Broken hip

Well yesterday was my birthday and I bought myself a new smoker. Went and put it on the back prorch. Went back out and slipped, did the splits and broke my left hip right below the ball of the femur. Suppose to meet with Ortho this morning to get the surgery to repair.

Speedy recovery...

side note broken hip is what ended up killing my grand dad... he was in his 80's... so there is that... :)

HemiEd 07-31-2022 07:13 AM

Wow, sorry to hear. Hope you heal up soon.

My older sister just broke hers a week ago Saturday and had surgery last Sunday. She had a Great Dane on a leash and it took off.

Best Wishes man. That blows.

lewdog 07-31-2022 07:35 AM

If there's any condolence, fixing and rehabbing broken hips today are pretty standard. Hurts like hell and is inconvenient though.

Best wishes in your recovery.

mlyonsd 07-31-2022 07:46 AM

Well that sucks. Good luck.

KCUnited 07-31-2022 07:48 AM

What kind of smoker did you buy?

Hydrae 07-31-2022 09:33 AM

Happy Birthday!

Not the kind of excitement you wanted on your birthday. Hope everything goes smoothly and you heal quickly!

IowaHawkeyeChief 07-31-2022 09:58 AM

Sucks... don't let the experience ruin good smoked meat though. Seriously, hope you have a speedy recovery.

LiveSteam 07-31-2022 10:00 AM

Wow! That sucks.
God's speed.

Rasputin 07-31-2022 01:08 PM

Did you do the splits like this?

Bowser 07-31-2022 01:24 PM

Damn, that blows. Heal up fast.

cabletech94 07-31-2022 01:28 PM

Sorry bout your bad break, but you’ll get smoked meat sooner or later. Here’s to a quick recovery.

Hopefully you beat the **** out that smoker like any normal grown man.

Tell your friends to come over and look at the new smoker you bought for 40K.

Rub some dirt...

Aw, sorry to hear that. I did something similar years ago. Wasn't fun.

kccrow 07-31-2022 01:51 PM

Ouch. Broke my femur when I was 11 falling from some rafters (yeah I was a dumb kid). So, I know how great you feel right now. Hopes for a speedy recovery man!

Bwana 07-31-2022 02:00 PM

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I hope you mend quickly.

Marcellus 07-31-2022 02:05 PM

I'd say it's a sign to slow down but...eh....you were just walking on your back porch. So...

Walk more? I mean once everythi-...get well soon.

There was definitely more to it than that. My covered back porch is not connected to my back door as the door is on the side of the house. So there is a 3 footish gap. Instead of going down the steps and up the other set. Sure wish I would have now.
