I respect your position but I'm gonna wait to hear from ChiefsFan1234567 before making my mind up on this player :D

ThyKingdomCome15 03-10-2022 06:14 PM

Let's bring him in for a look.

chiefforlife 03-10-2022 06:15 PM

Get him Veach. Exactly the kind of move Mr. Veach loves and I love that he loves these moves!

Guy was NOT guilty. Good enough for me. Should he pay more than he already has for being NOT guilty?

tyecopeland 03-10-2022 06:22 PM

Wasn't Baker a 1st round pick too who was available because of legal reasons?

When was the last high round pick we got off the scrap pile that actually turned into anything useful?

Do they have to be a 1st rounder?

Emmanuel Ogbah is a perfect example of a reclamation project that worked out. Of course they aren’t going to work out most of the time. That doesn’t mean you should stop trying. They’re all low risk high reward moves.

Titty Meat 03-10-2022 06:24 PM

Sign him

The Franchise 03-10-2022 06:26 PM

I didn’t watch this guy after he was drafted by the Vikings. Was he actually any good?

I think he had an up and down rookie season IIRC, but that’s pretty common at that position.

Taco was a viable rotation player as well.

Hughes, for one game, was the best corner in the NFL. So that was neat.

The Franchise 03-10-2022 06:35 PM

Ehhh **** it. Bring him in at this point. We’re going to need all the help we can get.

Spend a 1st round pick on Roger McCreary or sign this piece of shit with the same raw talent off the scrap heap?

I mean why not? The national media still holds Hunt against us and I guess Mike Florio quit sportswriting or some shit because Tyreek Hill broke his sons arm.

**** it - wear the black hat. I’m over taking bullets for this crap.

Yep. 80% of the league hates us anyways. Might as well lean into that whole “bad guy” thing.

Who SUCKED.

I would have had no real problem with the fact that he’s going to kill someone some day if he want a truly god awful football player.

Gladney might actually be good. He might suck, sure. But we’re don’t know that yet.

Gladney vs Arnette is a no-brainer.

dlphg9 03-10-2022 07:03 PM

Teams need to stop jumping the gun and let the legal process take place. Vikings lost a 1st round draft pick for nothing. Idiots lol

BryanBusby 03-10-2022 07:17 PM

Sign this not guilty piece of shit right now Kent Beach!!!!!!!!

Bert probably just hung up the phone with his agent. Would be shocked if he is not a chief by tomorrow. I wanted him badly the year he got drafted.

I kinda expect him to sign with us. Chance to start/play major time…winning team…top notch coaches….great young team…has a history of coaching up CBS.

He would be a fool to not sign with KC if we have any interest.

NFL teams are also a multi dollar business with tons of advertising and other things that hurt the business side when they get bad press. So, I understand why teams do it. These are employees.

The reason Veach/Andy buy more lottery tickets than anyone is because they have a rep for winning (the ultimate medicine) and helping troubled players (going back to Philly for Andy. Ie Mike Vick)

I expect them to sign Gladney. Makes too much sense not to.

I’m sure Veach had/has a very high grade on him. No brainer to sign him, at this point. For both sides, it makes tons of sense.

InChiefsHeaven 03-10-2022 08:12 PM

Not Guilty...so what's the problem? Sign this dude...it can't hurt. You can always have clauses in the contract and cut him if he sucks.

Yeah, I just want to know about the first rounders that have busted elsewhere and then panned out. And not just with the Chiefs either really.

I can name several chiefs who would be considered reclamation or scrap heap players who have been contributors but I can't think of very many 1st rounders who get cut then have a productive second career.

I agree with your last two sentences. I'm not saying not to bring him in for a look to kick the tires, just that expectations should be real low as should the contract amount.

Yup. There is 0 risk to signing Gladney this seems to be like a Veach special. Arnette, Baker, Hughes, etc all had some "issues" this definitely won't scare him away from Gladney. I'd have to go back and check but weren't we interested in Gladney coming out for the draft? You sign Gladney for the low, re-sign Ward, spend for your veteran safety and you arguably have a better secondary than you did last year.

I believe we did, yeah. I know we had a visit with him.

Sassy Squatch 03-10-2022 10:13 PM

Vaguely remember one of those insiders that actually did seem to have knowledge at the time suggested he would've been the pick over CEH but Minnesota got to him first. This was pretty much right after the draft had ended.

What's that matter? They get bad press and what happens?

Nothing.

It wouldn't keep people out of the stands.
It wouldn't cost them fans or money.

The Chiefs got bad press for even having Kareem Hunt. And then somehow ANOTHER round of bad press when Cleveland signed him.

And yeah, they took a TON of bad press for having/retaining Tyreek Hill. They also won a Super Bowl because they didn't do what the Vikings did.

Sometimes you just have to eat some shit and wait for the news cycle to change. The general public has the attention span of a housecat.

mabbott 03-11-2022 11:32 AM

His agent addressed this long ago. Now that he is not guilty, the Vikings should be on the hook for the whole signing bonus possibly more.

Jamele Hill or one of those Brooke Pryor people on ESPN at the time of the Jovan Belcher murder-suicide was saying Perkins died because of an organizational issue. Like it was the team's fault she got murdered.

He was found NOT guilty.

DJ's left nut 03-11-2022 02:54 PM

Baker was found not guilty with that bizarre armed robbery thing and I still think there's a pretty good chance he was involved in some gunplay but the guys that he tried to rob hired the shadiest of shady ass attorneys so their credibility was shot to hell.

I truly don't care at this point. I'm so tired of us getting crapped on even when we do the right thing that I'm inclined to just steer into the skid at this point.

It's like training a dog, really. You can't just beat the shit out of it and call it a bad dog every day, even if it IS a bad dog. Sooner or later it's just gonna decide "screw it - I'm an asshole and that's all I'll ever be" and he'll turn into a legitimate hellion.

Sometimes you've gotta pat him on his head even if you had to smack him upside it first. Make him want to try to be a good dog. Near as I can tell, there's no upshot in being a good dog these days. Forgiveness is a myth.

So just sign every talented (key problem with Arnette) sack of crap out there and when one of them actually murders someone one of these days, play contrite, take your whupin in the press, and then 3 years later start the cycle anew.

Pitt Gorilla 03-11-2022 03:09 PM

I suggested signing him when he was initially released, so I'd be more than happy to bring him in now.
