomed Miami.

Rookie Jones may not be rookie Marino but he may not have to be if his teammates don't fumble the ball 3 times.

The turnaround happened pretty much immediately after I had cashed out of a couple SB bets I made preseason.

Not very surprising.

Most rookie QBs either didn't played in their first season or were drafted by awful teams.

Most teams picking in the top 5 aren't a good QB away.
