Safe to say the was Honey Badgers last game as a Chief. .

His play has really gone down the last couple of weeks..hes not really an impact player he was the past few season...as much as he is a great locker room guy and a leader I dont think the Chiefs can validate paying him what he is going to want. .

lets hope they make somethign work:

Time for a youth movement IMO. Instead of trading draft picks for vets, I hope we use them to rebuild in several key areas once some of the salary cap fat is trimmed this off-season.

Coochie liquor 01-30-2022 06:43 PM

Yep, **** HB. Ready for him, and Clark to be gone. Clark gets flushed out of most plays. We played against a depleted OL and came up short. Defense needs some fresh blood. Need to get HB off this roster. He’s a distraction to the team. Good luck getting paid in the offseason, when you’ve put shit play on tape the last few games.

Rainbarrel 01-30-2022 06:43 PM

Getting old is not the way to go. Too many Snickers, need the hungry

Gary Cooper 01-30-2022 06:45 PM

He was great in 2019. We don't win the SB without him. He's gotten worse each year since. He's in his 30s now. Unless he takes Sorensen's salary, we can bring him back. Otherwise, they need to move on.

Munson 01-30-2022 06:45 PM

I'm ok with it.

He lost his swagger.

kcpasco 01-30-2022 06:46 PM

Don’t care. He was responsible for that embarrassing loss.

Megatron96 01-30-2022 06:50 PM

If CP had any brains we'd hope Veach finds a way to keep him. It's definitely not like top-tier safeties grow on trees or some shit. And we've seen what the secondary looks like without him. Thornhill is not ready to take the reins. Not yet anyway.

There’s younger, more hungry, less dramatic safeties available this off season. **** HB.

wazu 01-30-2022 07:08 PM

Yeah, his play dropped off this year. Didn't help he decided to shit on the fans. I'll forgive that since he was a big part in our championship season, but I think his football career is better going elsewhere from here.

siberian khatru 01-30-2022 07:12 PM

Did he make an impact play after the INT vs the Ravens in Game 2 of the season?

Great question. I can’t think of any.

DTVietnam 01-30-2022 07:21 PM

I still think he helps us and of course I want him to retire a chief..just not sure I see both sides agreeing to a deal..hopefully something can be worked out

wazu 01-30-2022 07:22 PM

Part of me wonders if Honey Badger "business decisioned" himself into a much smaller contract next year.

fan4ever 01-30-2022 07:25 PM

He was pretty good at pointing at other players after broken plays.

Let's not get carried away. He had a few fumble recoveries and tipped INTs throughout the season.

But, yeah, for a guy playing for his next big payday, he disappeared for basically the last month or so.

I made a comment to my gf in the 4th about him being invisible and she was like "Oh... I didn't even know he was playing today".

MahomesKnows 01-30-2022 07:35 PM

I'd move on. This is a good time to make a switch. Lots of good young safeties on the market this off-season.

Dayze 01-30-2022 07:38 PM

I'll take someone who tackles.

time to move on.

If we're going to pay a safety big money, let it be Marcus Williams.

A Salt Weapon 01-30-2022 07:48 PM

HB was one of my favorite additions to the team. I’m over it now, he had an opportunity to light burrow the **** up today, he chose not to. A chance to enact revenge on the bengals for cheap shotting Trent Green and ending his career and our hopes to be relevant in the mid 2000s. He chose to not let us walk into the Super Bowl today. Regardless of everything else that happened, that one play would have guaranteed victory. He chose to lose.

The question still stands…
Can’t think of a meaningful impact play that he made that helped the team into and in the playoffs.
The first couple of years here he was the unquestioned leader. He has disappeared recently.

TomBarndtsTwin 01-30-2022 08:02 PM

Yup.

HB will be gone. Frank released. Ward probably gone too. Chiefs won’t want to pay him what he can get on the open market. Remake the defense.

Get younger. Spend ALL the draft picks on Defense! Sign a #2 WR (Allen Robinson, anyone?) and call it good.

He quits on half of the plays he's involved in. We missed his leadership last week, but we don't need a safety who doesn't want to hit someone.

Iconic 01-30-2022 09:08 PM

Yeah I'd be okay with a fair deal for Matheiu but Clark can **** right off. There's no sentimental card that ****wad can play that will keep him here.

emaw1979 01-30-2022 10:17 PM

He was pretty bad or invisible this year especially compared to his first two years. He also seemed to shy away from contact more this year. He'd need to take a significant paycut IMO to remain a Chief. I like the guy but the Chiefs need to get hungry again and they need to turn over the roster for that.

kcpasco 01-30-2022 10:17 PM

Don’t care.

TomBarndtsTwin 01-30-2022 10:20 PM

Was invisible today as was Frank Clark.

Pitt Gorilla 01-30-2022 10:22 PM

I like HB, but he's not worth keeping. Put the money toward Ward, etc.

Valiant 01-30-2022 10:23 PM

Even at around vet minimum I don't want him.

Get some guys drafted. Him and Sorenson we're Mia on most plays they could help impact.

Every deep ball they were never there. What is the purpose of if they both are back?

If frank doesn’t go I lose all hope in humanity. He doesn’t do anything. And even when he did it was 2 years ago. And even 2 years ago it wasn’t much lol.

FloridaMan88 01-30-2022 10:30 PM

Tyrann should take out his season’s worth of frustration and throw Sorensen off a bridge on his way out.

I'm glad you guys finally realized he's a liability. I said this weeks ago and everyone said I was crazy.

rabblerouser 01-31-2022 01:14 AM

Some team will overpay for him.

Last time we gave an aging safety a big contract based on sentimentality, it was a giant mistake that probably (eventually) cost our DC and definitely our GM his job (for opposing it)...and I think it cost us the chance at the first Super Bowl of the Mahomes era.

If we hadn't have paid Berry (and gone into 2018 relying on him to actually play instead of wasting a roster spot for the entire year) we could've prepared and had a real safety...

I would say he was a lot better in 2020 than 2019 but fell off in 2021.

Bump 01-31-2022 01:44 AM

he did some good things here, but there's no real reason to give him some giant contract and from his tweets it sounds like he wants to be overpaid.

And it was a bad one for him. All any other team his to do is watch him over the last 6-8 games (not counting the Bills game) and judge if he's worth what he's asking. I'll keep him for less money than he's making now and for a 2-3 year deal. I made a comment in another thread about our secondary looking like the Keystone Cops without him, but you have to think there's a younger guy out there that could do the same thing.

When is he ever not emotional?

I've been as big of a "get the **** out of town HB" guy as anyone this season, but tonight it wasn't on him. He actually tackled first from the plays I saw that he was in position to make as the first defender. All year he had been laying up and throwing his hands up in the air or trying to strip the ball as the runner got another 10 yards while some other Chiefs player had to come in and make the tackle.

That being said, I'm still in the bye bye Mathieu crowd. He clearly lost a step. Fewest INTs as a Chief. Fewest PDs as a Chief. Went from a 59 and 60 passer rating against in his first 2 years to 88. And even though he had his most tackles this year, I can't for the life of me understand where they came from because he didn't seem to want to lay someone out all year.

Thanks for 2019, HB, but your time has come. You aren't worth the money you were crying about on twitter all year long. I'd take you as Sorensen's replacement if you want Sorensen's salary too.

dannybcaitlyn 01-31-2022 08:09 AM

I’m with Meck on this one. If I’m spending this kinda of money I’m going after a young Marcus Williams!

When he's got the game to back up the bullshit, it makes sense. There were too many times when plays ended at his feet as he stood there watching, or just didn't have enough lead in his pencil to finish a tackle. He may have won the Walter Payton Man of the Year, but hopefully he won a one way ticket out of KC too.

I don't think we win the Buffalo game if he stays in the game. Just my opinion.
