Mahomes' Confidence?
It's been baffling to see him have confidence issues this season. For the last three seasons he has been rock steady in his on field presence. Nothing seemed to phase him or shake him. This season has been the opposite. During the early season struggles you could watch him lose his confidence when those dropped/tipped passes turned into interceptions. He became indecisive and unsure after that. I don't know if all of those interceptions and the two deep safety looks caused his confidence to drop or if they were just a trigger for something else that was going on with him. Either way it was obvious that he was struggling with his confidence. He even acknowledged in one post game interview that he saw players open and wasn't sure why he didn't throw the ball to them. It seemed like he mostly overcame those issues throughout the season but there were times you could see the indecisiveness sneak back in there. Especially the second half yesterday. It's obvious it's still an issue at times. It's strange that it just started happening this year. I don't know if it's something in his personal life or something football related but at times he just looks uncertain about everything. I'm sure he'll figure it out, but it's a little concerning that it's never been an issue for him.

I can picture the scene in "The Last Boyscout" where the guy threatens the star player to throw the game at halftime.
Maybe Brittney and Jackson were being threatened and at halftime Pat had to make a choice... At least he didn't go out with a pistol... "Ain't life a bitch?" Ok that was a bit too far, but I still don't understand how you can be the REAPER and then just run around in circles like a clown. |
Maybe his Hashtag Challenge with Jackson only got 10s of 10s reviews and it bummed him at half?
|
It was like after the last play of the first half, he realized how bad he ****ed up and was just like "oh no, not this again. Not now."
And then just let it dominate his thoughts the entire second half. He may need to see a sports psychiatrist if he isn't already. He simply can't allow himself to get rattled as easily as he did at times this season. |
Four years as a starter going to four straight AFCCGs. Pulling shit out if his ass. Superman is comic book character, not real life. He bleeds too
|
Every star quarterback has had an outing like this.
He'll keep firing. He'll be fine. |

It's early yet, but I feel confident this will be the dumbest thing I read all day. |

He needs to marry the mother of his child.
Get his house in order. |

He's ****ing human and apparently, only now, are some of you learning this. I wish it hadn't showed up in the AFCCG but shit happens. He needed some of his teammates to step up and bail him out yesterday and it didn't happen.

JFC… One week he’s the Grim Reaper then the next he’s a head case.. Come on… He has nothing to prove to me.. Apparently he still has to other dumbasses…

They seemed intimidated by the Bengals D once things started to go south. Like they just were playing to not make mistakes, timid, scared of getting hit and running - instead of trying to score and not panicking.
Reid teams on offense get too soft sometimes. Chiefs desperatel y need a bruising RB like Hunt |

Pieces were in place. |
It's certainly odd that he can have ice water in his veins and methodically rip a team's heart out one week, and then appear to completely mentally collapse after one bad series before halftime the following week.
It would be easy to pass it off as him just having a bad game, but we were seeing the same thing earlier this season as well. |
LMAO
There are legitimate strategic football reasons as to why the Chiefs lost yesterday. None of this "lost confidence" or "Reid's teams are soft" nonsense has anything to do with it. |

Reid constantly lets off the gas in games and then teams take advantage and climb right back into something they have no business being in. Even if he's not calling traditional runs he'll start throwing out a bunch of pass plays that are just glorified run plays that really have no intention of picking up first downs and the team starts going 3 and out over and over out of nowhere. He doesn't have that "if you dont like it then stop it" mentality. |
Mahomes was just afraid of what his baby mama and dipshit brother would do to embarrass him if he pulled off the Dub.
Ironicially from post 1, I said during the game it seemed like Vegas called to tell him they had people duct taped until he threw the game. |
The playcalling on the final series of regulation was just horrific. Like, how hard is it to just hand the ball off to eat their last timeout, hand off again to move the clock, and then get into your scoring mode?
It was literally all qb scrambles, a huge yardage loss and a near lost fumble. Two handoffs you gain yards there at the very least. It was just bizarre. |
Reid chokes in the playoffs.
It is what it is. He's a great regular season coach. Yesterday was his 3rd 18+ point lead he's blown in the playoffs with the Chiefs. |
I don’t think mahomes lacked confidence. What was stunning is his lack of leadership and emotion. It was very uncharacteristic for mahomes. I see it as a one time deal but man, itd be easy if some scrub played like shit. His whole performance just cannot be explained.

What I want to know is why Mahomes can't just throw the ball away. There were half a dozen times drives could have continued if he'd just throw it away and go to the next play.
The whole team played like their girlfriend broke up with them at halftime. |

The front office needs to focus on guys who can let tyreek be tyreek which lets mahomes be mahomes. This offense lost their swagger. |
Here, I will just drop the ball and you take it after the sack.

There is blame to go around for sure. Part of the problem, is the D didn't step up and get stops when we needed them in the second half. No one really stepped up and got open in the passing game. OL sucked in the second. Our entire fate always rests on Mahomes saving everyone else's a**. I feel like that's a little different than say Brady, who seems to demand/elevate everyone else around him. Brady had plenty of games where he didn't look that great, but there were often other players that stepped up and held them together until they found a way to win. My problem with Reid is we always have these crazy games where we totally blow one half and look amazing in the other. Starting fast and scoring 2 or 3 TD's in the first 15 play script, and then choking away a lead is a pattern. But comparing Reid and Mahomes to Brady/Belichick is probably a very unfair standard to compare them to. |
