Going down to Carthage tomorrow, straight shot down 49.

Where can I stop for lunch? Maybe somewhere near Sheldon, Lamar or Nevada. Don't want to venture too far off the road so don't recommend some shithole in Clinton.

It has been there a long time. GF is from Nevada so have ate their a lot. About the only good place in Nevada. In Butler there is Koehns bakery they serve lunch as well.

I live along 49 in that in between area. Several of the places mentioned are quality. I've frequented:

Byrds and The Wine Journal in Adrian
Kohens and Tu Casa in Butler
Swopes in Rich Hill
White Grill and Buzz's in Nevada

Buzz's is at the bottom of that list. Swopes is middle of the road. The rest I'd recommend to anyone.

Actually 18 out of Adrian has a sign for Clinton. Mostly b/c there's nothing in between, other than Ballard, but that doesn't count...

I used to go to the Blue Top Diner in Lamar. Good comfort food. Carthage Braum's has good ice cream, even if they dropped the steak sandwich. Better choices over in Joplin. Or, you could eat magic mushrooms and go explore The Precious Moments Chapel!
