Where do you rank this past Sundays game against the Bills all time?

I got to put it behind our super bowl victory over San Fransico. I see alot of people always talking about the Miami Christmas game I wasn't alive for that. The Montana game on MNF @ Denver was pretty iconic but to me IMO comes nowhere close as our last game.

What say you?

OnTheWarpath15 01-27-2022 09:07 PM

As far as judging the actual game action from start to finish, including importance?

It's the best in my lifetime.

Super Bowl would be second, but that wasn't that great of a game except for the last 6 minutes and the end result.

comochiefsfan 01-27-2022 09:10 PM

So the Super Bowl was the biggest deal but it's not the most excited and emotional I've felt during this run. If I had rank it among my FAVORITE playoff wins in the Mahomes Era I would go as follows:

1. 2019 AFCCG vs Ten
2. 2021 Div vs Buf
3. 2019 Div vs Hou
4. 2019 SB vs SF
5. 2020 AFCCG vs Buf
6. 2020 Div vs Cle
7. 2018 Div vs Ind
8. 2021 WC vs Pit

Again the Super Bowl was obviously the biggest, but those are my personal favorite games during that run.

The first AFC title game was just so damn cathartic. I'll never forget the goosebumps I had after the Watkins TD, watching Mahomes with his arms to the sky with the sea of red behind him losing their collective minds. The reality that I was going to see the Chiefs in a Super Bowl set in at that moment and it was the absolute coolest feeling ever.

IowaHawkeyeChief 01-27-2022 09:13 PM

If we win it all this year, it will be #1 easy...

Rasputin 01-27-2022 09:18 PM

I've never seen anything like at and all the action and I think Mecole Hardman when asked described it best "Like a roller coaster".

As soon as you got your hopes up other team scores then back and forth till the very end like two heavy weights whaling at each other and neither going down.

Like a Rocky movie

Why Not? 01-27-2022 09:18 PM

SB is always number 1. I have this tied with the Houston game as our best non SB playoff wins.

Hammock Parties 01-27-2022 09:24 PM

It's basically the Rams game, except we win, and in the postseason.

So yes, the greatest game, ever.

Bump 01-27-2022 09:34 PM

that was the greatest playoff game ever and playoff games override regular season games because it's the ****ing playoffs.

Two of the greatest moments of all time in Chiefs history happened this season (besides the Superbowl win and getting to the Superbowl the year after). Beating the Charges like that in OT in the regular season and 13 seconds. Both clinched by Kelce, the GOAT TE.

Spott 01-27-2022 09:34 PM

The game itself felt like the Royals WC game in 2014 and beating the Bills felt like beating the Blue Jays in 2015. Maybe it’s being a little cocky, but it reminded me of those Cowboy/49er games of the 90’s where the best teams in the NFL ended up playing before the Super Bowl.

Personally, I don’t know if anything will top the 2019 AFCCG game against Tennessee when we finally made it to the big game after decades of heartbreak.

k.

That's exactly what it reminded me of.

We've beaten them twice now so maybe next year is their turn after they sign Deion Sanders.

The Tyreek play reminded me of Alvin Harper's catch against SF in the 1992 championship.

TribalElder 01-27-2022 09:39 PM

It was the best game I have ever watched

The play from both teams was top tier

The last minute heroics were the stuff of legend

I only regret that I didn't attend in person, this one was an all timer

Tribal Warfare 01-27-2022 09:45 PM

This comeback was the 1st time I truly felt how I did during the Montana years. Pure adulation and reverence. The Charger game's when Patrick got his mojo back the Bill's game made Mahomes a force of nature "The Reaper game"

Stryker 01-27-2022 10:02 PM

Hands down, the GREATEST CHIEFS game EVER! I get the fact that the Bills did not get the chance to retort because of the NFL rules but, **** THEM we lost in the EXACT same situation because Dee Ford was 5 ****ing inches OLS! We felt the pain THEN, BILLS can feel the PAIN NOW! It stings but WE do not have to feel the STING! GEAUX CHIEFS! :thumb:

Damn, I’m surprised you remembered that game. I just remember that the Niners couldn’t stop Dallas at all in the fourth quarter.

In a roundabout, Butterfly Effect type way, yes it was.

BigRedChief 01-27-2022 10:52 PM

Favorite is the SB winner. Because of the result not the play of both teams.

Bills divisional Best game ever???? Probably. Thinking Elway/Montana game, our coming out as a team on MNF in the Early 90’s. May be a memory thing and wasn’t that good of games.

Coochie liquor 01-27-2022 10:55 PM

I’ve had friends of mine, that are fans of other teams text me this week that was the best game they’ve ever seen. It was insane. I was super drunk, like SUPER DRUNK. But the final 2 minutes and OT were so ****ing mind blowing, and almost impossible to comprehend that it took til the next day and a few watches to grasp it. It was something that never should happen because of the impossibility of it. To me, up to this point it was the best game I’ve ever seen. And we’ve had a bunch in the Mahomes era, and not discounting the SB win, or 0-24, or down 10 to Tenn. but it was insane that it played out like that. That’s true magic, and Mahomes is the magician.

Sassy Squatch 01-27-2022 11:04 PM

It's probably a top 10 game of all time. Both of the best QBs in the NFL thought to be unbeatable on their best days actually had their best days at the same time in the divisional. Unstoppable force vs immovable object, that luckily for us was decided in our favor by a coin toss.

Some people think the KC /Rams was the best regular season game of all time...so Mahomes is stacking them.

I really loved the Houston 24 points down playoff comeback - that was special.

It and Buffalo will be just as special if we win the SB again, if not, just barely a notch below it.

The Super Bowl win. WASP, D Williams. Mahomes.

The AFC win was almost as good as those.

We gotta beat the Bengals this week...

It wasn't decided by the coin toss.

Buffalo gave up the 13 second FG drive, then Mahomes surgically marched his team down the field.

It was decided by MAHOMES.

Nah, Allen and Diggs are Malone and Stockton to Mahomes and Hill's Jordan and Pippen - never gonna win it all because of that generational talent in the way.

We're in their head. Their whole team was built specifically to beat this KC team, this year. We may have broke them. If they make it back to Arrowhead in the playoffs next year, they're getting beat again.

Mark it, dude.

I like that analogy.

But Dallas was in the Niners heads just the same.

And Buffalo beat the **** out of us in the regular season.

I see these teams as very, very close if Buffalo can add an elite rusher or skill position player.

their defense is no joke.

Don't know if Allen will last long with the amount of running he does with his body so upright and taking those hits. Like Lamar. He tries to truck Honey Badger or Jamal Adams the way he did C Ward last weekend, he's gonna have a come-to-Jesus moment.

If Baltimore or Denver add a real QB (Rodgers or Wilson) they're dangerous. Cincy is obviously going to be good for a little while.

I'm more curious what Allen looks like if Daboll leaves...he developed him from a country kid with a big arm that was terribly inaccurate. He looked amazing on Sunday...so much better than the AFCCG in 2020.

I mentioned before how fortunate KC is...in their HC is their OC. He cant get poached..

What say you?

Me personally:

Super Bowl - because Super Bowl
2020 AFCCG - Got the Lamar Hunt Trophy back.
2020 Houston - Feels like we finally broke "Because Chiefs".

This one is below those. But only because it was shedding a ****ing lifetime of failure and heartache. It was incredibly cathartic.

HOWEVER. From a pure football perspective, this is the best game I've ever seen. It probably ranks up there with the Monday Night Montana-Elway game, probably better, but I'm open to recency bias.

It's impossible to separate my rooting interest from the game, but that might be the best game I've ever seen. It certainly feels like it on 1/28/22, but again, I'm open to recency bias.

From what Brian Daboll was here, I just can't bring myself to believe Daboll did anything but sit on his thumb.

Buffalo is so inept as an organization, I could see them bringing Chan Gailey back as OC. Again.

Remember how terrible Allen played against the Texans the year we won the Super Bowl? Played great all game and fell apart down the stretch? He's come a long way...but he has the Grbacness in him. Unlike Mahomes, who has NEVER shit the bed in the playoffs.

Absolutely, but I'm curious to get Kafka in a more expanded role and get EB out...bring Nagy back as a senior offensive advisor.

suzzer99 01-28-2022 01:00 AM

I've been watching football since '77 and this beats any game I've ever seen. The hype, the buildup, and then the game exceeded it beyond anyone's wildest imagination. They'll still be talking about this game when most of us are dead.

Oh I thought you meant historically across the NFL.

Chiefs wins are hard because nothing will ever feel as good as that first Superbowl (for me). All the angst and trauma from 40 years of being a Chiefs fan just drained out of me like pulling a plug in the bathtub. This game is definitely second.

Hammock Parties 01-28-2022 01:24 AM

Id like to see a breakdown of other QBs who had 400+ total yards and 4 TD each with no turnovers...see if this really is the GOAT game.

It's the best one until the next one.

CupidStunt 01-28-2022 05:27 AM

Objectively, the stakes of the game, the quality of combined QB play from start to finish, the quality of play and drama from start to finish, with that ending - it's the best game in NFL history and isn't going to be topped for a long time.

It definitely wasn't my personal favorite, though. At least in real time, and at the end. I can get behind the Titans AFCCG. After that fluke start, we stepped up and delivered after years of heartache. It never felt in doubt or too stressful. You could sense we would conquer the moment. But it wasn't so much of a blowout that the game lost all intrigue, and huge plays in the 4th (Watkins) were enough to make me go crazy.

redfan 01-28-2022 07:45 AM

1. Wasp - SB above all
2. 24-0 - A comeback for the ages
3. 13 seconds - Unreal to see
4. MNF v Den - Montana to Willie Davis ftw
5. The game that was supposed to be in Mexico City V Rams - An all-time shootout

If we go all the way, 13 secs gets bumped up to two. (Depending on how the games play out, might be another all timer in there)

PAChiefsGuy 01-28-2022 10:09 AM

There is no way in hell I am putting that divisional round win against the Bills game over a SB victory. As exciting as it was, shit defense was played on both sides.

Game against the 49ers is my favorite by far!

htismaqe 01-28-2022 10:10 AM

For me, it's the Super Bowl victory and then this game. Nothing else is really close IMO.

O.city 01-28-2022 10:29 AM

I've never watched a Chiefs game like it.

But being a STL Cardinals fan, it was basically game 6 of the 2011 WS.

Gary Cooper 01-28-2022 10:29 AM

Hard to answer. From an offensive standpoint, along with the Rams/Chiefs game in 2018, it's the best game you'll watch.

I prefer some semblance of defense to be played though. If both defenses are swiss cheese, it makes for exciting plays but feels too easy for the offense. I thought the 1st half was better played because both teams made a few stops. Wasn't a one-dimensional offensive dominance.

I'm talking about what I prefer in general with neutral games. I want every Chiefs game to be a 50-0 victory for my heart rate. Not last week's game.

The 2018 Rams game's last three minutes are too sloppy for me to put it over this one. It's why I hesitate to put that game even on equal footing here.

McVay-Goff and Andy-Patrick all made critical errors in that homestretch. The last two minutes of this one absolutely blows the Chiefs-Rams ending out of the water, and not just because of the outcome.

Chiefshrink 01-28-2022 12:15 PM

The fact you even have to ask the question tells me you never played the game and have no clue to what greatness looks like from a football perspective.

For me personally this is how they rank as far as drama is concerned:

1. Last week's win over Buffalo - Not only the best Chiefs game EVER BUT the best EVER NFL game of "Dueling QBs" if not best EVER NFL game PERIOD !!

2. Super Bowl Win 2020

3. Chiefs vs Rams - Monday Night - 54-51

4. Ed Podolak's 300plus total yds in the Xmas Day Stenerud Choke kick to send Miami to the SB.

Probably showing my age, but the best game I remember watching was the Chargers/Dolphins playoff game in the early 80’s. I was probably like 8 or 9 years old when that game was played, but still one of my all time favorites.

There's a 1000% better chance bill has played football than you holding any sort of advanced degree.

So we've got that going for us.

A8bil 01-29-2022 01:24 AM

Having attended the 49er - Cowboy game where the "Catch" happened, and at the Big Game where the "the Play" happened, I would say the Chiefs' and Bills game doesn't compare...but only by small measures. Truly the best quarterbacking I've seen in a game. The stakes were big, but not the highest. There wasn't a shocking surprise like the Play, nor was a franchise launched like the Catch...the Chiefs are already there...but for pure excellent play from offensive geniuses, it was the best I've seen over 5 decades. Very high expectations were not only met....they were exceeded by a large measure.
