F'D up things you see on the news

Dateline Commerce City Colorado..............

5 dead in an apartment. No signs of violence (guns n shit).
2 survivors one infant one adult.
Curious "substance" found in apartment.

Commerce City is so weird it is like back in the day when you would make a Sim City and right outside of that city you would put a stadium and a bunch of industruial stuff in its own spot.

I largely avoid live news. I don't see any need to dwell on every horrible thing that happens in the world.

The wife and I have not watched or listened to a news broadcast in over 17 years. The funny thing is, we still learn of the important things and don't get fixated on all the bad around us. It seemed hard and odd at first, now I can't imagine wasting my time on it.

Russia has their army poised to invade the Ukraine just so you'll know something that's going on in the news.

Canada is under martial law.
Truckers are now, home grown terrorists.

I haven't watched the whole local news in decades. I'll watch the weather portion for the snow/ice forecast in Missouri or hurricane paths down here.
Since it is Florida, there should be enough stories on the local news to fill gblowfishs Florida thread with material for decades.

We had a gentleman walking down the street naked yesterday.

Funny to see the reactions of adults.
Some people really wanna look.

I'm the same. I turn on the news at 5 every morning to see the weather then shut the shit off.

That's prolly a good thing, considering someone gets shot out there almost every week.

In other news, the NCAA allowed a man who tucks between his legs and grew his hair out to compete in a women's championship event over the weekend and, shockingly, he dominated the event.

All MSM is garbage now, suggest you get off social media too….

Are you referring to Denver? If so, that's an odd take. Denver's about average for major cities in terms of murder rates, while KC is #6 in the nation.

You say that like it's a good thing.

Denver is more violent than it used to be. That's the point.

I don't live in Kansas City.

Than it used to be last year? Yes. Than it used to be in the late 80’s and 90’s? Absolutely not. They are like most of the country and have much smaller violent crime rates than the early 90’s. It’s just amplified nowadays because people are walking around with thousands of news sources on demand at their finger tips instead of just catching it on the daily news back then. The world isn’t changing to be this crazy mad house nowadays. It’s just changing how much of it we can see.

Yes - this is talked everywhere including Olympic coverage. See, I told you, big things somehow get communicated. Stop wasting your time with the news (unless it’s Huey Lewis and the News).

I only click on cnn then fox and read the headlines and then I am done for the day, I am really afraid someday a giant meteor will be bearing down on earth which will end all of mankind and I won’t know about it. Mom always said I should have clean underwear on in case I get in an accident and I want time to change.

This was in the San Diego paper today.

Bizarre fatal accident in Rancho Bernardo causes six-car crash.

RANCHO BERNARDO — A man who was possibly using a knife while driving Sunday morning died when he struck a parked car and stabbed himself. The accident caused a chain-reaction crash involving five other cars, according to police and wire reports.
At 5:24 a.m. Sunday, a 28-year-old man driving a 2000 Lexus eastbound on Rancho Bernardo Road, just east of Acena Drive, veered to the right for an unknown reason and struck a parked vehicle. The impact deployed the car’s airbag. The driver was transported to a local hospital where he died, according to San Diego Police.

OnScene TV also reported Sunday that San Diego Fire officials who arrived at the scene found a heavy amount of blood inside the car, a knife and protein powder spread throughout the vehicle. At the hospital, a stab wound was found in the victim’s neck.

Officials suspect the man may have been using the knife to mix protein powder into a container of water when he became distracted and crashed. When the car’s airbag deployed, it may have propelled the knife into the man’s neck, according to TV.

There was no report of other injuries in the five other cars that were damaged as a result of the crash.
