***Official 2022-2023 Missouri Tigers Men's Basketball***
Expecting big things boys!
Missouri got rid of crappy CM and the board went out and got one of the top coaches according to some in Cleveland State's Dennis Gates. In 2 days he has 2 recruits Top JUCO player 6' 10" Mohamed Diarra Transport portal DeAndre Gholston who avg 15 pts at Milwaukee over the past 2 years Very excited! |
In…..
|
Been a long time since it mattered to me like it used to, hoping for the best. I miss it.

Interested to see who his assistants will be. Was never a fan of CM but I think he might of lasted a little longer here if he wasn’t bound to the same crappy assistants he refused to move on from.
|
CDG is already putting in work getting a couple of really solid JUCO transfers….I like it.
|
The second guys a scrub, ploy to get his 5* teammate.
First looks like a good get, shoots well considering his size and doesn’t look like a lumbering elephant in stark contrast to the bigs CM had been gracing us with as of late. As for Gates overall only the Lord knows. |
Better than Cuonzo.

Second, he doesn’t have a 5* teammate. You are referring to the son of the Gholston’s coach who was recently fired. He has a 5* son. That coach was an assistant at Northwestern with CDGs brother Armon Gates. Any connection to Baldwin Jr, the 5* son is via CDGs brother, who will not be on the staff at Mizzou. But yes I’m sure taking a Sr PG transfer from a school who fired their coach is a “ploy” to get a high school kid. Lol. |
You’re correct about Baldwin Jr being the former coaches son, you’re incorrect about him being in high school. He just finished his frosh season at Milwaukee and is expected to hit the portal due to the obv and was Golstons teammate this past season.
As for Golstons ability I do not agree but would prefer if you were right obv. |

Gates already building up reasons to hope.
Both additions are nice. They also have the top JUCO PG on campus this weekend (Sean East). I don’t think the Gholston “take” is purely about the connection to Pat Baldwin, Jr. I think he also is viewed as a solid player who can help the team. He’s a big and physical guard with a decent skill level and good shot. Gates met with Aidan Shaw over Zoom and plans to visit him in person this week. Think there’s a good shot they get Shaw back in the fold and keep Brazile. Length, athleticism, and skill are things Gates seems to prize. Nice to see a coach who cares about those things rather than toughness and grit! |

Anything has got to be better than Cuonzo.
Anything. |

Almost anything would be better than Cuonzo.
Almost anything. |
Yes it’s nice to have something to hope for in hoops again.
|
Anderson was so bad he finished 12 games under .500 at Pitt State. His best season was his first, and his record got worse every year from year three on.
He wasn't just a bad P5 coach; he was a bad D-II coach. Outside of Dave Bliss, there hasn't been a worse basketball hire in at least 25 years. |
First I'm seeing of these recruits. Even a remote chance of turning things around would be a major upgrade. Last 2 games I watched this season were the KU game and the last LSU game. So obviously it didn't feel like I missed much. Before last season I watched almost every single Mizzou game. Being that disconnected from the Tigers made me totally disconnected from college hoops this year. I didn't know Coach K was retiring until I was in Vegas a couple weeks ago, and I didn't bet hoops while I was there because I had no knowledge of any of the teams.
Really hope Gates is the guy who gets it turned around. |

The problem for Hoiberg at Nebraska was Nebraska. Kim Anderson, OTOH, never had any success in DI and the only time he succeeded at the lower levels was when he had those super-teams full of DI guys who were stopping through. Hamas is right - you really would have to cover up the murder of one of your players by ANOTHER of your players to be worse than Kim Anderson. |

Looks like Pinson may be on his way back…

Still can't believe our mouth-breathing mongoloid of a coach benched that kid during a damn NCAA tournament game. Unreal. |
Sign me up for X and the East kid. X is a limited player but a decent one and is a big upgrade and as good as what’s out there in terms of PG’s. As for East IDK, he did well at JUCO this yr but was not very good for Bradley or UMASS before that but we need more than one PG and currently have none.
Hard pass on the ILL PG who entered yesterday his shooting #’s are awful. |
NOT ENOUGH GRIT

Scheduling update:
The defending NCAA champions will be visiting Columbia next year. |

No clue if the NCAA would accept it. |
Cautiously hesitant and bordering on reluctance to be excited about anything Mizzou basketball thanks to Cuonzo and Kim Blahhhhnderson
|
Missouri basketball, when it's not absolute shit bad, is basically my favorite sport to watch. I'm excited for the coaching change.
|
Aiden Shaw back to Mizzou. Number 50 recruit in the nation. Big time get.
|
Wow really didn’t think he’d stick. Good start to the Gates era.

I’m really impressed with the work Gates is doing on the recruiting trail without a staff basically….dude has won me over already. Can’t wait!
|
Missouri still has a team?
|
Missouri should get some transfers

Serious question: if you're last name is Nutt, how on Earth could you even consider calling your kid Dickey? The surname is punishment enough. No need to pour salt in the wound.

Quit being so juvenile. Let’s get back to hoops. What is Nutt’s plan to cover Dick at KU? I predict a cover-1 and preventing him from taking it hard to the hole |

I like the direction that Gates is headed. East.
|
PG Sean East committed to Mizzou today. That's a nice grab. He and Diarra are a pair of really good pulls from JUCO who I think can translate immediately to SEC play.
So far, those are the big-ticket items, along with bringing Shaw back into the fold. They've added a couple of mid-major guys on the wing, too, but nothing too crazy/special. I like the direction it's headed, though. |
He's doing a great job on the trail.
|
Quote:
Things were gonna be pretty rough without him as there's just not another true PG on the roster. |
Quote:
Mizzou didn't keep Brazile. That's on NIL money and what Arkansas fans are throwing around. Homey was out for sure if Mizzou kept CuonzNO. He at least waited with Gates to see if they would match the money Arkie threw at him (reportedly 500k according to my guy who's connected to Mizzou's biggest hoops booster). You're pretty down on this hire. What did you want to see them do? Beyond Sean Miller, I don't know what there is to be super disappointed about (and that was never happening). I look at the intake as two really good JUCOs who upgrade the roster at black hole spots (East and Diarra) and a couple of useful transfer guards in Gholston and Gomillion who are, IMO, at least legitimate college players at this point (Unlike Brookshire and Wilmore). |
What about Noah Carter? He any good?
|
Sean East is a pretty damn good get isnt he? This is a great sign that he can pull in these guys. Reminds me of what Drink did his first year here.
|
Quote:
I think he’s a role player, but he’s a legit D1 player unlike Wilmore. So that’s good. Not super athletic or big, but skilled and tough and some versatility. |
What is the realistic goal for wins?
15? |
Quote:
Though that may be overly ambitious given the state of the program at present. It's going to take some adjustment for these additions to get up to Power 5 sort of speed. But some of these games they were losing against inferior mid-major competition last season should be games they win pretty easily given that even the more 'raw' kids they added out of the Horizon League and JUCO have been playing competition at/near that level. |
Close to getting a 7'5" guy from WKU.
|
Average 8.2 pts, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.6 blocks per game. That's a lot of ****ing blocks lol

Just give me a team that can manage to beat UMKC and I'll call that progress.
|
Can't believe this hasn't been updated yet! Mizzou gets JUCO player of the year Sean East. Really really like what coach Green has done so far!
|
Also we didn't get that big mofo. He went back to WKU.
|
Surprised they took a well traveled JUCO guy, given how strong Mizzou academics are
|
So how good is Sean East supposed to be? Can anyone give me a list of all the players that have committed to Mizzou since the coaching change? I can't seem to find anything.
|
Quote:
https://www.rockmnation.com/2022/4/2...l-full-for-now They haven't done anything since then that I can recall. Losing out on Jamarion Sharp probably locked down the roster as he was a potential impact big that they really could've used. I don't see an obvious alternative still out there that Mizzou seems to be pursuing. I think they're still short on shooting and don't understand someone like Honor at all, but I guess backup PG has value. I just don't see any upside there at all. In the end, when you cycle through 9 of your 12 players (and one of those 12 is just there to keep his brother from leaving), you're gonna have some roster chaff here and there. I really thought they had Sharp, though. That one kinda sucks. I think he gets them near 18-19 wins. Without him I think they're looking at 14-15. But it's year 1 so we'll see how it goes. |

But he's essentially the starting PG by default so all I can do is hope for the best. |
Your best player for next season just arrived via Springfield.
|
Damn huge get in Mosely. This team has come together really nice. Seems like we have some fun good recruiters at MU in Drink and Gates.
|
Mosley is a big add. Athletic scoring wings traditionally do well in this system.
If Diarra can play good minutes right away, this could be a fun team. Diarra/Kobe Brown/Mosley/Hodge/East would be my first guess at a starting 5. |
