Woohooo! Looking forward to getting this party started!
|
Guess I gotta build a draft board soon...
|
Quote:
I know OT is the consensus pick for the Jags, but ****ing YUCK. It’s reminds me of the Chiefs and Eric Fisher. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
So yeah, I'd rather be where I am than where you are. Tough tough year to have #1 overall but it does seem that with the QB in place, OT is at least the most straightforward approach. You ARE gonna get the chiefs hoosier handclap gif when you do it, though. |
Quote:
|
I'd take Hutchinson number one and never look back if I'm the jags.
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
But then again, Evan Neal might be an All-Pro caliber guy in his own right. And Kyle Hamilton is a unicorn but you just can't take a safety 1.1 no matter how good he is. Not when you're the Jags and could use help at DE and OT. |
Quote:
Quote:
In a very weak draft at the top, it makes sense to just take the best and safest player available. I also think Hutchinson compliments Allen VERY well. |
Quote:
|
Draft starts tomorrow fellas!
|
Ready to **** up and ruin the draft for everybody
|
Over under on how many picks we make before someone selects a player that’s already drafted?
No Direcshun so I think we will make it to the middle of the 5th round. |
Quote:
|
I might be busy later, and I already know my pick, so I’m just going to make it now.
The Jacksonville Jaguars select Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan I know that the consensus is OT here, but the Jaguars have a need at EDGE opposite of Josh Allen, and I’m not going to pass up the #1 player on my board. Hutchinson showed Saturday at the combine that he is a much better athlete than given credit for. He also compliments Allen perfectly. |
Quote:
|
Also, since free agency hasn’t started, my plan would be to re-sign Cam Robinson which makes this an even easier decision.
For all the talk about the Jags OL, they really weren’t even that bad last year. No reason to let Robinson walk only to replace him with the #1 overall pick. |
FFS Chiefscafan.....it's been 20 minutes.
|
Quote:
|
I have a few guys for the Chiefs that I think you all might not like
|
Quote:
Looking forward to it. |
Quote:
Treylon Burks isn't very good and Drake London is too damn big. Though I think both probably go before you. I wouldn't be too irritated by Olave but I'm thinking there's a real good chance he ALSO goes before you in this draft. |
I would have took Neal and made sure Sunshine is protected for the next decade. But I can see why to do Hutchinson.
|
Is Chiefsacan the dude who takes 2 days to make a pick usually?
|
Quote:
|
I'm not the mayock and gruden though so they're not long shots
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
I think Jets and Burks makes sense since their system could maximize his potential but I would do it by trading down. |
Quote:
Maybe if it netted me a 1st next year. But I think there's a chance they're passing on 2 or 3 real All Pro caliber DL there. |
I am starting to get a bit concerned after this damn combine, though. Some of the guys we expected to look good have been adjusted accordingly on the mock draft simulators and suddenly I'm looking at draft boards at 30 where our 'well they can't ALL go in the first' predictions are put to the test.
I'm sorry ya'll, I just cannot talk myself into Mafe or Ebiketie in the 1st. Or Hall or Paschal. And I'm not sure someone like Enagbare trips my trigger in the 3rd. I'm not sure how to work Drake Jackson into a 4-3. Oof - that'd be a Chris Olave draft for me. And if nobody jumps at these QBs (Pickett, most notably) then Olave could be off the board. Then what? McCreary? Brisker? Shit - my 'this draft board cannot possibly be picked clean by the time we're up' theory appears to be falling through on me. |
That’s exactly why I haven’t been “EDGE or bust” in the 1st.
BPA was always likely to be a WR or DB IMO. Draft one of those guys, and then trade up for Thomas, Ebiketie, or Mafe. |
Quote:
All these 'great' CB prospects we start talking up at 25+ ain't that great or they'd be top 15 guys. And CB is a corner that's pretty easy to see on tape. And for guys that are true diamonds in the rough like Sneed, those can be had in the 3rd or 4th. I just hate last 1st DBs. And the math may say I'm absolutely wrong there, but I just feel like they have awful success rates. I'd just take Thomas in the 1st and be done with it if he were there. On my recent hell board mock, he wasn't. He went at 26 with Leal coming off at 28. Then I pooped a little. |
I’m fine with a safety in the first if he’s BPA at that point.
|
Plus you have to factor that there are going to be 3-4 teams that just completely **** up and draft someone stupid that no one saw coming. There aren’t 32 competent GMs out there.
|
Quote:
I mean, those two don’t even have him in their top 50, and you’ll have a hard time finding guys more plugged in than those guys. |
Quote:
You go safety in the first, you're gonna have to take some aggressive boom/bust swings in the 2nd and 3rd to get the kind of talent at key positions on this roster that we'd need to move the needle. A 1st round safety is setting yourself up for a 'floor over ceiling' draft and a whole lot of 'meh' picks. With Ward's market seeming rather robust, I'd rather go Kaiir Elam or McCreary in the 1st and at least try to get some real high-end athleticism at CB. |
The Detroit Lions select , Jordan Davis, DT , Georgia
Once in a generation player and way too much talent to pass up. Detroit not sure not sure if he fits the system but a player like this you make the system put him. |
The Detroit Lions select , Jordan Davis, DT , Georgia
|
I was very curious what Detroit would do in this situation. OT isn’t an option. This is probably still too early for Thibodeaux considering the concerns there.
I actually think this is an intriguing pivot from Hutchinson, even if it’s unlikely. |
Billay is on the cock……
I mean clock. |
The pick here would be Neal if I knew that Tunsil was getting traded but....
The Houston Texans Select- Kayvon Thibodeaux, DE, Oregon |
The draft wasn’t officially supposed to start until now and we already have the first 3 picks in.
Great start. |
Honestly I’m an Alabama fan and have watched a lot of plays of Jordan Davis. I think he’s a game changer like Arron Donald. Maybe too early for him but after Jags picked Hutchinson the hometown boy we had to pivot. I’m not sold on the kid from Oregon or any of the OT. So I went by who I think are the top five players regardless of position.
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
And it actually makes sense considering the Lions are a team that is building their team inside out. Sewell and Davis are a great duo on both sides on the ball to set the tone for the future. |
Jets GM sprints to the board and selects Evan Neal, OT - Alabama.
Because…duh. |
Yea, easy choice there. Had to be one of the top 2 OTs.
|
Quote:
|
You guys are lining this up perfectly for me to **** up at #11.
|
Quote:
The Lions took Alim McNeill in the 3rd last year and he developed into a stud by the season's end. He's a lock on the nose and can't slide out either. It would be a huge waste of a pick. |
Quote:
I don’t really see them going that direction 2 years in a row. Trade down is probably the best outcome in that situation. |
With the 5th pick in the 2022 NFL draft, THE New York Giants select Ikem Ekwonu, Tackle, North Carolina State.
With new coach Brian Daboll the plan is to instantly transform the offense. This improves 2 OL positions as Andrew Thomas moves to right tackle while Ekwonu is how you draw up your prototypical blind side protector. |
Actually, if you can’t trade down, Kyle Hamilton would’ve probably been my pick for the Lions in that scenario.
|
The Carolina Panthers select Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame
I am not a fan of any of the qbs in this draft so im taking the best player available. |
Quote:
|
Hamilton is a freak.
|
Quote:
|
With the 7th pick in the 2022 NFL draft, The New York Giants select Malik Willis, QB, Liberty.
Daboll lands his franchise tackle, then gets his pick of QB to replace Daniel Jones. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FslFOhRfXR0" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I hates you. Just sayin. :D
|
I wasn’t expecting that, but I can dig it.
Willis is the only QB worth taking high IMO. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
|
Quote:
I expected he could go at 6 or 8, so I guess split the difference. |
Quote:
|
Quote:
But Decker is 29 and has a cap hit for an acquiring team of about $14 million/yr. For a solid LT that's a bargain. I have to think they could get him moved for something like a 2nd rounder. So you're sitting at that point on 2 bookend OTs making very little money for the next 5 years. You're cap neutral for 2022 but about $17 million ahead in 23 and 24. And with Campbell being something of a mongoloid, the pure power that line has on it would allow him to be every big the mauler on offense he'd like to be. Sure, if you could trade down, it's worth considering. But if I'm Detroit I can't take Hamilton (who's probably the safest pick in the draft) at 2 - not taking a safety there, sorry. Thibodeaux just has some motor issues I'm not terribly fond of. I love Walker but at 2? As green as he is? Davis is a horse but prior to the combine we're looking at him sliding to the teens/early 20s because he has no pass rush moves. The athletic ability was never in question - it was technique. So why should the underwear Olympics move him up 15-20 spots? Stingley's Lis Franc would worry me there and frankly they HAD an All Pro Caliber CB and traded him because when you're that bad, it just isn't a position that becomes a force multiplier. So... I think I just go with the guy I think has the most ability and for me that's Neal. |

Now Hamilton's a different cat in how he does things than Adams, so he CAN elevate other parts of the defense - easily a defensible pick for the Panthers. Just couldn't talk myself into him at 4 for the Jets. |

I think Pickett is in play around 12-15. Because even if all he ever becomes is someone like Derek Carr, that's absolutely worth a mid-first and 4 years of adequate QB play at a discount rate. |

Washington is the first spot I can see a guy like Pickett or Corral. I don’t know if Pickett goes that high with those tiny hands though. |

I just feel like he's a 3rd round pick in an ordinary QB year. There just isn't much 'there' there. Feels like a poor man's Baker Mayfield on his best days. |
I was going to take Willis at #11 if he was there.

Why do I only have 1 team?

That was the team you swapped with BossChief because he wanted the Falcons again. You still have 2. |

Oh c'mon BossReach, get your ass in here and take Treylon Burks.
