Some serious tackling talent getting stacked in the box.
|
I am pretty pleased.
I mean like **** them for not taking who I wanted because I am a super genius /s but they made fine selections. |
Fast hitter, I like it.
|
Never heard of this guy. Is he any good?
|
Who is he comparable to in the NFL?
I know nothing of him. |

We're building a mean defense.

The guy is really big at 6’3” 250 and ran a 4.53. Very good tackler
They got tired of watching Neimann get his ass kicked by OL |

But people told me the Chiefs were ignoring the defense.
|
I had kinda dismissed the idea of picking Chenal all together. Because I assumed he'd be gone in the second and was somewhat redundant with our current starters. But good pick if spags has a plan to use him.
|
I guess the team finally got as tired of watching missed tackles and soft defense as we did.
Let's go. |
Ehhhh.....
First pick I've been underwhelmed by. But as a Badger fan, it's probably coming from the same place when Mizzou fans hate on their own |
(From Dane Brugler’s top 300 abbreviated write up):
58. Leo Chenal, LB, Wisconsin (6-3, 250) Chenal has outstanding eyes, aggressive flow and feel for run-blocking development, which allows him to play ahead of climbing blocks and pile up tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage. Though he has the range to hold up in coverage, his questionable fluidity and ball skills are a cause for concern. Overall, Chenal has room to grow as both a cover man and blitzer, but he has exceptional run instincts with above average key-and-diagnose skills and contact balance downhill. He compares favorably to Jordyn Brooks as a prospect. |
From PFF's rankings
36. LB LEO CHENAL, WISCONSIN Chenal is going to thrive in man blitz-heavy schemes. He packs a punch as a downhill player, as he can light up offensive linemen with ease. His 94.1 run-defense grade wasn't too far behind Micah Parsons‘ (94.8) PFF college record. |
you're not running on this team next year

Huge upgrade for the LBs with this pick. I like this guy.

I can dig this. He’s not from Iowa and that’s a tremendous improvement

For me, this is your Micah Parsons. Let this guy attack downhill, period. |
Pro Football Focus had him as the 36th player overall.
They think it is a FANTASTIC pick, fwiw. |
In shell coverage he's a pass rusher.

We are going to be adding some angry white man rage to this defense, which I much prefer to the dainty white men we had on defense the last couple years.

Bring back Ingram and sign Hicks and ohhhh boyyy |
you gotta like his size and he looks jacked
man we are loading up on defense, you gotta like that. Imagine if all these picks work out well and we end up dominating on defense and Pat only need to score 24+ to win games, would be awesome. |
He's a monster
|
Bolton, Gay and Chenal. Pretty solid LB crew. 100X better than the last couple of years of DJ and the nobodies around him. I can't remember when the last time was that LB wasn't a liability.
|
Here he is making the best C in the draft his bitch.
Neimann could never dream of being an alpha like this man <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Hey <a href="https://twitter.com/JohnLynch49ers?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@JohnLynch49ers</a> Leo Chenal? <a href="https://t.co/vwF4uRMSCs">pic.twitter.com/vwF4uRMSCs</a></p>— Imagidadnation (@imagidadnation) <a href="https://twitter.com/imagidadnation/status/1520095957391618048?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">April 29, 2022</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Simms ranked Chenal over Nakobe Dean. Had him as the third best LB in the draft.
|
I think the thing I like the most is that we added players that want to rip your ****ing face off on Defense. It's been long lacking, outside of Bolton last season.
|
A guy who looks and tackles like that having the kind of athleticism his numbers show is pretty nice
|
Jesus Christ we ARE building a death star.

7 sacks? Runs a 4.5? Same size as TJ Watt? Can we use him as a pass rusher?
|
|
The theme of this draft so far, in my eyes, is that the chiefs are targeting players that are going to contribute week 1 in some way, even if they are just role players. And also sending a clear message to the defense that the me first attitudes are out.

This guy IS better than Dean. I think they'll use him as a blitzer at times as well.

I’d love to see Josh Allen get blown up by this guy on one of those designed QB runs that always kill us.
|
Today was nice. I do like the Bryan Cook pick. He's nasty. Chenal is a scary freak.
|
Holy shit I stopped watching we got Leo. I’m overjoyed

This is kinda sneaky in the sense that the new DL coach likes to do a bunch of mix fronts so you may see some 3-4 looks this year.
