Well...I guess we were better off with the Dolphins deal. No 1st's? WTF?

mkp785 03-23-2022 11:28 AM

So maybe both 2nds and their 3rd?

Molitoth 03-23-2022 11:29 AM

I wonder how disastrous this season and next off season would have been if the Chiefs decided to block this trade and think about franchise tagging Hill.

R8RFAN 03-23-2022 11:29 AM

did Hill have a no trade clause?

We’re already at a disadvantage because other teams know we can’t pay him

That's interesting. I think Veech got the better deal. We end up with 3 more picks from a team that will likely still suck next yr

Gary Cooper 03-23-2022 11:38 AM

Like the Jets will draft anyone good with their 1st round pick. That franchise is hopeless.

Buehler445 03-23-2022 11:40 AM

LOL Nope.

Sassy Squatch 03-23-2022 11:49 AM

Honestly embarrassing that Veach agreed to that.

That would have been my move.

Hoover 03-23-2022 12:54 PM

You know when you add our 3rd round compensatory picks for Poles, we have extra 3, 4, and 6 next year too. Veach has all the tools to put together a young talented roster.

It would have been awful.

Remember when Hill refused to restructure his deal last year? Cost him nothing, would help the team. Nope. And Apparently was pissy about the Chiefs kicking the tires on JuJu. Pretty clear to me that Hill won his SB and has wanted to get paid and be a star somewhere else.

siberian khatru 03-23-2022 12:59 PM

He won't be a star. Just a rich guy on a losing team with poor stats.

Let's be honest. If the Raiders showed up tomorrow and offered me $120 million, I'd get the silver and black tattoo this afternoon. Can't blame Reek for cashing out big in the back half of his career.

I agree.

kepp 03-23-2022 01:03 PM

A huge part of the job is managing the egos of these players. FWIW, I can't blame Hill. He already has a SB ring and he's getting ready to enter the backside of his career. Now is the time to cash in. I can understand that.

Abba-Dabba 03-23-2022 01:05 PM

And that is why they are the shitty ass Jets.

Don't believe so. But no team was gonna trade for him without getting a contract done, so he essentially could pick who he wanted

That’s very close to the Dolphins. I’d like to have 5 picks in the top 70.

Right.

But we also aren’t operating in that universe.

Let’s presume he had 4/80 on the table and took the 4/120.

You’re (unfortunately) right that I haven’t ever had the opportunity to turn down 40 million. But I’ve also never had the opportunity to lock in 80 million and set myself up forever. And while setting myself up forever I get to continue to to play with the best that ever played and one of the best coaches ever.

Instead of taking 50% more to play with god ****ing Tua, in a shithole that recently got accused of Actively throwing games and let’s be real here, has no shot at winning.

I’ve never had to make the call. And I can’t pretend to enter that headspace. It’s just a different world than I’ve ever been in.

But from my podunk shitheel life that is most certainly not set, I’d have to give it some real thought.

smithandrew051 03-23-2022 01:46 PM

Getting pick 69 would have been epic imo

I think Reek got his ring, has had 6 pro bowl seasons, is still a scary ass weapon so he got paid big, gets to live in Miami so when his team sucks at least there's a beach...

...I mean, I get it...

Rainbarrel 03-23-2022 05:47 PM

The Fins get some payback for that '19 bye. Jets are the suck

Bl00dyBizkitz 03-23-2022 06:17 PM

I would've been pissed with the Jets trade. Definitely happier with the 5 picks from the Dolphins.

Yeah, me too. Deep draft manes all three days exciting.

YontsRBake 03-23-2022 08:04 PM

This is because 2nd round picks for the Jets are basically 1sts due to them being a perpetual dumpster fire.

Rainbarrel 03-23-2022 08:24 PM

I doubt Ukrane would take on the Jets to draw fire

notorious 03-23-2022 08:25 PM

The Jets are worse at trade offers than they are at football.

bevischief 03-23-2022 10:15 PM

The agents had a soft deal in place...

bevischief 03-23-2022 10:16 PM

Playing in KC, New York or Florida...

bevischief 03-23-2022 10:17 PM

And getting paid...

Chiefs did with Orlando.

Titty Meat 03-23-2022 11:02 PM

Wanted him to go to NYC just because Wilson sucks so the meltdown of a shit QB and highest paid WR struggling would have been gold

But if it's just entertainment, you can play with the best QB ever and one of the best coaches ever and still shit the bed in 2 out of 4 AFC Championship Games and correspondingly go 1-1 in Super Bowls...that's the pinnacle for non-Brady QB'ed teams in the new era.

You only get one ring if your name isn't Brady or Manning.

Look at what happened to Drew Brees in that NFC Championship Game in Jan 2019.

So, Tyreek won a SB, hit 6 straight Pro Bowls, and is probably the best WR in the league. Period.

So, honestly, he's getting an extra $40m to live in South Beach and run sprint gos and end-arounds on Sundays. Because he won't catch many passes. I'm sure he's okay with that.

I keep looking at the Deion Branch, when he was highly regarded, early in the Brady-era. Seattle traded a 1st to NE for him, gave him a stupid big contract that he was never able to even come close to living up to because they had garbage like an aging Matt Hasselbeck and Seneca Wallace at QB...so a couple injury-filled, stats-barren years later, NE got him back for a 4th rounder and restructured his contract, and his production picked right back up as his injury issues dissipated.

I could see that happening here.

Not a tough decision.

Flying High D 03-24-2022 07:23 AM

He couldn’t handle being in the locker room with that safety from Houston that knocked the crap out him.

suzzer99 03-24-2022 10:40 AM

The haul of picks from the Jets seems a lot worse imo. I get the feeling the Jets were just leverage and the Chiefs knew this, so they agreed to the trade anyway. The Jets probably knew they were leverage too and just played along to drive up the price for the Dolphins - both in picks paid to the Chiefs, and in money paid to Tyreek.

Fnbs010 03-24-2022 10:58 AM

Sorry but i dont buy this story, it feels like damage control made up to appease the angry chief fan base
