Who was the worst Chiefs RB in the 2000s?

I got Kolby Smith, Jackie Battle, Charccandrick West. All those guys were 3 ypc guys. Battle being the slowest and West going down when a pinky wad laid on him.

oaklandhater 06-01-2022 11:29 AM

Mike cloud and it’s not even close

Peyton Hillis finished the 2012 season with 85 carries for 309 yards, losing 2 fumbles and scoring 1 touchdown.

Zebedee DuBois 06-01-2022 11:35 AM

How can you remember these forgettable guys?

Rain Man 06-01-2022 11:39 AM

Among players with more 100 or more rushing attempts with the Chiefs from 2000-2009, here is their ypc on rushes. This includes only rushes for the Chiefs during those specific years.

Derrick Blaylock was a hidden star, and Kolby Smith might not want to look at this post. Granted, one might suggest that the actual worst running back didn't get 100 rushes.

Jamaal Charles 5.7
Derrick Blaylock 4.6
Priest Holmes 4.6
Larry Johnson 4.4
Trent Green 4.0
Tony Richardson 4.0
Kolby Smith 3.3

Most disappointing for sure.

As an optimistic kid i thought Kolby Smith was way better than Jackie Battle. Both were meh.

In58men 06-01-2022 11:42 AM

Darwin Thompson, DeAndre Washington, CJ Spiller and LeSean McCoy.

Donelle Bennett was a Chief in 2000, so he gets my vote.

His 2000 stat line is interesting. 27 carries for 24 yards, but he made 7 rushing first downs. He must have been a very unsuccessful short-yardage specialist that year.

Wilson8 06-01-2022 11:57 AM

Drafted in 2009 by KC Chiefs - Javarris Jamiel Williams - Played 4 games, 6 Rush, 6 yards

You'd think after the 5th carry that they would see that the guy sucks.

Oh well.

CJ spiller was signed and released 69 times by the Chiefs and he didn't get 50 carries?

2 rushing attempts for 0 yards, with a long run of 1 yard.

In fairness, he got two passing targets along with those, though both were incomplete.

CJ Spiller was a nuclear missile. We never used him, but we always had him ready in the silo just in case.

Knile Davis

He sucked ass, and fumbled against the Pats in the playoffs that crushed us.

Let's review the rules -

Who was the worst Chiefs RB in the 2000s?

Rule #1. A Chiefs RB.

Rule #2. Played in the 2000s time period for Kansas City Chiefs.

Rule #3. Worst - Least skillful or efficient the worst person for the job.

if you use this definition of worst - most corrupt, bad, evil, or ill, I would change my vote to Larry Johnson Larry has some issues - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_..._(running_back)

KCrockaholic 06-01-2022 12:34 PM

I don't really think Charc was that "bad". He wasn't good by any means, but we've certainly had worse in the last 20 years.

kysirsoze 06-01-2022 12:35 PM

Mike Cloud running behind the same line Priest Holmes did and being so ****ing bad is pretty inexcusable. I mean he was never gonna be Priest, but Jesus.

Gary Cooper 06-01-2022 12:37 PM

Cloud or Sheehee.

Donnell Bennett just misses by a few years.

TheMartyr 06-01-2022 12:39 PM

Too many to name. Kareem Hunt has the 17th most rushing yards in Chiefs history and he achieved that in 1.75 seasons.

If Clyde gets 1,300 yards on the ground this year, he will move into the top 10 all time in Chiefs history.

Which is funny because KC has one of the more storied RB histories in the league, particularly this side of the turn of the century.

We basically went from Priest Holmes to Larry Johnson to Jamaal Charles to Kareem Hunt. In between, we had some steadies in Thomas Jones, Spencer Ware, Charcandrick West, and Damien Williams who really weren't bad.

Yep. Outside of those big 3 you named, the Chiefs have really just had a lot of 1-2 year players at the position. If Clyde is here the full 5 years with the option, he has a chance for top 5. Charles has outpaced everyone by a lot (almost 1,200 yards), and he probably could have gotten more if injuries and just an awful team around him hadn’t held him back. If this current team had Jamaal Charles in his prime, he would have been up even better numbers.

CoMoChief 06-01-2022 12:50 PM

Donnell Bennet, Mike Cloud, Dexter McCluster, Kolby Smith

Gotta put CEH on this list if we're being honest. May rub some wrong way but hey....he's a former 1st rd pick and was one of CFB best RB's but plays like shit outside of having a couple/few good games.

Demonpenz 06-01-2022 12:52 PM

Zach Thomas was on the chiefs for a second

wazu 06-01-2022 01:00 PM

Mike Cloud cost a lot of fantasy football players their championship game in 2002. One might have thought with Priest Holmes out that Mike Cloud, behind the same line, might be a serviceable replacement. 16 carries for 19 yards, no TDs.

Shoes 06-01-2022 01:01 PM

I’d still take them all over Jonathan Taylor.

Suck it Ubeja

FloridaMan88 06-01-2022 01:03 PM

At least Thomas Jones punched out Jonathan Baldwin so he had some usefulness.

mililo4cpa 06-01-2022 01:18 PM

Dontari Poe: 1 rush for 1 yd, although it was for a TD

Fair lol..

But we got nearly double the production from Reek as a WR as opposed to RB on a per touch basis. There was simply little reason to expose him to the punishment a RB faces once he broke out as a star receiver.

My thinking was to just give him 5 touches per game at RB and let him play WR the rest. There's never been a player that could cut like Reek could. It'll be interesting to see what the Dolphins do with him.

I'm going to be very interested to see how that works out. We all know that Tyreek can turn short gains into long ones, but he's at his best 40 yards downfield and that talent is going to get wasted a lot without Patrick Mahomes II throwing him the ball.
