Watson vs Wilson - which was the worst trade and sign?
Watson trade
Browns received Serial sexual assaulter- 27 yr old Deshaun Watson and then signed him to 5 yr/$230 mil fully guaranteed contract 2024 6th round pick Texans received 2022 1st round pick 13th overall 2023 1st round pick ~12th overall 2024 1st round pick 2022 4th round pick 107th overall 2023 3rd round pick 2024 4th round pick Wilson trade Broncos receive The chef - 34 year old Russell Wilson and sign him to a 5 yr/$242 million $161 million guaranteed 2022 4th rounder Seahawks receive QB Drew Lock DT Shelby Harris TE Noah Fant 2022 first round pick 9th overall 2022 second round pick 40th overall 2022 fifth round pick 2023 first round pick 3rd overall 2023 second round pick Personally I think the Wilson trade was worse based on his age and what he had been doing in previous seasons. Plus they gave up a pick that would net a QBOTF possibly. The only thing that makes this close is Watson is a piece of trash human and Cleveland gave up 3 1st round picks. I couldn't be happier for Denver or Cleveland, though. |
I think they both stink bad but as far as we know Russell Wilson's only crime is felony corniness so I'll give the edge to Watson
|
its tough and i picked watson, but the watson trade does have a slightly better chance of turning out ok for cleveland whereas denver is inarguably ****ed for a decade
|
Both equally bad, but Wilson is worse only because Watson is a few years younger and it’s still possible that he might improve, although I highly doubt it. Nobody gets better by going to Cleveland.

Watson still should be good to go, assuming he ever regains something like his former physical ability. he just apparently is rusty as ****. maybe there was something to those massages . . . |
I picked Wilson to cancel out Quesadilla Cope’s vote
|
I'd say Wilson because there's still a chance that Watson could pull his head out of his ass, keep his perversions to himself (mail order third world bride, perhaps?) and be protective, and maybe, just maybe, outlive the damage caused by the loss of all those high draft picks they flushed to get him. Wilson, OTOH, seems completely washed and will probably be watching games from home by the time Denver gets out from under that mess. I seriously doubt they will ever get any benefit from it whatsoever. Which makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside every time I think about it. :)
Both horrible deals, though. Seattle and Houston should reap huge rewards for finding imbeciles to bring in Brinks trucks to haul off their trash. |
Watson has been out for a while.
Russell is just bad |
The Broncos traded Bradley Chubb to try to make up for the disaster of the Russell Wilson trade.
They’ve basically traded away 3 top 10 picks. |
I can see Watson bouncing back with a normal off season. Wilson...he's dead Jim.
|
Wilson is done. He's washed. Its over for him.
Deshaun might be serviceable after he finds the right massage team in Cleveland |
They’re equally bad right now. And that makes the Russell trade worse.
Watson is getting back to football. He is still young where Russell is a running qb who doesn’t run anymore. Watson may be a distraction but he isn’t hated in the locker room. |
Hard to chose. I think the Broncos decision is more crippling and Wilson has less of a chance to turn it around but the Browns actually knew what they were getting into and did it anyway.
So I guess the Browns. |
I'll say, it's taking Watson long enough. Guy acts like he's only had 4 months of prep to get ready to play, and he's still ass. Not like he doesn't have a top-10 defense, a top-5 OL, a top-3 rushing attack, and a top-5 receiving corps.

OMG that third down by Russ just now was the most hilarious failure that should drive this thread even harder in his direction. My god please get a gif of that in here ASAP
|
Watson for me.
You leave Wilson alone with your teenage daughter the biggest threat is him trying to rap to her about the dangers of premarital sex. |
Watson is worse, they gave up more than 3 first round picks, AND his whole deal is fully guaranteed.
And people with his sort of off the field issues don’t just knock it off. They are what they are. |

I really do not understand why people think Watson is anywhere near an elite QB.
Dude threw 50/50 balls to Hopkins for the most part. I don't see anything special there. I mean, Daunte Culpepper threw 50/50 balls to Randy Moss, and then was pretty forgettable when that wasn't an option anymore. And Watson is a serial sexual assaulter, which has alienated a good chunk of what has been a very loyal and dedicated fanbase. If I was a Cleveland fan, I'd be furious, disheartened, and probably just not watch NFL football anymore. I have several Ohio friends that feel that way. So I say Watson is the worst deal. What a slap in the face to all Browns fans. Hadn't they suffered enough? **** that guy. |

Don't turn your back to Dak. His suckage is kinda being overlooked.

Cleveland has always been a shot show. Can’t say I’m surprised at what they did. Denver, though, Denver has been a pretty well run franchise. I’m surprised they screwed up this badly. |

both are terrible but edge to Wilson because he's in a division with Mahomes and Herbert so theres no chance the broncos sniff the playoffs until they get that albatross off their neck

If Denver had a coach that knew how to run a training camp and practice, Wilson would have been solid this year.
Once you saw week 1 versus Seattle and the next two Bronco games, you could just tell it was like they were not prepared. If Denver gets a coach that know how to prepare a team, I think Wilson will be decent, but not elite. Both of those trades and long term deals are bad. |
