10 weeks in...

I know the loss to Indy stung, especially since we'd be 9-1 right now, but, regardless of who our losses are to, are we where you thought we'd be at this point in the season?

I'm not sure where I thought we'd be record-wise, but we're way ahead of where I thought we would be in our division. Broncos are actually about where I figured they'd be (even when I learned they'd signed Russell Wilson). I thought both the Raiders and Chargers would only be a game or two behind us at this point, though, if not in a dead heat.

I think we are about we’re we should be. I thought worst case we lose at TB,Chargers, and Home to Buffalo. Best case we beat two of those 3 so we are right we’re I was hoping. For this schedule it’s a good accomplishment and makes a statement to the league. Last night was great that it got Pacheco and Moore opportunities to shine but it also showed me how important JuJu is to this offense

Look at our remaining schedule. We should sweep it. Would LOVE to pound the Bengals and keep them out of the playoffs. Bills face murderers row moving forward too, tons of division rival games.

ThaVirus 11-21-2022 08:44 AM

We've far exceeded expectations. I'm generally a pessimistic optimist. To keep expectations low, I like to assume the worst for us and the best for our opponents.

I expected something like 4,800 yards and maybe 33 TDs for Mahomes. A good year for most QBs but a step back for him. Similar step back for Kelce due to age and now being the main focus for defenses to key on. 1,100 and 7 TDs or so.

Now, Mahomes is the MVP frontrunner and Kelce is quietly a dark horse OPOY candidate.

A 7th round rookie RB is averaging over 5 YPC, the OL has really settle in these last few weeks, Juju and MVS are better than Pringle/Robinson, Chris Jones is having a DPOY type season, and we're getting significant playing time out of 4th and 7th round rookie CBs.

If you'd told me 8-2 prior to the start of the season I'd have said "hell yeah, I'll take it!". Given the rest of the schedule, we could realistically be looking at a 14-4, 15-2 finish.

Yeah, looking at the Bills schedule there's no way they're not losing at least one more, so we have room to drop one, but I don't really think we will. We're a juggernaut.

We're miles ahead of where I expected. I really thought even the organization viewed this as a transition year, and maybe they actually did, but it certainly hasn't turned out that way. Just incredible, this team and this organization are truly amazing.

Time to get over the Indy game. We lost. Teams lose to teams they shouldn't on occasion.

scho63 11-21-2022 08:46 AM

I had us at 14-3 or 13-4. So far tracking well.

ThaVirus 11-21-2022 08:46 AM

Also, this pass rush is weird af! I watch the games and consistently feel like we're getting no pressure, then by the end of the game we've somehow got 5 sacks and I'm like "wtf..?" It's bizarre.

If Frank Clark was earning his pay, this defense could be elite.

He had a pretty consistent season before is little vacation. Hoping it's just taking him a little bet to get back in the groove.

Can only QBs be MVP? Not that Mahomes doesn't deserve it (how many times has he carried the team this season), but why couldn't someone like Kelce be considered for MVP vs OPOY?

Bearcat 11-21-2022 08:54 AM

Not surprised at all they're first in the division and conference... I just don't buy into other teams until they prove something, so all of the offseason hype that these other teams vastly improved was the media and people talking out their ass.

Wasn't sure what to expect as far as record goes... certainly didn’t want to think they'd **** around like last season, but the schedule looked similar in that IF they ****ed around, they could have similar results. Win a very winnable game, lose to a playoff contender... repeat for two months.

Figured their ceiling was 8 wins at this point and their floor was 6-4, then go on the Reid run against the garbage teams.... but really had no idea what to expect with so many new offensive pieces and the first part of the schedule being tougher.

I mean it sucks that we're not 9-1 but it took a lot of things going wrong at the same time for it to happen.

there's no reason to dwell on it an there's certainly no reason to think it's indicative of like any glaring problems.

Marcellus 11-21-2022 09:09 AM

I figured this was our toughest stretch so probably 6-4 or 7-3 right now at best. Glad to be wrong.

Imagine last years Chiefs were 3-4 at one point and 6-4 after 10 games..

BTW KC opens as a 14pt favorite over the Rams.

Direckshun 11-21-2022 09:16 AM

I was certain the DL wasn’t going to be good enough.

Right now it’s just good enough, and it’s been gaining steam.

I also thought we were too thin at CB, and I think we’ve all been surprised by that.

This team, though… it has so many rookies it’s pretty much locked into a basic, static zone defense it can’t really wiggle out of until all these rookies are more experienced. And we’ve now seen what a fantastic QB armed with smart WRs can do to it. It’s risky.

Miami, Cincinnati, and Buffalo are all risks to ravage that secondary. They are extremely talented but their inexperience does limit what they can do. We will see if the DL’s continued progress can make up for it.

That all said: I thought we’d be on the outside looking in this year. And right now we run the AFC and have as good a chance as literally anyone to win it all.

By this time next year we are going to be destroying the league.

This defensive line has lulls and spikes. It’s bananas.

I don’t know what the answer is right now. The answer long term is to keep drafting DEs.

It's basically a QB award in everything but the name.

Last 10 years have seen 9 QB MVPs and only 1 non-QB.

Last 23 years have seen 19 QB MVPs and only 4 non-QB MVPs.

I don't think the award has ever been won by a WR or TE but I didn't look too hard.

comochiefsfan 11-21-2022 09:25 AM

We've exceeded expectations.

No one knew what to expect this year without Tyreek, and with the rest of the division seemingly loading up to bring us down.

This season has been Andy and Patrick's magnum opus to this point.

5th in the league in sacks, yea the DL is a disaster.

RaidersOftheCellar 11-21-2022 09:51 AM

Right on pace. I think I picked 13-4 or 14-3.

the steam 11-21-2022 09:54 AM

Chiefs are the best team right now and there is a huge gap between Chiefs and the field
