The Chiefs got great draft value for sure.I kind of thought they were gonna trade up for Jermaine Johnson, but i think they were happy that Karlaftis fell to them anyway. After reading that about Skyy i'm a tad surprised the Steelers didnt draft him since he has a connection with Tomlins son and is from Pittsburgh,i didnt know he was.But perhaps they had Pickens ranked higher, who knows,i think we'll be glad we got Skyy, still kind of blows my mind some on NFL Network ranked him number 1 from this draft.

I legit can see 6-7 players that are going to be starters or have significant roles on this team. |

Good read thanks Pest.

I love Skyy, though. Great pick at 54 and getting Kinnard with the trade back pick was amazing value. |

Everybody has whined about Veach never drafting any super stars, only ever solid dependable players or nice bench depth pieces.
Somewhere in this draft he got a super stud. Possibly two. |

Not picking on you specifically, because I've seen this said a couple of times. Why, besides being a guy you liked would you think Veach wanted Pickens, but traded back and so was stuck with Moore? When have you seen Veach sit on his hands when he wants a guy? No, I think Moore was the guy they wanted, and they knew exactly when they could grab him. |
Quote:
Would we have considered him if the Steelers had taken Moore? Possibly... But I personally think the injury concerns, character concerns, and IQ concerns may have had him on Veach's do not draft list. I liked Pickens as a prospect a lot... I just don't think he was a possibility for the Chiefs. |

Pickens is such a perfect Pittsburgh receiver. Not only does Skyy fit our offense but I think he specifically does NOT fit theirs.
I think the bigger surprise is that New England took Tyquan Thornton. I think, and have seen a lot of rankings that support this, that Skyy Moore is the best of the bunch between him, Pickens, Thornton and Pierce. I know that we all assume the GM lies when he says he traded back and still got his guy but it can also sometimes be true. |
how about Ealy and Ross?

Awesome Thank You!
I really like Ealy's skill set, hoping he and Ross make the roster. |
Brugler ranked the Chiefs second (behind the Jets) in his 1-32 rankings of the overall draft classes by team.

Thanks for posting these, Franchise!
If you don't mind, what was his writeup on Travis Jones and where did he have him ranked overall? I trust 1000% in Veach and Cook is an intriguing pick, but I hope we don't regret passing on Jones for him down the road. |

I feel like if you're going to grade a draft you should weight your grades like a handicap in golf based on where the teams are coming from. Ranking the Jets #1 is fine, but they had two top ten picks. I mean good on them for not screwing up those picks, you just take Sauce Gardner when it is your turn and take Garrett Wilson when it is your turn and not fumble the pick. Which is fine. But if you consider we're overall #2 with 29 and 30 heading into the draft it's far and away the best draft performance in the league. |

UConn) ... explosive out of his stance and resets the line of scrimmage with his get-off ... doesn’t consistently create knock-back, but has the bully power to work blockers off balance and drive them backward ... comfortably forces his way through bodies with long-arm techniques ... will use various swat, rip and snatch moves to leverage gaps ... able to stack and shed at the point of attack using his strong, physical hands ... diagnoses quickly vs. the run and has a feel for where the play is headed ... consistently attracted double teams on tape ... has a quiet and positive attitude off the field, but competes with some mean to him on the field ... voted a senior captain in 2021 and I talked with several teammates who identified him as the “hardest worker” on the team ... posted consistent tackle production each season at UConn and led the team in sacks as a senior ... had dominant reps during Senior Bowl practices. WEAKNESSES: Still maturing as a pass rusher ... his move-to-move transitions must become more seamless to take advantage of his initial quickness and power ... can be late off the snap and struggles to play from behind ... has some slight stiffness and his pad level must become more consistent ... needs a moment to rev back up after he gears down ... finds himself on the ground more than you want to see ... lost a full season in 2020 because of COVID and missed one game as a senior because of a right foot injury (September 2021). SUMMARY: A three-year starter at UConn, Jones played three-technique and nose tackle in defensive coordinator Lou Spanos’ four-man front. Recruited primarily as an offensive guard out of high school, he reshaped his body and developed into an impactful defensive tackle since joining the Huskies, despite a 21-month layoff between the 2019 and 2021 seasons and the program posting a 4-32 record (three of those wins vs. FCS teams) over his four years in college. A big-bodied athlete with strong legs and arms, Jones is quick off the ball and powerful through his hips to be disruptive vs. both the pass and the run. He uses quickness and forceful hand moves to get his nose in the gap, but he needs to harness his momentum and consistently use his secondary moves to shoot through. Overall, Jones’ pass rush technique is still a work-in-progress, but he creates problems for interior blockers with his athletic movements and explosive upper body to stack, shed and toss. He projects as an early NFL starter with two-gap potential. GRADE: 1st-2nd Round (No. 34 overall) |
