Brian Flores says Fins owner offered $$ to throw games

https://www.sportscasting.com/brian-...osive-lawsuit/

Quote:

“In January 2022, Mr. Flores, who spent three years as the Head Coach of Defendant Miami Dolphins, Ltd. (the ‘Dolphins’ or ‘Miami’), found himself without a job. He was fired by the Dolphins after leading the team to its first back-to-back winning seasons since 2003. The purported basis for his termination was alleged poor collaboration. In reality, the writing had been on the wall since Mr. Flores’ first season as Head Coach of the Dolphins, when he refused his owner’s directive to ‘tank’ for the first pick in the draft. Indeed, during the 2019 season, Miami’s owner, Stephen Ross, told Mr. Flores that he would pay him $100,000 for every loss, and the team’s General Manager, Chris Grier, told Mr. Flores that ‘Steve’ was ‘mad’ that Mr. Flores’ success in winning games that year was ‘compromising [the team’s] draft position.'”
So, I pretty much guarantee that Ross did that, but that the discussions were private and not recorded, and there's no paperwork...but Flores would almost have to have some kind of proof to come out and say that in a lawsuit, right?

Someone should of offered our coaches money so they wouldn’t of thrown the game.

I think the NFL gave Reid orders to stand down, and that was the source of friction between Reid and Mahomes. Mahomes was pissed, and he's proud. So that's why he played like Keystone Kops in the 2nd half. As a giant FU.

At least we do know that orders for rigging games in Miami go through Stephen Ross.

I'd sure love to hear the conversation between The Clarks and Goodell early Sunday...

I mean, you're not wrong...but it's hard to compete with NFL money.

Pasta Little Brioni 02-02-2022 07:45 AM

Of course nobody is talking about this and it's all about the race angle. Absolutely pathetic

Well, race is pushed as the major concern in this country.

When are we getting our picks for Ryan?

Nothing in the OP indicated any involvement by the NFL. It was a team plan to tank for the #1 pick. Not rigging games for the nfl.

Aren’t the Dolphins a team in the NFL? Welp, that’s probably pretty much considered NFL.

Shields68 02-02-2022 08:46 AM

Good chance his only proof is his testimony but if the owner was this fired up about losing to get high pick...there would be a lot of people in the know. But he said a lot of sensational things which I doubt there is anything but his testimony. The Broncos interview is one.

LMAO good grief dude just stop watching football.

I bet on the flip side you think wrestling is real.

wazu 02-02-2022 08:53 AM

Seems like such a weird time to want to "tank". You already at least hope you have your QB. The team had a winning record last two years. Sounds like the owner wanted to get Brady relatively recently which isn't exactly a rebuild plan. Stephen Ross just sounds like a massive moron. So much so I wouldn't be surprised if he actually did put this in writing or say it to others who can confirm.

Supposedly the Broncos have a rather large file of notes and data from their interview with Flores that would point to him being full of shit.

Reerun_KC 02-02-2022 08:54 AM

So owners paying coaches to tank games.

Wow.

Flores goes on to state that he didn't think Miami was a good fit for Brady considering they were in the middle of rebuild mode. Didn't really say he had an issue with talking to him even though it could have been tampering, he didn't think it was good fit for Tom.

I noticed that the Broncos response did not address the allegations, though. They responded that there were several people in the interview and it started on time and they had notes. They did not state that elway and Ellis were there on time or that they were not disheveled and hungover.

Based on the Broncos' response, it is quite possible that the interview did start on time with the underlings who were prompt, and then Elway and Ellis staggered in late.

What kind of mental gymnastics does it take to think an owner offering a HC money to lose games is evidence that the NFL rigs games? It's actually the complete opposite.

Hell, you think if the games were rigged, then Flores would have said so.

Is that why he tied the ****ing game and dove for extra yardage on our possession to go to TO?

i feel like we should talk about where they would be if he had tanked..

At will. Amazing how the entire offense looked lost in the 2nd half, with Reid having Mahomes fire away into 8 deep shells....

I mean, the result pretty much shut everyone up about the OT rules, didn't it?

If we go down and score in OT, everyone bitches.

But Tyreek does his best Darrell Revis and bats the ****ing ball right to a goddamn Bengal...

BWillie 02-02-2022 11:20 AM

You mean to tell me you guys think the Jets were trying? We're we trying back in 08 with Tyler Thigpen?

This should be the expected result if draft pick position is correlated with wins and losses. Perhaps the NFL should consider NOT giving the worst team the #1 draft pick.

All 1-32 teams put in a lottery of equal value without regard to wins or losses in prior season.

If an owner offers his or her coach money to throw games they could bet the other way against their team and win more money over and over again. Similar to fixing stock prices, etc. Unethical business behavior rules that should be enforced to ensure a fair game and people not gaming the system based on their socioeconomic standing or job role.

Yes, and Reek didn’t tip the ball, the defender behind him did. It was fairly obvious when the play was live and confirmed in the replays. Why, no, HOW people are still blaming Hill for that pick is completely baffling to me.

Pasta Little Brioni 02-02-2022 11:44 AM

Proof that an owner tried to rig games and yet there's no way other games haven't been compromised...goid God some of you have your head stuck up your ass on how big a deal this is. Who else has been bribed to get a result? Officials? Players?

That play was kind of unlucky to be honest. Cinci had great coverage everywhere, and Mahomes really threw a great ball, Reek was in position but the DB just made a play.

This is what I mean when being results oriented. That play in a vacuum was fine. It was the plays at the end of the game, and in the 2nd half that were horrible.

They want to lose to get draft picks and the next Patrick Mahomes. Not bet on football.

You think a billionaire cares about making a million in gambling by rigging the game?

An owner with gambling site ties....don't be an idiot. Regardless it was bribery to attempt to steer a game towards a certain result. Things many people on this board said take place and this would be proof of it happening.

Yeah, it's those last 5 plays, taken in context, that are just so damming:

1. sack
2. Sack and fumble
3. incomplete pass
4. almost picked
5. Picked

I mean...godDAMN that's ****ing worse than Matt Cassel.

It has little to do with gambling. It's more about bribery to steer a game a certain way. How many officials have been compromised? Look at how many disastrous officiated games there have been over the years. Completely one sided calls.

The ****ing Safety batted the ball to the other defender. It was a great play by the Safety. Go watch the replay.

Kick the FG at the end of the 1st half, come out running at the beginning of the 2nd half, run some time off the clock, kick another FG at MINIMUM and we win.

That.

****ing.

Simple.

It's not about that ONE play, so much as Patrick's 4 previous plays before it that lead up to that...
