Kevin Harland should be CBS #1 announcer
This game just hi-lighted how good Harlan is as a commentator. I have no idea why Nantz is their #1. I think Green is a dependable color commentator but admit Romo is a better analyst. I think Harlan and Romo should be CBS #1 team.
Harlan describes the game better. He’s better pointing out which player did what. He is more emotionally invested in the game without being a Homer for either team. Nantz seems to have the personality of wet cardboard. Also, he seems to root for whoever is playing KC, although that could be me. The downside to KC’s quality play is us getting Nantz and Romo. As frustrating as this game was, at least Harlan was in the booth and not Nantz. |
Nantz is the worst thing in sports.
|
He lives in Nashville and likes the Titans, that’s a big reason Nantz hates KC.
|
I thought Green was hard to listen to.
It felt like he was trying too hard to prove that he wasn’t a Chiefs homer by agreeing with every bullshit call. |
Harlan got the play result and game situation wrong a few times. It was like he was in his basement studio at home watching a feed and not actually at the game and able to see what he could choose to look at that was not on a screen.

It was super hilarious when they ran up the rushing stats for dudes wearing #10. I had a nice chuckle at sheepish Green. I think Green needs more games and maybe a little coaching to be confident in his own voice, but I do like the analysis he gives. But 100% agree, it should be Harlan/Romo. |

The thing is Harlan already has arguably the sweetest broadcasting gig in the NFL.
In his addition to his CBS Sunday game, he calls the Monday Night Football game on Westwood One. During the playoffs, he's the only broadcaster guaranteed every year to do a wild card game, divisional round game, conference championship game and the Super Bowl because of his Westwood One obligations. |
Harland is the absolute best. His play by play of a cat on the field scoring a TD proves it!:thumb:

No idea why anybody is trashing Nantz and Romo. Easily the best commentating team with the best chemistry in the NFL right now.
Harlan is up there as well and I have no real qualms with him usually, but he seriously botched a call today. Trent Green was also super annoying in that game in defending/explaining away the bullshit that was going on repeatedly (Romo would not have done so). |
Nantz is the face of CBS Sports keep in mind. Technically but Harlan is so underrated. He should be #1.

Everybody sucks his dick and I have no idea why. He's no better than half the color guys out there. I turned off Brady/Bengals after about 10 minutes because the guy wouldn't talk about the ****ing game. It was nothing but, "aaaaawwwwwwww Jim I think these Bucs are way better than their record look at this play now that's a play only the best teams make they're going to be a really tough team in the playoffs Jim" Give me a team with somebody on it who just talks about what he sees in front of him and leaves the prognosticating to the shmucks on these debate shows from M-F |
My guess is that Harlan/Green are rarely placed on KC games due to their history with the team.
Does Aikman/Buck get the Cowboys a lot? Not sure, but I'm guessing no. |

If Harlan were the #1 guy, they'd give the majority of KC games to them. |

I admittedly don't get many Green games but yesterday was likely listening to a preseason game from like 7 years ago. |

Nantz hates the Chiefs?
It’s funny fans always think the announcers hate their teams, they never comment when they like their team Romo likes us. Trent Green obviously likes us Cris Collinsworth loves calling Mahomes (and alot of other great QBs) games |
Quote:
Alot of Dallas fans didn’t like Aikman because they felt he was too hard on the team, almost as if he was trying hard to sound unbiased. |
Green definitely had an off-game yesterday. He just has zero personality but is knowledgeable. I have seen him and Harlan a few times this year and he isn't usually that bad. He played and lives in KC so has to be extra careful of homerism I guess.
|
These broadcasters get old, they leave them there well past their prime and we suffer.
Al Michaels needs to be put out to pasture. Cris Collinsworth and his fanboy act for any player who makes one play is suddenly the second coming of Jesus is so overplayed and worn out. Trent Green is there to counterbalance Harlan but he was annoying yesterday. Tony Romo still is one of the best at telling you what is going on but he is also becomming too showy and won't shut up. I really wish Charlie Jones and Curt Gowdy were still around. |
Who's Kevin Harland?

Harlan's call is a bit nostalgic for me. He's like an old friend who has stopped by for a visit.

His primary residence is by Pebble Beach in California. He has a replica golf hole in his back yard that he's pretty infamous for having. |
The sideline reporter is a stunner! Can't remember her name though.

I watch a lot of his golf broadcasts, he spends way more time in the PB home (so he often says) than he does in Nashville. But I'm guessing you're correct as to why they also have a place in Nashville. |

Imagine how awful announcing is gonna be when it is all Tom Brady all the time. He has already announced he's gonna be extra critical of QBs cause he has such a high standard for QB play and won't abide seeing it slip.
It's gonna be a circle of hell having to listen to him critique Mahomes all game. **** Tom Brady. |
Harlan does the Westwood 1 NFL broadcasts for radio. Surprised he has time for tv. The radio broadcast of the Bills-Fins game had a guy with a speech impediment/heavy accent. It was infuriating
|
Harlan is the best out there imo but Nantz is also high quality. Surprised Fox didn't try to get Harlan for the #1 spot after Buck left for ESPN.
|
Harlan>Ian Eagle>Nantz
All good, but that's how I rank 'em |
Yes.
|
Nantz's voice is best suited for golf, or something similarly mellow. Bowling, or pocket billiards perhaps?

Dont get the hate on Nantz. I think hes great but yes Harlan the best.

I am a fan of Harlan but one thing I dislike about his announcing is when he says: "And that's a big reception at the 49 yard line".
Tell us how many yards he caught it for. That should always come first. I personally like Ian Eagle with Nantz a close second. |
Watching the Chiefs at Broncos and Chiefs at Raiders, Kevin Harlan is tiresome as hell with all his damn stats that do not mean shit and all his expressions of shock and surprise when something in the game is against the trend of his bullshit statistics.
In spite of their Chiefs connections, Kevin Harlan and Trent Green are on my Shut the **** Up while I turn the sound down as low as possible. As much as CBS cycles dozens of commercials during the first half of its games and as fast as Harlan spits out his who gives a shit statistics, it makes for an impossible watch and listen if Chiefs have a slow start. I do not give a shit what the Chiefs Planet consensus is on these Jamokes Kevin Harlan and Trent Green. Those two are actually more tiresome than the CBS beginning of game commercial tsunami and its musical accompaniment. That CBS music and all of those beginning of game commercial breaks are bad enough. I don't know if they get any non-Chiefs games that will be broadcast in KC the rest of this year, but I am going to have to see if they can be as annoying if it is not a Chiefs slow start game, but those two say a lot of stupid shit. |
well, that post is going to be downvoted so far your ancestors will feel it

Harlan is great but OMG stop with the "Jacksonville currently owns the 1 seed!" updates 10 times during the broadcast in the middle of an NFL Sunday that is still happening.

Number #1 seed right in between games on an NFL Sunday afternoon. Now the Ravens will be the #1 seed until they have a week off next week. |
Oh yeah, and let us not forget how astonished Kevin Harlan and Trent Green are at the statistical disparity that results when Chiefs are 3 and out and run 4 plays on their second drive while Raiders drive 75, 69, and 77 yards on their first three drives.
Those dumbasses Kevin Harlan and Trent Green gave the audience a dozen derivative stats about yards and time of possession that were easily explained by the drive charts as if they had an epiphany about yards and time of possession that they had to share with the audience. It was like Nick Bolton fumble return in Super Bowl skewed the 1st half yards and time of possession stats, and all the dumb comments by Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen on that broadcast about yards and time of possession as if they did not realize how a fumble return TD by the defense was a major fact in the story. All of you downvoting mother****ers should rewatch yesterday's game and write down how many stats Harlan blurted out that added jack shit to informing the audience about anything that mattered. |
Harlan is the best in the business.
|
As long as Trent Green is in the booth with him, I’m game.
|
Harlan is the best in the business right now IMO. Granted, it's a fairly low bar.
|
Kevin Harland is no Kevin Harlan

I don't hate Romo as much as some here, but Harlan is better. His call of Fitz housing the Brother****ing Cheatriot ****bags and Harlan calling both games is probably the best call in the history of football. Obviously biased, but that's amazing. |
